You used to be able to find cheat codes for video games with very little effort and now on mobile gaming you have to pay to cheat. Whoever thought of that deserves a hug since I bet they aren't profiting off of it.
Building a PC is actually more entertaining than you think. However if you don't like to do research about a part's specs, then you might not find this helpful. This is how you will truly value your PC, this way you will look at your PC and know its worth, instead of looking at a box shape with some lights. This guide is useful when building from scratch, since it will go through all parts one by one in the best possible order to greatly reduce the amount of times you have to go back and change parts. (You might not even have to go back and change parts at all). If you need to upgrade and/or still looking for parts, skip to the respective section for the part, you will profit aswell from reading this guide. "The most important part is to HAVE FUN!" -Waffler11 Before we start, there are a some things that you have to be clear about:
This guide will not Build the PC for you. This is a guide for you to know what to look for and which parts are most suitable for your build.
Read every single thing you don't know about each part's specs, obviously you don't have to go crazy with all things. I will be mentioning things that YOU NEED to look for, but the more curious you are the better.
This will help you easily determine most incompatibilities and help you build everything part by part so you don't have to go back to a specific part and change it over and over.
Organization
Google for your preferred web page for building PCs. I don't want to seem like promoting a Webpage in particular, but PcPartPicker worked great for me and they give you warnings regarding incompatibility. (Other websites might do the same).
Ask yourself: "For what am I building this PC". To run a game in particular? perhaps to have the best of the best? who knows? Only you. It is based on this that you will build your PC and estimate a budget (notice how I said estimate a budget, because it will vary as you learn more about PC parts).
Once you know what you want your PC for, you will have to preplan. This is having an idea of what GPU you need to run certain games, and is actually the most notorious part of a PC, so think of one, but might not be the definitive GPU (you might even want to change GPU brands).
What if you want to choose the Monitor first? No problem at all, you can also choose your desired GPU based on the Resolution and Refresh Rates you wish to play. In this case if you want to know which monitor will be the best for you, scroll down to the "Monitor" part of the Guide. (Keep in mind that prioritizing the Monitor means you have to try to keep the GPU that can run at the desired Resolution and Refresh Rates while also keeping in mind any bottleneck from both GPU and CPU)
Notice: Some RGB counterparts will be more expensive, so if you want a lot of RGB on your PC, you know what to expect on that budget. More on this as the guide goes on. First Part: CPU Forget about that beautiful case you saw somewhere or those cool shaped RAMs or the flashy Motherboard, CHOOSE A CPU FIRST. How To Choose A CPU For Your Needs
First of all, know your options, Intel and AMD are both very good, check out for those 2.
Please take your time to read about the CPU specs. Things to look for are Cores, Threads, Base Clock, Boost Clock and their general performance in your trusted benchmark webpage. All these specs differ from Generation and Model.
You don't have to worry between AMD, Intel and Nvidia CPUs and GPUs not working properly together or being incompatible, they will work smoothly in any combination.
Consider for the future about Single, Dual and Quad Channel. This is for the RAM, I suggest you read about these now and choose a CPU which supports these Channels. Having more than Single Channel will increase the RAMs brandwidth, leading to increased Memory Read, Write, Copy and Brandwidth.
Stock coolers usually comes with a stick thermal paste already applied as well as some coolers from other brands that you but some may not have the paste applied, so its good that you read if they will have it already applied or not.
Thermal Paste: Keep in mind that eventually you will need to reapply paste if you move the cooler, if you notice an unusual increase in your temps or after a few years. In which case you can get a good Thermal Paste, they are are relatively cheap, make a big impact on your CPU temperatures and are easy to apply. So there is no harm getting a Thermal Paste, just make sure you get a quality thermal paste. And yes, some reduce temperatures better than others but also the way you apply it and the amount you apply helps reducing temperatures, look for the best way and quantity.
Notice: You don't necessarily have to prioritize the GPU over the CPU, this is just in case you plan on only playing less demanding popular games like, CS:GO, LoL, Valorant, etc. they don't require the best of GPUs out there so you can go for a better CPU. Second Part: Case Cases comes in many sizes, the 3 most popular ones are: Full Tower, Mid Tower and Mini-ITX. Check out each of these case's sizes and spacing. Some cases of the same size category will vary in sizes, and some times not fit the motherboard of the specific size category. For Ex: An ATX case might be smaller than most ATX cases and an ATX motherboard might not fit properly, so also checking the cases's dimensions where the motherboard will be placed, it is important to be aware of these scenarios.
Keep in mind the size of your GPU (since it takes a lot of space) to make sure it fits on your case. New Gen GPUs are being manufactured in a bigger size.
It's time to choose the manufacturer, they will mostly vary in Aesthetics however keep in mind, you should probably want to make sure the case has good "Airflow", the name itself tells you what it is, but look it up if you are not sure. Best way to make sure the case has good airflow is to check reviews... multiple reviews, and good ones where they will specify what room temp they had during the test so you get an idea.
Make sure you get a modern case, you won't regret it but you might want a modern case so you can use all of the motherboard's ports and not waste a single penny also when upgrading the motherboard, since you are more likely to change the motherboard before the case (this is another reason why the case is the second part).
Check what's in the box for the case you want to choose, it might not come in with enough fans than you expected, or maybe it won't come with some of the things you see in some pictures.
Third Part:GPU You probably did not expected this but, there is nothing complicated about GPUs.
Look for features about each GPU brand and model, there are brands and model with their own features that is why I can't list them to you, depends on what brand you choose.
You have already chose a Brand because you knew which one would run the game you want to play, or maybe you changed brands and models. Either way, now it's time for you to look about the specifications: Base Clock, Boost Clock & Memory Size. (I want you to look at this because they vary depending on Brand, Model and Series and they give you an idea on which you would rather choose)
Now you most likely already decided your Brand, Model and Series for the GPU, check out the Display Connectors and keep that in mind, we will need this for the monitor.
Notice: The more Memory Capacity the GPU has does not mean better performance. Fourth Part: Motherboard Ah yes, the motherboard, remember the CPU you chose? and the case you chose? here is where you will be limited to your motherboard choosing. (choosing the right motherboard might take awhile specially with all the features one motherboard can have and all the different variations). Also you might come across SLI (for Nvidia) and/or CrossFire (for Radeon). Before you get hyped, games need to be SLI/CrossFire compatible and not to mention that sometimes it will not work with different GPUs Architecture. So instead of spending money for this feature in a motherboard and for 1 extra GPU, your best choice is for a single high-end GPU. (Also with the amount of power and performance on the new gen GPUs, SLI and CrossFire are less worth. *IMPORTANT: Please read motherboard specs and features, literally anything you don't know, look up what it is, this is critical for building a PC. Looking for everything will also let you easily identify incompatibilities. Some motherboards does not include Sound Card and/or Wi-Fi cards.
First, and I mean it, first you must make sure that your motherboard fits the case, motherboards commonly come in mini ITX and ATX, look those up in google and make sure which size is the one for your case (obviously you will realize a mini ITX motherboard can actually be used on a mid tower or bigger).
Now you will choose a motherboard with the right Socket depending on the CPU you chose.
Now make sure that the motherboard's BIOS is up to date with the CPU you chose, or you will get firetrucked up yours. Pro Tip: google "Best motherboards for [CPU of your choosing]".
Another important thing to consider for a motherboard, if it supports Dual Channel & Quad Channel.
Great, with all those 4 filters, you can freely look for a nice looking Motherboard for your PC build and read the specs, yes please read them you won't regret it. Specially since I almost bought a motherboard dedicated for custom water cooling, I was about to pay extra for nothing.
Some other important things to look for in a motherboard are the amount of VRM and their quality. The amount of Memory Type and also how much Memory Speed is supported, the storage drives slots available. Another lesser thing to look for in a motherboard, is that each motherboard brand offers their unique features, check them out if you feel like and see which one you like the most.
Notice: Wi-Fi Cards are not mandatory, they are more of an option. Fifth Part: RAM There is more to look for a RAM than you might think, don't just look for a RAM based on the amount of GBs it has. RAM comes in different Memory Type and have different Memory Speed and CAS Latency, check out what role both of these terms play in a PC to choose your preferred one.
You can buy individually RAM usually comes in pair, properly named as "RAM Kit", which some are 8GB (2x4) or 16GB (2x8) or 32GB (4x8) or 32GB (2x16) etc. If you still haven't figured it out, let me explain: Ex. we have 16GB (2x8). The "16GB" is the total memory capacity, this total memory capacity is divided into 2 different RAM sticks, each one with 8GB capacity. (Think carefully which kit you choose, since your Motherboard has limited RAM slots).
Which RAM to choose? one that does not exceeds the Motherboard's max Memory Capacity and that is the right Memory Type for your motherboard while also making sure the RAM can run with the CPU. Another pro-tip: google "best ram for [CPU of your choosing]".
Remember about Single, Dual and Quad Channel. Be sure to check if both the motherboard and CPU are compatible with Dual Channel and/or Quad Channel.
Once you have chosen a RAM brand, and want to increase your RAM Memory Capacity, you have buy the same brand of RAM and RAM Model.
