Gerry rigging a battery connection for a riding mower / Servicing something that's betting sitting for a year.
I just inherited a Craftsman DRM500 riding mower from my FiL. I was told all it needed was a new battery. I went to an auto parts store and bought a new battery, foolishly leaving the square nuts still in the old battery terminal. As a result, there is nothing for me to screw in so that the wires will secure against the terminals. I tried electrical tape, but the engine still won't crank, suggesting to me that the battery isn't installed properly. Any ideas? The nuts are M6-1.0s and I can't find them in any hardware store. I found them online, but the shipping is 10x the cost of the item. Also, what do I need to do to service this engine that's been sitting idle for over a year? Thanks

The Japanese conglomerate said in August that it was starting a new unit to trade public securities, pushing beyond its traditional base in telecommunications and private startup investments. Bloomberg reported in August that SoftBank was targeting investments of more than $10 billion, perhaps tens of billions, and would use financing structures that would allow the company to avoid showing up in public disclosures of shareholding. The Japanese company’s derivatives strategy has been built over the past few months, the FT cited the people as saying, adding that SoftBank has spent about $4 billion on options premiums focused on tech stocks over that time. I pass through a series of small towns (population under 10000) every day, so my best best would be to just go to multiple places rapidly and check (bike, no car). I will pay for the electricity via donation. I have an extension cord. What I'll check: - Library for internal or external outlets - Parks including recreation complexes - Mechanic shops, ask to use and/or pay - Provincial parks (comfort stations 90% of the time have these) - Non-busy convenience stores - Train stations Some of these tips I gleaned from this subreddit, any other ideas?
