''' According to the narrative in this sub here a fee market is a good thing. That price difference is the fee market at work. Bitpay needs to pay a miner fee to spend the UTXOs that you sent to them, so they need to charge that fee to you. The reason why they don't charge a fee for Bitcoin Cash is because they don't limit their chain to tiny 1 MB blocks - there's plenty of block space left and fees are low. Fee market or low fees. You can't have both. What's your choice? ''' Context Link Go1dfish undelete link unreddit undelete link Author: otk16
The difference between bitcoin prices between emerging markets like India and the US be exploited?
Say, my friend in the US sends me 1Bitcoin which currently sells for around 900$ in India (Zebpay) and which is at a premium of around 50$ which can be split among us eventually? P.S: I'm new to Bitcoins, go easy on me if this has been discussed enough already. Thanks :)
ELI5 why if bitcoin is a globally connected currency, why different markets have drastically different buying and selling prices(ie Zimbabwe/europe)?
Why aren't we all the same? (EDIT) why are is there more than 1 market? is it because geogpraphicaly we aren't in their internet reach to get on their exchanges?/ is it that local trading(which obviously we can't do from here) drives up their price for the region? ALSO if I buy or sell for no fees on gdax(limit buying) does it lock in the price as it waits to be processed like coinbase?

Bitcoin is the largest crowdfunding project in the world. How much would it take to "save" the market from a complete collapse at different price levels?
Let's start with a few assumptions to make this easier. -30% of the coins already mined are lost. -20% are in it long-term/inaccessible. -Leaving 6,000,000 coins out in the open market to be exchanged. At $1200, the whole market can be bought for 7.2 Billion. $1100 - 6.6 Billion $1000 - 6 Billion $900 - 5.4 Billion $800 - 4.8 Billion $700 - 4.2 Billion $600 - 3.6 Billion $500 - 3 Billion $400 - 2.4 Billion $300 - 1.8 Billion $250 - 1.5 Billion $200 - 1.2 Billion $150 - 900 Million $100 - 600 Million $50 - 300 Million $25 - 150 Million Now a great question to ask is the following, how much money are prospective buyers holding onto and at what levels? Is there 1.5 Billion in support from prospective buyers at $250? At this value, it is comparable to Google's IPO launch in 2004, offering 19.6 million shares at $85 each (total valuation of 1.6 Billion). And for those that watched the stock that day, it did not sit still at $85, it didn't open close to that low.

''' If you had said this yesterday I might have agreed to the possibility. However the market appear different today and the buying pressure is stronger. There would need to be extraordinary circumstances for the price to go below 5.8k, since that was the correction from 20k and that particular factor certainly isn't present this time. Also we know since some time that the Mt Gox trustee probably won't sell BTC and BCH until September, since that's the time when the court will decide upon the matter of exiting the bankruptcy and possibly go for civil rehabilitation, in which case the remaining Mt Gox BTC and BCH would be distributed to their original owners. It would be problematic, speaking mildly, for a trustee to sell their property before the court has decided. Since all the Mt Gox claims were covered by sales before March this year, there is no reason for further sales by the trustee. Traders are going to trade and it's difficult to say what their decisions will be the coming days. However, given the path of least resistance, if the buying pressure is strong enough I expect upwards movement. Comparing with the prevoius years, mid-April has been a time of growth for bitcoin. [uncensored-r/Bitcoin] How can 1month futures price be so different from market price?
The following post by panda9228 is being replicated because some comments within the post(but not the post itself) have been silently removed. The original post can be found(in censored form) at this link: np.reddit.com/ Bitcoin/comments/7izq68 The original post's content was as follows:
I don't get how the futures price can sensibly be $2000 above the market price. Why would someone agree to pay 13% more for BTC in a month than what they could simply buy them for today?
It's an artificially inflated price. You take tokens off the market by "investing" the tokens in "ICOs" which then give you different tokens. This is nothing but smoke and mirrors, beware. /r/Bitcoin
ELI5 why if bitcoin is a globally connected currency, why different markets have drastically different buying and selling prices(ie Zimbabwe/europe)? /r/Bitcoin
This is a special number, because if bitcoin reaches this price level, its market capitalization will be equal to gold’s market valuation. Jeet Signh An important portfolio manager that worked for more than six years in the cryptocurrency world, predicted this year that Bitcoin could reach $50,000 dollars. Market capitalization (often shortened to market cap) is the approximate total value of a cryptocurrency, typically shown in US dollars. The market cap of a cryptocurrency is calculated by multiplying the number of coins or tokens in existence by its current price. These price fluctuations are much more frequent than those in stock markets. For example, the price of Bitcoins fluctuated between $5000 and $18000 in a week during the year 2018. You can predict the price movements and book immense profits. To begin trading in the cryptocurrency market, a trader needs a platform or software. After a sharp decline early in the week, bitcoin prices have stabilized around $8,000, and while plenty of market pundits provided supposed reasons for the recent selloff, the most likely explanation is that the market simply got too overheated at the end of 2017. Outside of the price action, there […] Bitcoin was founded by Satoshi Nakamoto ( the real identity of Nakamoto is still a mystery) in 2009. Most of you have heard/read about Bitcoin in 2017 when the price of Bitcoin is soaring and increasing daily. Bitcoin is the first decentralized blockchain system that doesn’t require any third parties to confirm the transactions.