You can freely choose the RAM's Aesthetics you like the most (also, RAM can be more expensive just because they have RGB). There is a catch though, look up if any Brand's RAM model has any known issue with certain motherboards or CPUs. Since looks might be deceiving.
Sixth Part: Storage Probably the simplest part, SSD is a lot more faster and expensive than the HDD, so much faster that if you have an SSD and you don't install windows on the SSD you must really enjoy looking at your OS booting up.
SSD is faster for gaming, yes, game loading times is not mainly determined by GPU, its by storage drives. But SSD gets expensive as you get more Storage capacity, so you can have SSDs and HDDs both in the same motherboard, if your motherboard has the designated storage slots for the drives.
Look for these terms: Form Factors for Storage Drives, SSD, HDD, Write/Read speed, Random write/read IOPS.
Check special features for each individual storage drive from each brand.
Seventh Part: Cooler This will be long because of all the different things to cover. First of all, Search what OverClocking a CPU is. You don't need to know how to OverClock yet, as it also depends on which CPU you chose, but if you are interested in OverClocking, I recommend you learn how a CPU Clocks and Voltages works together, then you learn how to OverClock. Answer these questions:
Does your CPU comes with a stock cooler?
Yes
No
Do you plan on OverClocking your CPU?
You must buy a Cooler
Yes
No
Highly recommended to buy a Cooler
You don't need to buy a Cooler
(If you are reading from mobile, there is a table that won't properly show. The table determines whether you should buy or not a cooler based on your plans) *If you don't want/need to buy a cooler you can skip to the next part* There are Air Cooler and Water Cooler (AIO). AIOs are water coolers already built that will only require screwing to mount and do not take up much space, perfect for RGB builds. However, AIOs might not fit your Case and some Air Coolers are not compatible with your motherboard.
First choose if you are going with Air Cooling or AIO, both are good ways to cool the hottest of CPUs, so don't think Water is worthless or Air is worthless.
Check out which cooler you like the most and take these into consideration: How much they can cool the CPU during load and idle times while considering how much noise (dBA) they produce the harder they have to work to cool the CPU. (The amount of noise is personal preference, if you want a quieter place or don't mind the little noise)
After choosing one, make sure it fits your case and/or it is compatible with your motherboard. Best way to check this is looking for Reviews, Youtube videos for the specific case and cooler or asking on Reddit or the Cooler's webpage might provide that information. (Yes, if you know the measurements of the case and the Coolers it should fit, but there could be some exceptions or a little piece from the inside which will block the cooler, best bet is the 3 previous suggestions).
Notice: I do not talk about custom water cooling, there is no specific way to install it so you would have to carefully measure and get the individual parts. Also installing such cooler is a lot harder very expensive and you would have to really enjoy working hard to give it maintenance. I would suggest you stick with traditional coolers. Eighth Part: Power Supply Unit Hopefully the webpage you chose to build your PC is able to estimate your fully built PC's Watts consumption, from this estimate you will choose a proper PSU. Before we go on, forget anything you read about PSUs, this part has a lot of mixed "opinions". Once you read more and more about PSU you can have your own opinion about PSUs.
Look what are the differences between a Fully Modular, Semi Modular and Non Modular PSU. (Fully Modular becomes more expensive, but opens up for more compatibility and any future parts upgrade, this is a very important thing to consider, however you might not need a Fully nor a Semi Modular PSU).
It is important to check the PSUs Certification. Any Certified PSU is a safe choice, you might want to read why PSU are certified and what each type of certification means.
Now like any other part, PSUs also comes in with different features depending on the brand and their different models. Also keep in mind the most important things to look in a PSU is the amount of output pin slots and the size of the PSU will fit your case.
Monitor You sure have one in mind, but listen carefully, read about every terms in a monitor, know what those 1ms Response Time and 144hz Refresh Rate you often see on the specifications mean.
Be mindful when choosing a Monitor Size, a 27" 1080p monitor looks like it has less Resolution than a 24" 1080p monitor, and this is because of the PPI. Look up what that is and then you can have an idea of what would be the ideal Monitor Size and Resolution.
There are 3 different panels for monitors: IPS, VA, & TN. Each of this panels offer different functionality. It is something important to take into consideration.
Now, if your GPU has an HDMI 2.0, to fully take advantage of your GPU, get a Monitor with an HDMI 2.0, maybe your GPU has DisplayPort 1.4, which offers more bandwidth than HDMI 2.0, then you would want to consider buying a monitor with DisplayPort 1.4. Look all about the different Video Connectivity Protocols. Keep in mind that you don't need to have the exact same protocol on both ends, for Ex.: You can connect the DisplayPort cable, from the 1.4 on your GPU into the 1.2 into your Monitor and work fine.
Again, each Brand and their models have different features and design, look around which one you like the most.
That is all about the crucial parts of a PC, you can then add another GPU, or another case fan, or a toy, even a toy, like an anime figurine or whatever, seems to be trendy now a day. Hopefully you found this useful in any way possible, and I would be a very proud to know you read everything just to build your PC, your "Baby" if you will. I'll leave these useful web pages that I personally think you should know about while building a PC. CPU-world.com - Use this to check out all information about a certain CPU. (Don't let the weird names and numbers scare you) Pangoly.com - A website to Build your PCs and is also very good when you want to compare different part options. Obviously you can also use YouTube and Reddit for reviews and/or specific questions, comparisons and statistics. Please consider leaving any kind of feedback, if there is something that should be reviewed/changed on this guide, do let me know so I can work on it ensure this guide as flawless as possible. Other than that comment anything you did like, as always following this subreddit's rules, I will be more than happy to read all comments/questions. I would also appreciate anyone else answering other users questions as you would be helping me out while I am busy on something else. Message for this post: Some may have felt let down by the guide, most of you appreciated it and I did not expect this guide to blow up like this. I personally made this from my own experience and my goal was to encourage people to research everything themselves when building a PC. when I did it myself, I enjoyed it very much. The title seems misleading yes, it is a lot of "google this and that" and less of a glossary for you to know what each thing is. But I am not going to leave it like this. Thanks to all the feedbacks I have been getting in the comments, all the incorrect points and other points I missed, I will fix them and soon enough this guide should be good for anyone reading this. I ask you to not stop commenting out these important details, let us together finish this guide, after all I started to grow fond of thebuildapcsubreddit and I want the best for everyone here. Thank you all for the support and critics.
When I look at the sentiment surrounding GameStop, it doesn’t take very long to see commentslikethese, yet here we are. What’s going on? Are people that stupid? Just jumping on the new console cycle? Idiots not pulling their gains and going to zero? When even wsb thinks the stock is a dud, it must be right? Nearly 120% short interest, yet the stock is up nearly 40% this week.
Its no secret GameStop has been hurting. The secular shift to digital has been pressuring them for some time with their highest margin category - used video software – under significant distress. Each year their gross margins contract with net income in the red these past few quarters. Everybody has written them off as the easiest short in the world, however I'm going to try to explain whats going on and tell you that buying GameStop may not be as bad as you think.
II. CONSOLES
Just to start things off, you have to remember we’re in the beginnings of the new console cycle. But what does that even mean? Well the advent of new consoles means new trade-ins, new product, new customers, and a fresh spike in GameStop’s popularity. Sales have stagnated the years prior, and they are all but certain to go up and remain elevated for the next 1-2 years. Note that against all counts, the company was actually profitable during the 2019 holiday season, with new consoles you can bet that they will annihilate all expectations and proceed into 4-8 more positive quarters off the cyclic shift. This is pretty unanimous, and everyone accepts that they will start reporting positive going forward. In fact, new console cycles are where GME has historically spiked.
III. POST CONSOLE CYCLE
At this point, the focus turns to what happens once the hype dies down. Digital will continue to erode upon physical, but the key factor here is that physical is not actually dying off. Its notgoing to zero. The biggest reason physical is sequentially a lower percentage of the market is because the total market size is increasing. Digital is shooting off while physical is largely stagnant. Note that physical games admittedly have their strengths. Not only are they structurally cheaper because you can resell them, they also have clear definitions of ownership and the collectability factor where you need to have a physical copy you can hold. In fact, two thirds of console video game players prefer physical vs digital.
While physical is here to stay, albeit at a weaker level, that isn’t enough to turn the tides for GameStop. You see, GameStop knows digital is the trend and here to stay, they are not fighting it, they are moving along the secular shift. GameStop sells digital games. GameStop is set to release a mobile app combining Game Informer and a online storefront by month end. They are doubling down on their online store with +500% ecommerce growth in Q1 and +800% growth in Q2. Expanding into numerous other categories. Nearly 70% of their online orders were fulfilled on the same day leveraging their wide network of stores, of which they are pruning the excess. Also, Game prices are set to increase $10.
GameStop’s Loyalty Program accounts for over 55M users. They intend on leveraging this network though a company branded credit card with spending rewards to grab market share and retain customers. Furthermore, a digital revenue sharing model continues to grow as publishers understand the value of GameStop as a customer acquisition service and that keeping the company afloat is better for sales and the general video game industry. (See the fall of Toys R us and its impact on Mattel/Hasbro; turns out the manufacturers really needed ToysRUs)
VI. BALANCE SHEET
But wait, their financials must be shit right? They have to be losing money. How much longer can they last?
Well it turns out their books are rock solid. They offered their creditors a new set of terms to push back debt for 2 years, 50% of them took it. They have eliminated all excess goodwill impairments. They are in a $300M net cash position with significantly reduced inventory (which explains the sharp reduction in Q1/2 sales) and massively cut SG&A by 28% in preparation for the console cycle. FCF KING
Many believe the days of their strong margins are long gone, but in fact its only beginning. You have to remember, digital is only outpacing NEW physical games. Retro games are a huge untapped market where GameStop can replicate their past success, and it is a category digital can never penetrate. Jesus wtf. GameStop is looking into these already
V. MAJOR BACKING
In fact, their ecommerce prospects are so promising, Ryan Cohen bought a 10% stake. This guy took on Amazon and won. Jefferies and Telsey, wall street firms, came out with strong buy ratings citing company prospects. Michael Burry still holds a 5% stake. This guy took on Wall Street and won. Half their creditors ($200M worth) believe in GameStop’s prospects. Why would they defer their debt unless they believed the company will be in a paying position by 2023?
VI. THE SHORTS
But here is the real kicker. GameStop’s short float. 120% has never been seen before. The short theory was that GameStop would not make it to the new console cycle and the shorters would collect their tendies. But GameStop made it. Current short fees are like 60% and from some figures we can draw on, we estimate that around 70% of the shorts got in under $7, GameStop is currently nearing $10. 70% of the shorts are underwater. Even if you don’t believe that any of their initiatives will work you have to admit that the company will be able to continue operating for another two years off the new console hype alone. When the stock hits roughly $15, we can expect to see several margin calls trigger a fucking massive short squeeze. For reference, Blue Apron, Volkswagen.
VII. CONCLUSION
Just the fact GME got to the new console cycle must be making the shorts cry. Add on that they’ve been making serious progress towards online and mobile presence, aligning themselves with industry trends, operating in a growing market, potential monopoly in the untapped retro market, solid financials, beginning their new upward cyclic cycle; you have the makings of a powerful ecommerce storefront just leaning into their growth period. Even post console hype, they should be able to leverage their branded credit card to retain a huge number of customers and bite off huge market share off other retailers. Lastly, remember that despite the trend towards digital, its in the gaming industry's best interest to keep GameStop going strong. The likelihood of additional revenue sharing agreements are fairly high.
For comparison GameStop has a P/S ratio 0.11. Chewy has a P/S ratio of 3.6. If GME begins to grow their revenue from this point its valuation will begin to normalize. Even a P/S of 0.2 would mean a stock price of ~$16, 0.4 would mean $32. The company is going to ride the console hype and likely trigger more than a few margin calls along the way. Everything management has been doing is to ride the new cycle into a fluid ecommerce business model, and everything I'm seeing suggests its going to work.
Small reviews of (I think) all incremental games I've ever played on Android
I don't know if this will be useful to anyone. So I write a line or two about every game I play, and decided to find all the incremental in my game journal and post them here. It starts with the latest games I've played and I think goes back to several years back. One thing I've realized is I have such a love-hate-hate relationship with this genre since I think I've hated 90% of the games and 100% of myself after each incremental phase. I usually angrily stop playing them for a while and restart them again, so this is more or less a journal of addiction, I suppose. THE BEST GAMES I'VE PLAYED ARE THESE (no order):
Kittens Game
Antimatter Dimensions
Oil Tycoon
Honorable Mention: Eggs, Inc The rest: more or less hated it Additional comment if you decide to scan through it, I complain a lot, so it is perfectly reasonable and normal to think, "why the fuck are you even playing these games, idiot??". ------ Time Idle RPG This game was confusing. It tells me the game's resources is time, where you get 1 of it every second, but that's not really something as unique as I assumed. It would have been cool if time as resources meant you used it to deal with something related to time. Maybe time travel? Maybe slowing and speeding time? Instead time as resource buys you stuff like a library. And then you buy a camp or something. Honestly, I wasn't really feeling it. 2 Path of Idling The biggest cardinal sin for me when it comes to incremental is when a game has a lot of features and it just completely throws them all at you instantly. The joy of a great incremental is how things slowly open up and each new achievement feels progress. The game is a RPG game and these are the things that opened up for me in the first few hours. Combat which includes normal fighting, dungeon, raid, boss, PVP (locked, but it just needs an ascend, which I haven't done) Skills Hero upgrades which include Passive (strength, defence, stamina, intelligence), Train, and a huge Tree Town which you can buy workers who get you various things like gold, orbs, knowledge, etc. You can upgrade stuff here. Quest that also includes Perks and Skill quests. Gear which 5 equipment slots, plus craft plus trade plus smelt Also gear for your Pet, which is also another tab! Now, here is the thing. Because I have all of this pretty much instantly, I don't really know which ones are helping me go past a well. How is adding 10 points in strength helping me? Should I have added five in strength instead and five in defence? I have already bought 20 or so upgrades in the Tree, but I have no idea if I am made the optimal choice. There is no real excitement with getting new gear. And so on. The dev has added a lot of features, now it's time to rework the game, and have the features take their time. 2 Idle Slayer The game is like a super simple platformer. Your character is running and any enemy it hits, it automatically slays it. There is no HP, and all enemies die in one shot. Your only active play is jumping occasionally to grab coins or hit the flying enemies. Also, you have a run skill that has a cool down. With the coins, we get new weapons that give us more coins. Enemies give us souls which is used for the prestige system that provides us with an interesting skill tree which provides a lot of choices on the path you want to do in terms of upgrades. So far excellent, however, the game has an extremely serious issue of pacing. The game initially progresses so fast that in the first hour or so, you get almost all the weapons aside from the last two, which then grinds down to a snail pace. You can upgrade your past weapons, but they never really get into play again. Reaching high levels of past weapons sometimes gave me upgrades of that weapon of 10,000% but they still did nothing to my overall coin per second. I think the pacing needs to be fully reworked. It would have been nice to get new weapons after certain prestige cycles, so that every new weapon feels like we have passed a significant wall. The best part of an incremental game for me is to face a wall, and when I finally break it, I feel powerful again for a while. This game feels like this though, powerful powerful powerful powerful WALL........break it....WALL. And so on. I'm still playing it as I want to get some of the skills, but I feel like it could have been so much better. 4 Exponential Idle A very back to the foundation kind of incremental. The premise is that you are a student and working on a formula. There is a neat story where as you progress in the game, your character progresses through university. Each upgrade gives you more and more automation until I reached a stage where I would check back once every 2 or 3 days, click a 2nd layer prestige reset, and close it. Meaning the game was something like 5 seconds of game player every 2 days. I just opened it for this review and realized I had reached the end game. The story wraps up and it tells me "You can take a rest. Travel a bit. Go outside!" NO, DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO GAME. 3 Factoid Factoid & Spark should have the same review as they are almost the same game with only small differences. The games are the most basic kind of incremental, where you buy something with resources, until you get the next thing which gives you more of the resources. Both give you upgrades to speed things up, and finally prestige and it's own prestige upgrades. That's it. It's nice little change of pace from all the recent incremental that sometimes do too much, but obviously due to the very simple nature of it, it does eventually feel pointless, specially after you more or less open up everything and the prestige upgrades just keep repeating. 3 Spark Factoid & Spark should have the same review as they are almost the same game with only small differences. 3 Antimatter Dimensions Easily top 5 incremental on mobile. Does everything perfectly. You progress nicely, and when new features open it, not only is it rewarding but more importantly, it keeps adding new dimensions (lol) to the game. I'd at the end game as I write this, and I realize that there was no point in the game where it felt stale. Each new prestige layer made the game feel fresh and almost like a new incremental game. 5 Melvor Idle It seems this game was mainly aimed at Runescape players, which is probably why it didn't click for me. It also run extremely slow on my phone which also played a part in me not really getting into. 2 A Girl Adrift The animation is really pretty and is a nice change of pace for incrementals, but I didn't really like the too much active play. Really had to keep going back and forth to different areas to do the fishing which got too repetitive for me. You travel to different areas of the map to catch fish, which you get points and then you upgrade stuff, but I didn't really find any real excitement about the upgrades because I kept having to go back to previous areas to fish similar creatures. 3 Archer: Danger Phone I'm really annoyed how terrible of a game this was. Two things I like, the TV show "Archer" and incremental games, and it's done in the most lazy manner. The game is the worst aspect of idle games where it's just a straight path of clicking the next upgrade with absolutely zero decision making. Every once in a while there is a mini game where Archer gets to shoot others but it's done in the most basic form of early 2000s flash games, where the animation budget is probably 3 dollars. Same static background and both enemies and Archer have just two animation frames. The absolute laziness of it is almost insulting to the player, because it feels like we aren't even worth the effort. There is an Archer story in the game which develops really fast, which is the only positive part, but no voice acting is again another evidence that the creators of the game weren't given any budget for this. 1 Home Quest This game is way too slow. You have to collect materials to build your settlement but everything takes time, so you click for a few seconds, and then you have to leave the game. Which I'm fine with, but the problem isn't the idle part of it, it's how the idle part of it combines with constant checking of the game which annoys me. I like an idle game where you forget to start the game for a day, you come up to a lot of resources, but this is a game which needs you to check back in every 30 minutes or an hour to really get anywhere. I felt that the micromanagement was getting worse as I progressed (without any actual thing to do when I am active in the game) that made me give up. 2 Idle Industry This is probably an interesting game, but I gave up because the one thing I really disliked was the amount of resources and manufacturing that very quickly opens to you. You can buy raw materials, and you can either sell these raw materials or turn them into finished goods and sell them either. And each of these has several upgrade options (increase selling price, increase production, etc). Without even really getting too deep into the game, I have around 20 raw materials and around 30 finished products. A satisfying part of this genre is to have things slow open up for you, which gives me a decent feeling of satisfaction. But the money I got would quickly open up new products, so I would just jump ahead and purchase more expensive ones, and after a while I had a lot of materials and products at zero, and was instead focusing on latter ones. 2 Masters of Madness Somewhat neat atmosphere and visuals, but too much active clicking. Click, upgrade to get more per clicks, get minions to get you some points without clicking, typical clicker, but with the added benefit of almost no idling. I like idling incrementals but clickers is a hard no from me. 1 Soda Dungeon 2 Basically similar to the first one, as far as I could tell. I did "finish" it but maybe I shouldn't have, since it really is the same thing from early on, specially once you get all the heroes and you kind of sort out which characters work best, then it's just the same. But because it was somewhat short and no real wall, it was at least easy to stick to it to the end. 2 Bacterial Takeover Played for a decent amount and was actually more interesting that I thought, given the buttload of ad incentives. You create and upgrade bacteria, attack planets, and eventually go into a blackhole to prestige. Most of the game was good, but the part that killed it for me was the prestige system. Once you prestige, planets get super easy to attack, which becomes a lot of active play. I realized that each prestige was taking me at least 30 minutes to get to where I was, and it was just meaningless clicking. It got to a point where I was putting off prestige because it seemed like it would be a hassle so I stopped. 2 LogRogue Cute graphics. The hero sort of hopping to hit the tiny monsters is cute to look at, but how long can you look at it and do nothing before you realize that it's boring? I suppose this is a game where it's just not for me. I don't like to have my phone open on a game and just watch it like a crazy person and do nothing. My rule is simple for incrementals. While the app is open, be active, if there isn't any choices to make, close the app while resources build up or whatever. I don't like it being open while I do nothing. 3 A Kittens Game Incremental games are so strange. I get in and out of the phases. I loved this for so long and so obsessively that I wanted to only play incremental games. And then, just like that, I was wondering why the fuck I was wasting my time with this. Has happened countless times before. But still probably the best incremental ever. 5 A Dark Room An incremental cult classic of sorts but I don't find it really matches the genre. There is a bit of incremental at the beginning with people huts and stuff but then its just a ascii exploring game, which wasn't interesting to me. 2 Little Healer Saw it mentioned in the Reddit incremental forum in one of the posts and thought it was a healer themed incremental which sounded neat. But it's like being a healer in a raid in World of Warcraft without any if the extras. Just a couple of bars representing your team mates and you healing them while they fight the boss. I didn't even like playing the healer in WoW so no way would I play this game. 1 Clickie Zoo Started playing for a few days until I realized there a beta released with the dev reworking the game completely from scratch and releasing it as "Idle Zoo Tycoon". So, played that instead but this seemed like a game I would enjoy anyway. 4 Idling to Rule the Gods The UI and one drawing if your character is really ugly enough to be distracting to me. The game, seemed interesting and I eventually was into it, but seems like a game that has been constantly being updated, which is not always a good thing, because features are obviously updated regularly to it, making the whole thing a bit bloaty. I guess, this is the problem with this game for me, it's too fat. Also, one main part of the game is that your character creates Shadow Clones up to a maximum limit. Which is fine except the clones can't be made in offline mode. This might not be a big deal in its original web browser game but that doesn't work as well in a mobile format. 2 Realm Grinder This is one of the really popular incremental and it's fanbase seems to love it for it's depth, but to be honest, I don't play these games for the depth, I play it for the simple dopamine rush of doing the same thing over and over again. It relaxes. Although, I didn't even get to the depth part because I dislike games where it rushes in the beginning. I constantly bought buildings, got spells, and got upgrades without even looking at the description. Apparently, later on, we can get complicated race upgades, which seems not what I'm looking for in such a genre. 2 Spaceplan A short (!!) incremental with an actual story (!!!). That's two cool points for it but unfortunately, the game mechanics of increment genre isn't so good. It's a space game with nice visuals and a great ending (cool music set to cool graphics) but the game itself wasn't really that fun. This same exact game would have been better in a different genre (maybe something like "Out There"?) 3 Zombidle Felt like idle games again and this is the kind of examples that kept me away. Too much clicking and seems like advancement will start to get irritating since it relies on IAPs 2 Eggs, Inc While I was playing it, Eggs, Inc was probably my favorite Android game I had ever played. But like most incremental games, there comes a moment when I suddenly stop and think, what am I doing? Because there is something fascinating about Incrementals. Their addictiveness is in a way the whole point. An incremental is less of a game and more an act of electronic addictiveness. What's the point? Eggs, Inc is a very well made and fun incremental but even the best in its genre is still pointless. 4 Castle Clicker Supposedly a mix of incremental and city building but didn't really find out since the clickings were way to much. I know this is supposed to be the genre but I like the incremental part more than the tapping part. This seemed to be a good way to hurt your fingers. 2 Endless Era This RPG clicker game is like other such games but with horrible GUI and animations. Tap tap tap. It's my fault for downloading such games. Why would I ever think this would be fun??? 1 Idle Quote An incremental game with a unique twist. This time we get to make up quotes! The first negative about the game and this irritates me a lot is most of the quotes are fake. A quick search on Google and this proves it. Quotes are generally attributed to Buddha or Ghandi or shit like that and it's usually fake like most quotes on the internet. This kills the major possible advantage of the game because I thought coming up with arbitrary words would at least give me some quotes to learn. Aside from the this, the game isn't fun either because it slows down very quickly meaning you combine words very slowly at a certain stage of the game and then it becomes a boring grind. 2 Monster Miser An incremental game with almost no graphics. We just see character portraits of monsters which we buy and then upgrade until we buy the next monster. Eventually we prestige which gives us multipliers. The only game choice is choosing between two monsters with each new monster with unique benefits. Annoyingly there is a max limit which I wish didn't exist because I wanted to prestige so much that I would be over powerful in upgrading like that "Idle Oil Tycoon". Still, pointless but reasonably fun. 3 Pocket Politics An incremental take on politics sounds fun but it's so generic that it could have been about anything. A Capitalist idle game or a cooking idle game, it wouldn't matter. IAP was also the usual shitty kind. 1 Time Clickers A shooter incremental sounds like a cool twist but it's not a FPS like I imagined it would be. I'm just stuck in a room and I was shooting blocks. Upgrades didn't give me any enjoyment since I was shooting fucking blocks. 1 Tap Tap Fish - Abyssrium I thought this was going to be relaxing incremental but the ridiculous and generic IAPs and all the social integeration spoil it. Too much time is spent in them asking you to buy or share or tweet or post or give them a blowjob. And there is nothing relaxing about that. 2 Cartoon 999 Incremental game about comic book writers, but not the marvel DC kind, it seemed to be the webcomic one and I think it's a Korean developer so all the characters and injokes made no sense to me. The whole thing was just targeted to a very specific audience. 2 Dungeon Manager Incremental games need to be simple but this is beyond simple, it's just upgrade a fighter to level 5, go to next dungeon character, do the same, and just continue without any of the delicious balancing of upgrades like other idle games. 2 Final Fortress Incremental games are already pointless but when it's super heavy on IAP than its also annoying, but when it always has bugs that doesn't register my offline earnings, then it just needs a uninstall in its face. The zombie skin was also crappy. 1 Mana Maker Here is how I know this clicker isn't very good. It doesn't make me hate all clickers and my life and mobile gaming in general for being so addictive and pointless. So fail, sorry. 2 Infinity Dungeon The usual incremental RPG that I should probably never play again. Starts simple enough and then gets more or a chore as you play. 1 Another incremental game which I had promised myself not to play anymore because they are so pointless and repetitive and endless. Well, this wasn't infinite and had a goal at 999 level so I thought it was good but while the humor was cute, the game did become very repetitive. Every 10 levels the slimes changed but after every 100 levels the whole thing restarted and while the monsters got stronger, I seemed to get even stronger. So the game became easier as I progressed and there was no more challenge. By level 800, I gave up. 2 Tap Dungeon RPG Okay, I'm running out of ways to complain about those incremental RPG games that all have similar problems. It starts off reasonably fast and fun but soon it seems like I am in a data entry job. Doing the same thing over and over again with little changes. 1 Dungeon 999 F: Secret of Slime Dungeon Another incremental game which I had promised myself not to play anymore because they are so pointless and repetitive and endless. 1 Tower of Hero You start on the first floor of the tower and keep fighting your way up by summoning your heroes (by clicking) and recruiting other fighters, get upgrades, level up, and then, ugh, here is the typical incremental RPG part, restart, get items, and do it ALL over again. There is something fun about restarting and getting slowly stronger each time but it also feels so pointless after a while. Such a pointless genre now that I have played a billion of such titles, heh. 3 Pageboy Yet another incremental RPG which I have no idea why I downloaded because I'm sick of the genre. I played a pageboy to a knight who does the fighting while I collect the lot. I collect the loot, buy stuff for the knight, and eventually I restart to do the same thing again and get better items but this game I didn't even RESTART! Because fuck it! Fuck it! 2 Idle Warriors The story is cute. Human population is regressing while monster population is on the rise. So the humans start enslaving monsters to mine for them! The brave warriors beat the crap out of monsters, kidnap the bosses, and enslave them. The animation of monsters slaving away while speech balloons above them talk about their wife and children is funny. But the game itself is another RPG incremental which I should start staying away from. These games are like a chore for me nowadays because I'm doing the same crap again and again. The blame is probably on me because it seems like a reasonably solid game. But hey, fuck it, I PERSONALLY didn't enjoy it. 2 Tap! Tap! Faraway! Any game that is remotely like Tap Titan scares me. They are addictive at first and very fast moving but after every restart gets more and more annoying. It soon turns into a time eating activity with the player having to redo the initial levels to get relics to get better items to progress further to restart to get relics to and so on until the player realizes how much time he is putting in the game for a repetitive activity. 2 Auto RPG Now that is a title the game developers didn't spend too much time on. RPG battles are automatic but I can help out by clicking like a mad man. I started with one hero but would get additional members in my party as the story progressed. Party members receive skills as as they level up and while all the skill usage is automatic, it did give me a sense of progression which is extremely important in a RPG and which I think is usually lacking in incremental games. It usually starts feeling useless but in this game at least there are new maps, new members, and an actual end sight! There is an infinity stage once the last boss is defeated but I am glad the infinity stage happens AFTER the end and it's not the game itself. 4 Merchant Hire a hero and send on to battle. The battles is done automatically and takes time, starts with something short like 10 seconds with each battle taking longer. The loot is raw materials which can be used to craft equipment which also takes real life time with better items taking longer. The crafted items can either be sold or equipped to the hero to make him be able to fight stronger monsters. I was worried I would hate the longer crafting and fighting times because I hate games which I have to watch for a task to finish but even though the durations for longer, I had more to do. However, I don't know what would have happened in the end game because I gave up on it. New maps were exactly like the first map just with different heroes but the progression was similar in each level which felt that I was doing the exact same thing all over again but with longer task times. 2 Idle Oil Tycoon This is the best idle game I played. It's graphics aren't just minor, they are none existent. It's just numbers, so basic that my sister thought I was on a stock market app. It's such a simple concept. Invest, get oil, upgrade then like other idlers restart to get a bonus and do the full thing all over again. When I finished the game, I played the unlimited mode which I played until the unlimited mode couldn't handle the numbers anymore. 5 Soda Dungeon This kind-of Idle Dungeon was great. I started with weak ass fighters who would fight on my behalf while I collected the loot. I then got to use the lot to upgrade the sofa bar to recruit more adventurers. Not sure why it was a sofa bar. Maybe they wanted to make it a family game and not have alcohol? Sounds weird but the sofa element in a RPG game sounds weirder. The game only hit a brick for me when, like most other incremental games, there is no real closure. Once I thought I bet the big bad guy, it just goes on, harder but similar enough with no end in sight. Eventually, we have to stop playing right, but it always feels a bit like a let down when I don't feel like I have finished the game. 4 10 Billion Wives Kept Man Life The two games from this company, 10 Billion Wives and Kept Man Life, have similar strengths and weaknesses. I liked the silly premises from both. In 10BM, I had to get married as much as I could, using the loves I collect to marry more expensive wives! In KML, I'm a boyfriend who doesn't work and I have to please my career gf so she would take care of me. Both start reasonably fast and I was willing to grind through difficult parts but the end game is like a brick wall. Passing through it to get all the achievements is pretty much impossible unless one puts in way too many hours. And it's a shame because I really wanted to get all the achievements to see all the tiny little extra stuff. 3 Adventure Capitalist One of the better incremental games, but now that I am out of the short lived incremental fan phase, I realized how dumb the genre is. Tap, tap, tap, upgrade, do this a million times, reset, and do it all over again like a moron. The game does deserve credits for me acting like a moron and playing it for so long but I also cheated and got free cash and then if occupying became even more pointless. 3 The Monolith A combination of an incremental and a civilization building game seemed like an excellent idea and in some ways, it was, specially how we get to upgrade through the ages from cavemen to futuristic. But no offline feature means that the resets aren't enticing. 2 USSR Simulator An incremental game that has a great theme (USSR!) but absolutely horrible to enjoy, even though I did stick to it. After a certain upgrades, the game just turned into me popping in the game, clicking an upgrade and then forgetting about the game for a few days. 2 RPG Clicker They should call these games tappers not clickers. We are not clicking anything on a touchscreen device. Anyway, tap tap tap level up buy weapons tap tap and uninstall. 1 Logging Quest Logging Quest 2 [Review is for the original and its sequel] There is not much of a difference between the game. I actually played them both at the same time because the actual game is offline. You choose your hero, send them to a dungeon, and then come back to the game after a while to see how well they did. I thought an offline RPG like this might be interesting but then, if you don't really play a game, how much fun can it be? 1 Another pointless incremental. I was in an incremental phase and got so many incremental games that I know realize were absolutely pointless. Hit a tree, buy upgrades, get a new hero, and continue hitting a tree. Not much offline it seems which is what I like about incrementals. 1 Galaxy Clicker A space incremental that should have been a lot of fun. You get to upgrade your spaceship and buy new ones and explorer new planets. But first of all, the interface is so ugly that it makes playing the game less enjoyable. And a lot of things I didn't really get no matter how much I would play like the full exploring planets. The spaceships were nice, so it could have been fun. 2 Megatramp A pretty pointless incremental kind of game. You are a tramp and then you can collect money to buy upgrades to make more money, with no strategy needed, nor any effort needs to be made to hurt your brain cells. 1 Inflation RPG It supposed to be some kind of incremental RPG, I think, which has you resetting and getting more powerful and then fighting monsters to get insane levels. It is very unique but I couldn't get into it. 2 Widget RPG Are you fucking with me? This is button bashing rpg in the most extreme manner. You get a widget, so you don't even have to open the game and distract yourself from the button bushing. Just click the button and the game plays behind the scenes and gets you experience, loot, and kills. It's a ridiculous idea that is fun for a few minutes to see what they come up with but there is only so much button bashing you can do. 2 Capitalist Tycoon I downloaded this game because I was in an incremental/idle game phase and really enjoyed AdVenture Capitalist. But this game is nothing like that. On the surface, it seems similar, buy small investments, make money, buy bigger investments, and so on. But with this game, there is no offline mode, and you keep having to wake up managers, AND the goal is to see how much you make in one year. Bah. I prefer the incremental approach which makes you build and build and build, not try to rush it in just a year. 2 Clicking Bad An incremental clicking game that is themed after Breaking Bad. It is a fun idea it's a very simple game with little to do aside from the obvious of upgrading and upgrading. The only twist might be to balance out making lots of money selling drugs and not attracting the law but even that is only a small challenge at the start. Eventually, you will get enough upgrades to bring the law risk so down that it makes no impact on the game play. 2 Zombie Tapper A super basic incremental clicker game with a zombie team. Click click click to eat brains, use brains (?) to buy zombies to do the brain eating for you and then buy upgrades for your zombies, and buy new zombies and it all feels very pointless. 1 Bitcoin Billionaire I started to enjoy incremental games, but it needs to have a good offline mode, because I don’t want to just play a game where I keep tapping. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t play. I played it, and I played a lot of it, because I could reset the game (like most incremental games) and it gives you a small benefit where you could finish the full game a bit faster (it gives you bonus income). So, I kept finishing and resetting, and each time the start to finish would shorten, so I thought I would reach a stage where I could finish each start-to-finish in an instant! It didn’t happen. I got bored first. 3 Tap Titan An addictive tapping game. Just tap on the creatures, level up, get new skills, hire heroes, and then reset and to it all over again to progress further. It’s an incremental game where it depends on resets to progress, but no real offline bonus, so you have to be playing online. Which got boring, so I installed an app that does the tapping for me, which is actually a stupid way to play the game, but this isn’t an attempt to prove to anyone my intelligence. Anyway, thankfully something went wrong and my progress got deleted, WHICH WAS A GOOD THING, because the game was extremely addictive. 4 God Squad I’ve realized most incremental games are stupid. Tap on monsters to kill, collect gold, buy Roman Gods, level them up, fight other monsters, and then get bored. 1
Bad mouth me and assume I don’t speak the language? I’ll kill you with kindness
Obligatory “I’m on mobile sorry for the formatting.” I am a light skinned Latina American and I lived in Korea for a couple of years during university and grad school, as my major was Korean Interpretation and Translation. During my time in Korea I was lucky enough to attend music shows from time to time. For the kpop uninitiated, music shows are free to enter, provided you have at least 1 of 3 items: a) a copy of the album of the group you’re coming to see, b) proof of purchase of the album digitally on one of the approved music vendors in Korea, or c) the official lightstick from the most recent concert. Priority entry was always given to official fan club members who had all 3, then fan club members who had 2 of the 3, and then fan club members who had one. After that came non-members in the same priority tier. The group I had come to see hadn’t opened official fan club registration in almost a decade, so the group’s management decided to do away with the fan club priority and did it on a first come, first serve basis, but kept the whole 3 items go first, then 2 then 1 thing. I had all three and I got there early, so I got a good spot in line. These queues often had us waiting outside for hours while the previous round of filming finished up. The thing about these music show venues is, they’re very small. They have limited capacity and allow 2-3 groups’ fans in to watch them film at a time, so not all people who queue for a group get in. In this particular instance, there was trouble with foreign fans causing trouble by taking pictures, not listening to instructions, so venue staff literally went through and QUIZZED each foreigner in line on their korean. If you couldn’t understand, you were booted. I passed with flying colors and kept my spot in line. HERE’S WHERE THE REVENGE STARTS. Because of the aforementioned issues, a lot of Korean fans HATED international fans with a passion. For this group in particular so many people were PISSED that they had to wait in line behind foreigners because they’d done away with the official fan club priority. Now here’s me, sitting alone in a queue outside on a hot summer day. A group of Korean girls sat in front of me, and a lone Korean girl talking on her phone sat behind me. I was minding my own business playing games on my phone after passing my Korean quiz with the staff, when I heard the girl behind me talking shit. She was chatting with a friend I suspect because she was dropping a lot of curse words, and specifically mentioned “these foreign roaches ruining things for us. I want to kill them.” She mentioned me in particular and said that she bet I’d bribed the staff to keep my spot in line even though I couldn’t understand Korean. Okay so. It’s harmless shit talk, I don’t know this girl and I don’t know her friend. In the long run, it doesn’t affect me, right? But it really rubbed me the wrong way, especially because she was talking quite loudly. So I grabbed my wallet, politely and quietly asked the Korean girls in front of me to watch my bag and hold my place in line, and went to the convenience store. I bought a round of water for everyone. It was heavy. I had about a dozen bottles of water. I get back to my spot in line, thank the girls in front of me for holding my spot, then gave them each a water. I gave a water to the group in front of them, too. Then I kept one for myself and turned around and handed one to the girl on the phone with a smile. Immediately she lit up and thanked me in English, smiling bright and taking her phone away from her ear. As I hand her her water, I say in perfect Korean and still smiling, “The next time you loudly shit talk the foreigners, make sure they can’t actually understand you.” When I tell you it went silent in the immediate area, you could hear a pin drop. Her smile melted off her face faster than an ice cream cone on Florida pavement. She turned beet red and muttered to her friend on the phone that she had to go and sheepishly apologized. I accepted, she had water, and I felt better about myself. Bonus: the girls in front of me heard the whole thing and adopted me into their group for the day. Fun was had all around. EDIT: typos and formatting EDIT 2: WOW this blew up, thank you all for the awards! Kill ‘em with kindness every day, y’all.
F2P LATE GAME EFFICIENCY GUIDE/ WEAPONS/ARTIFACTS/ RESIN/ CURRENCY/ FARMING
Hey guys, I've super enjoyed this game and experienced and read up on a lot regarding this silly plagiarized gacha game. I am an AR 33 F2P player (although that might change with the upcoming patch in NOV) and have spent a lot of time theory crafting and looking up how to best spend my resources, as any gachagame player will tell you, F2P is all about resource management. Luckily, F2P in Genshin Impact is very forgiving. All content outside of the highest floors of spiral abyss can be cleared with any character you want, even Amber and Bennet can even if the tier lists say they are trash, so clearing content or power generally isn't a "problem" for F2P or Whales till you hit 30+ (which is gacha game hell territory but maybe dont play 10hrs a day like me and wait for the 5week patch structure).Well patch isn't for another 4 weeks so what should I do with the content we have? Well come here come all, if youre looking to build up your favorite character to be a bit stronger or maybe just be a meta slave to be as strong as possible to clear as many abyss floors before reset. DISCLAIMER: There is an overwhelming amount of contradictory information on the web right now, THE GAME IS NEW, ultimately in the next week something new and broken might rear its head (like it did last night). I HOPING TO GIVE A CONSOLIDATED GUIDELINE FOR INEXPERIENCED PLAYERS to move and spend their resources as efficiently as possible to have fun the way they want to. NONE, IF ANY OF THIS IMFORMATION WAS DISCOVERED BY ME. I WISH TO SIMPLY CONSOLIDATE IT FOR OTHERS. SO MOVING ON SPEND YOUR RESIN: try to spend as much resin as possible and do not max out. Once you run out of story quests its only chests, resin tasks, and daily commisions for consistent ARexp. Sure you might get a bit extra from you adventure book too but resin is what makes this a gacha game. Its like not using your stamina in other gachas.(THERE IS A CAVEAT TO THIS PRE AR30 see RESIN) There are a couple of things we should be focusing as a new F2P player in Genshin Impact: PRIMOGEMS/WEEKLYBOSSES: (Character Pulls, Weapon Pulls/Crafting), RESIN REWARDS: [Character Ascension, Character Leveling, Character Talents] {Weapon Ascension, Weapon Leveling} (Artifacts, Leylines) MONSTERS AND CHESTS: [Farmable Ascension Materials, Mora] PRIMOGEMS AND STARMONEY: Character Pulls and Weapon Pulls are generally from Gacha. From this we have 3 currencies to focus on. Primogems and Stardust and Starglitter, As F2P we want to maximize the value out of the few pulls and resources we get. How? One common way is rerolling, which I will not cover here. Do this if there is a character you MUST simp for, but I would HIGHLY suggest against rolling for "meta" or "damage" reasons(which I will cover down the line, F2P can somewhat compete with whales as of now.) Assuming we dont want to reroll we simply spend our primogems on rolls as we get them on single rolls (single rolls are better because you can reset your pity rate for 4stars in less than 10 pulls). Thats it on Primogems, unless you want to spend primogems on Resin, which I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend(you want less gacha pulls in a gachagame?), but if you must (to raise AR or you just REALLY want those ascension mats/artifacts), only spend on the first recharge as gem costs increase as you refill more then spend fragile resins till you hit refresh cap to be efficient. As you pull from the Gacha 4 and 5 star pulls will net you stardust and starglitter, the important part is how to spend these resources. These shops reset monthly and have limited supply. As F2P the only shop you will sell out in is most likely stardust (unless MiHoYo drops 10s of thousands of primogems for free). However for stardust its pretty self explanatory, buy out the 5 intertwined and acquainted fates for extra pulls. After spend on Mora (one of the bigger resource gates late game). Enhancement stones and Adventurers' Experience are generally not worth it but can be an option if you are desperate after the first Mora option is bought out. Monster Drops should be last priority as they are easily farmed. You should not need to save stardust for fates the next month as the shops reset if you do your dailies and just play the game. Starglitter is much rarer as you only receive a few at a time for character pulls. That being said if Amber is your waifu your choice is easy, save for the constellation. Otherwise Razor is a great unit and worth the investment as well to get and get copies up for constellations. I would AVOID spending on extra intertwined and acquainted fate for starglitter as you should get better bang for your buck just picking up Razor and buying a copy of him monthly. That being said if you're a gambler.... be my guest... Its only game....Now Weapons, unfortunately as F2P this far into the game I haven't been able to test any of the weapons... The only one I have heard good things about are blackcliff pole for late game content as the passive scales very well (However there is another busto polearm ill get to later). THAT BEING SAID, if Genshin follows gachagame progression (which it does), buying multiple and refining one of these weapons will likely be one of the most stable ways to reach F2P "endgame" down the line in the upcoming months, so save that glitter!!!!!! But regardless of what characters you pull to keep a general guide we will focus on PURE F2P and assuming NO 4 or 5 star weapons. WE WILL BE APPROACHING WITH A PURE F2P LENS. adapt to your own pulls as necessary and feel free to ask questions on specific character in PMs or in comments. This being said the best F2P characters in MY OPINION for sinking resources into are: XIANG LING, BARBARA, NOELLE Now Weapon Crafting/Refining: The F2P Godsend. Jealous of whales with seemingly OP 5star characters and 5star weapons? DON'T BE! YOU CAN COMPETE! %atk attack modifiers in general are the most important stats in the game for progression some character like support Barbara will scale with HP but that is few and far between. as of now and outside of 5star and 4star gacha weapons there are many great options! There are 2 main weapon types that are best for F2P players MAX refinement 3star weapons and crafted 4star weapons! 3star weapons, as you know, are INCREDIBLY prevalent in the gacha and easy to acquire. They are even available in chests, the F2P grindstone. Max refining these weapons will maximize their passive bonuses and some of these weapons have GREAT passive bonuses allowing you to keep up despite lower base stats on 3star weapons. IN GENERAL these lose out BARELY on performance to the 4star crafted weapons but they are still great to fill out your team for higher abyss floors or if you are missing resources to craft multiple 4star crafted weapons. Next are 4 star crafted weapons. In Mondstat you meet the smith early on in your journey, as you increase in AR (AR20?25? someone halp) you will unlock the ability to craft weapons through him. They all cost a "Northlander *weapontype* Prototype" and 50 white iron chunks and 50 crystal chunks, Many of these weapons will be BiS for F2P players as you collect additional prototypes from weekly bosses (you also get a single prototype of each type from the gem shops in liyue and mondstat for 225 sigils each). Many of these weapons are BETTER than gacha weapons. PICK ONE OF EACH WEAPON TYPE and refine those as you collect additional prototypes to maximize damage efficiency on a single unit. You should not be gated by ores as they are farmable mats. These will be what you want to build up over time as F2P current endgame. 3 Star Weapons to Refine and Use Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers: This is easily BiS for support Barbara, a F2P staple Character and even a whale staple with 6 constellations, gives %HP for Barbara Heals and when you switch out gives an %atk bonus to the character you switch into. What's not to love about this perfect support catalyst? Slingshot: Wanna prove those tier lists wrong? Wanna use Amber in your main team because she's so useful in exploring AND she triggers double fire element party with Xiangling? But she's F TIERTRASH you say? TIERLIST BOOHOO just slap this bad boy on her and spam those left clicks! You make up for lack of %atk with the passive bonus AND crit rate as a secondary stat will still scale well later on! White Tassel: The previous King of F2P, %atk AND %normal atk, amazing for Xiangling to abuse as primary DPS, Still an amazing option but outshadowed by the 4star craftable spear which is BORKEN Debate Club: Me hit thing hard, baby version of prototype animus and still good because of it. %atk gud stat Skyrider Greatsword: %phys damage is good for base damage although not as versatile as %atk and the Passive gives the loved %atk and %def will also Synergizes with Noelle and her skills/talents Filet Blade: See Debate Club Cool Steel: give %atk and passive synergizes with Kaeya excellently 4 Star CraftablesIron Sting: This is potentially a good weapon for Kaeya down the line, unfortunately elemental mastery is hard to utilize as a F2P player, remember %atk bonuses are what we really want. Try it out if you wanna try something crazy with Husbando Kaeya but probably not great. Prototype Rancour: Ah %physatk exactly what we like to see, and even a bit of %atk on the passive, will be great on MC and Kaeya Prototype Crescent: %atk and more %atk.... Uh sorry what more do you want? Open with Aim shot and fire away. probably the better choice for Amber Compound Bow: Playing on mobile? Can't hit the broad side of a barn? grab this instead. Big Boi version of the slingshot Prototype Animus: BigBoi Debate Club, ME HIT VERY HARD, give us what we want which is +atk% with a decent burst passive, good on Noelle for obvious reasons. Whiteblind: I think OVERALL this is better on Noelle than the Animus on paper due to bonuses you can get from her talents and with GEO MC. The passive does require stacking so its great if you are mainly using Noelle. However if you are only using Noelle to switch in occasionally(because Xiangling OP) animus will be better. BUT if you like Noelle>Xiangling OR plan on using her as your primary character in your second abyss party this is a good choice. Prototype Malice: Outshined by Thrilling Tales as a F2P support weapon and outshined by Mappa for Damage/Element Synergy. Good middle ground for Barbara but not recommended Mappa Mare: This is probably your best bet for catalysts, Slap this on Lisa to help with her overload synergy with XiangLing. Otherwise catalysts are probably the most underwhelming options unfortunately. Hope for a Favonius Codex/Sac Frag for supports or Eye of Perception for DPS in the Gacha. (Any Help on F2P mage DPS setups are appreciated) Prototype Grudge: This weapon does not exist in the face of the F2P God of Genshin, Good if you only want to use Xiangling as a support only. Crescent Pike: Kinda what made me want to make this guide. WHAT I CLAIM AS GOD WEAPON OF F2P**\* Thanks to u/Burblesz for posting about this at like 3am EST last night or sumthing. Read his thread and upvote it. TLDR: 99% uptime Double Dip on all your atk modifiers ive been telling you to get So for characters and weapons for our pure F2P example we can have : Noelle-prototype animus/Whiteblind, Barbara-Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers, Xiangling-Crescent Pike, MC - Prototype Rancour, Lisa - Mappa Mare, Amber-Prototype Crescent, Kaeya - Cool Steel. This team focuses on Xiangling + Amber (to give +atk fireparty bonus) as your primary DPS with other characters to support her. In higher tier abyss with 2 teams your secondary DPS can change as you SHOULD be using mostly interchangeable artifacts at this stage in the game for secondary DPS carries. The variation in rooms that abyss offers means you can run different setups for optimization(but at this point do you need my help?). That being said I am partial to Noelle with GEO MC as a good choice We will refine the craftable weapons as we collect more prototypes overtime thru weekly boss drops. FEEL FREE TO USE GACHA 5STAR WEAPONS IF YOU PULL THEM! REMEMBER THOUGH 4 STAR CRAFTED CAN BE SUPERIOR OR KEEP UP EXPECIALLY WITH REFINEMENT! %atk attack modifiers in general are the most important stats in the game for progression and this will not change until you start farming for specific artifacts and stat combos. (and once you're doing that, again do you really need MY help?)................... As far as farming the weekly bosses for prototype loot, always, always, try to hit your next AR benchmark (25/30/35)before doing your weeklies to maximize potential rewards. For reference if you are AR 29 do not do your wolf and dvalin weekly before hitting 30. RESIN REWARDS: Lets start off what we can spend resin on daily: Elemental Bosses: character ascension gems/cores, artifacts ARXP Domains (talents): Talent ascension cores ARXP Domains(weapon): Weapon ascension cores ARXP Domains(artifacts): artifacts(endgame) ARXP Leyline(mora): Mora ARXP Leyline(exp): Character EXP. ARXP Next lets establish which of these we can get outside of resin usage which are: Mora, Character EXP, standard Artifacts. Given we can theoretically farm these infinitely we should theoretically never spend resin on these, So therefore as tryhard F2P genshin players we ignore all leylines. the only times we do these leylines are when we are desperate and lazy. which can happen very often so dont beat yourself over if you do need extra mora and xp. ITS JUST GAME. Edit: Post AR35 Mora is a HUGE problem AND becomes harder to farm so if you wanna invest resin so you don't have that problem, well there you go, just remember how valuable your resin is! from AR1-30 is actually super simple! Spend as LITTLE RESIN AS POSSIBLE WHILE NOT WASTING RESIN BY CAPPING, only doing ascensions as little as possible AS NEEDED TO CLEAR CONTENT. SPEND AMAP ASCENDING CHARACTERS AND TALENTS AS THEY WILL HOLD MORE CUMMULATIVE VALUE. The more resin you spend at lower AR the less value you get per resin spent as rewards increase with AR. Pre AR30 you have enough quests and oculus to collect such that ARxp is easier to get thru those methods than resin. AFTER AR30, with the lack of quests, dailies commissions and resin will actually become part of what you need to actually gain ARxp and ARlvls! Im sure a speedrunner somewhere can map out an optimal F2P resin optimal run to 30AR but Im not going to do it. just keep in mind, least amount of resin used possible before AR30 to increase the value per resin spent. What about post 30? this is supposed to be a late game guide??? depends on how much you play and how you enjoy the game~! Generally you will cap out at around AR30-32 when you run out of oculus/quests. If you have the time and will to farm chests past that point (I dont think I do) then farm up as quickly as possible to AR35. Meanwhile you should be farming your lvl70ascension resin only mats for 2-3 characters and weapons at AR30+ so you can uncap immediately after AR35+. However what if you've farmed mats for 2-3 characters and your still stuck at say AR33?(cuz chest grinding is cancer) Well here is where I think it gets complicated and up to personal preference. You could farm endgame artifacts at this point or continue to farm ascension mats for additional characters past your main DPS characters. If you want my advice (and thats why youre here right?) I would farm and ascend other characters to 60, as this will most likely hold value over time (i think) compared to artifacts which could rapidly lose value at higher ARs (you replace artifacts but xp is cumulative) The problem with this is farming characterXP and mora for the upgrades. and if you need mora and characterXp... you farm chests.... which if your farming chests you might as well farm AR....but you don't wanna do that so maybe farm endgame artifacts....but you dont wanna farm artifacts cuz your AR isnt at its next breakpoint..... As you see this can get pretty cyclical without planning. But as a general guideline for this issue: Farm artifacts domains only when you are mora/ARxp gated to a point where you do not want to grind for chests for mora or ARxp.note this is for when you have farmed ascension mats for your next AR breakpoint on your main carries and this WILL take a while and should be reevaluated on a weekly/biweekly basis(boss/spiral abyss reset). Last thing to keep in mind is that Weapon and Talent Domains change daily, rotating between 3 options with a mishmash on sundays. so keep those dates in mind when you plan on managing your AR thresholds for farming mats much like you would keep track of weekly resets for Dvalin and Wolfie in relation to AR. MONSTERS AND CHESTS: [Farmable Ascension Materials, Mora] Google "Interactive Map Genshin" This probably should be earlier but use this to collect oculus and unlock things as necessary. Use the Chinese one if possible, it will generally have more stuff. There are a few "unlimited resources" in genshin you can farm which I will list out and will cover some ways to farm them. ultimately to be "efficient" incorporate the interactive map to route out monster, chest, ore and plants into a single route that works for your material needs for your team. Make sure you are collecting multiple things on your routes to maintain maximum efficiency and shorten running between resources. Keep in mind these materials can be "stolen/borrowed" from co-op worlds so steal others and protects yours kekw (or let friends take the ones you don't need and vice versa) BUT breaking ores in coop worlds will net ore for BOTH players. Farm as much as possible/as necessary as this is what you do post AR30 when you've spent your resin and have done your dailies. Monster Mats (track boss monster mats in your journal but you should farm these along the way of farming other mats like flowers to stay efficient)** Mora (The big late game gate, Sigils are your best bet for "farming" mora, chests will have sigils and they are also scattered across the map, trade them in at the Gem icon in Liyue or Mondstat 1 or 2 for 1600)** Character XP(Chests are your best bet here to drop charXP scrolls unfortunately, killing mobs is low return BUT DOES ADD UP, [level your characters to 49/59/69 to maximize mob XP.....or not....)| Artifacts(base artifacts will drop from bosses and have spawn points in the map (check the interactive map!) Flowers/Ores (USE INTERACTIVE MAP) ARxp(CHEST FARMING REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE other users have posted tips regarding. Farm based on ) ONE MORE THING: ARTIFACTS: Only farm in artifact domains after fulfilling conditions laid out in part 2!!!!!This section is honestly more of a what stats are good, rather than what artifacts are good. Much like weapons what is important is not the star value but the STATS THEMSELVES. So not instead of mindlessly saying: %atk attack modifiers in general are the most important stats in the game for progression We will add a TINY bit of nuance. So for XiangLing you want to stack as much +atk% as possible, HOWEVER other stats can be acceptable if they help you say get a super cool set bonus like martial artist or gladiator. over say adventurers. If you get a 2 martial artist pieces a feather with base atk (as always) and sayyyyy a goblet with +physicalatk%. Using this set is better than using an adventurers set of the same rarity but with Atk% instead of physatk% as the +15%normal attack bonus is stronger than +1000HP from adventurers. This example is a very obvious judgement call but sometimes you will have to choose between martial artist and berserker or gladiators with various substats and mainstats or choose %atk vs %pyrodamage or whatever else in the late game as we will not have perfect artifact choices as a F2P player. These are the minmax calls you will have to test for yourself. but worry not. as long as you remember and apply: %atk attack modifiers in general are the most important stats in the game for progression This is because %atk will affect the damage from all of your sources, elemental, physical, normal, charged, whatever you want! because of this the minmax differences will be largely nominal this early into the game.
Check out Enviosity's stream and youtube for F2P proof of concept.
Check out me at SleightofHam for completely unrelated cooking content TLDR: Log on and do your dailies. Spend Resin when you can. Hoard mats for future AR thresholds. 4star crafted weapons are good. Crescent Pike OP AF. TLDR:DR: ITS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER GACHAGAME EVER Well thats it for now let me know if I missed anything yall think are important and ask questions in the comments.
First thing first, first post here, I'm on mobile and English is not my first language so be sure to correct me in the comments. With this out of the way lets go. This story took place a month ago. I play Fortnite (I know you can roast me in the comments) and I'm not the best that ever was but still a decent player. I was playing some creative fill after being advised to by my brother. It all started well with fun, nice chat and some zone wars. After an hour I was left with one other guy and was preparing to leave when he spoke: The participants: Me: guess who Ek: little goblin Em: entitled mother Ek: Do you want to 1v1 me. First time he spoke, sounded like a 8-10 year old. Me:Sure We set one so basic rules and started. Some time later the score was 12 at 1 for me. I was not a good player but this kid was just bad. As an idea he was wearing the tier one skin from the battelpass (important later) while being level one, I was over 150 at that time. Ek: Your cheating! Me: No, I'm not. Ek: Yes you are, I am the best. I defeated Ninja and Tfue. Me: You suuuure did. Ek: Yes I did, let's go one more round. We went one more and in the middle of everything I observed that he broke the rules by taking better weapons. Still, I won. Ek: Your hacking, I'm gonna tel you to my mum. As I was preparing to leave again I heard a voice. Em: You definitely cheated, my angel is the best at every game he plays. As compensation buy him that battelpass that this games has. I kidd you not that wat she said. And by the sound of "that battelpass" I'm pretty sure she doesn't know what she is talking about. Me: Mam first thing first i didn't cheated, second thing second i will not buy your son the battelpass, and third thing third even if i wanted to buy him the battelpass, which I'm not buying, he already has it by looking at the skin he has equipped. Ek: Then give me your account. Em: Good idea sweetie, give him your account, I'm sure you have many skins. Me: I'm not giving him you my account, I put enough money in it and it has value to me. Ek: Then let's 1v1 for it. At first I was sceptical but even if I lost I would have given him another account with no skins seeing as he was not gonna bet his account too. Me: Ok but we play after my rules. No healing and only the weapons I chose. I want a fair fight if I'm betting my account. Ek: Ok Em (silently but still being able to hear her): That's my kid. Win by any means necessary. I understood that he was not going to play fair but I continued. 3 minutes later I was victorious even though he cheated. Em: You cheated, give my son your account you fuking idiot I will get you banned if you don't do it. Me: I'm not giving you shit (I really lost my marbles by now) if one I should be the one getting something. You are the ones that cheated. I accepted this deal even though your little goblin would not give me anything in return if I won. So now I'm going out and hope to not see you ever again. Em: DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE, YOUR NOT LEAVING UNTIL I SAY SO, SO STOP BEING A BITCH AND GIVE ME....... Me: Ok Karen. I just closed the game entirely. I'm not even sure why I said that in the end. The kid didn't try to friend me so I think that as a win in my book and happily I didn't got banned. So in the end I was left with a good story to tell and some angry entitled people with their hands empty after not being able to scam a 17 year old.
While this season has been massively impacted by COVID. I am probably the most hyped for the QB's than I have been in a while. Easily my favorite class since 2018 and easily the best since 2012 which is 1983 of all QB classes. 1983 featured six quarterbacks were taken in the first round—John Elway, Todd Blackledge, Jim Kelly, Tony Eason, Ken O'Brien, and Dan Marino. Three ended up as Hall of Famers. 2012 featured first-round draft picks Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, and Brandon Weeden, as well as third-rounder Russell Wilson. By season's end, three more rookie quarterbacks would start their first games – third-round draft pick Nick Foles, fourth-rounder Kirk Cousins, and sixth-rounder Ryan Lindley. While Luck retired early due to injuries ended what would be a hall of fame career, Russell Wilson looks like a lock for the hall and potentially the greatest QB in NFL history if he continues at this pace. Cousins and Tannehill have solidified themselves as legit starting QBs and Foles is a super bowl MVP. This class features 12 guys to really watch and to me, four really special QBs in Trevor Lawrence, Trey Lance, Justin Fields, and D'Eriq King. Brock Purdy, Iowa State, Jamie Newman, Georgia, Sam Ehlinger, Texas, Kyle Trask, Florida, Shane Buechele, SMU. Kellen Mond, TAMU, K.J. Costello, Mississippi State and Tanner Morgan, QB, Minnesota. Sunshine (Lawrence) is probably the most talented QB prospect to enter since Elway. Elite arm, arm talent, mobility, size, field vision, and has tremendous Football IQ. He has flaws, he has the Elway/Cutler syndrome where instead of anticipating where the WR is going to be, he sees them open which he can get away with but not always. He gets happy feet at times in a muddy pocket and wants to run. He needs playmakers more than he MAKES playmakers. Lance has the best tape of the four horsemen. Best deep ball. 2nd best anticipation (King), 2nd best athlete (King), best system flexibility, 2nd best decision-maker (King), the closest prospect to Andrew Luck they say and I agree. His tape is amazing but like Luck, has flaws. Lance barely had a muddy pocket, only 14 sacks in 16 games. He was a big part of it with his pocket mobility but it wasn't that damn good. He rarely had to go to 3rd and 4th options but he did so well. 0 INTs but without elements, it's kinda hard to really evaluate is it real or not. Fields has tremendous talent, size, the athletic ability for his size, arm strength, and is a solid decision-maker. What I like the most about Fields is his projectability and how well-coached he is as a prospect for a dual-threat guy. While I don't think he's superior QB wise to Haskins, he's a McNabb like athlete and I think he will translate as a solid starting QB in year 1. I do think translating to the NFL will be harder for him than people think but like Josh Allen, he has just enough athletic ability and size to really make things happen in the NFL and his arm is crazy strong as well. Just pure God-given talent and really well-coached. King is the best QB in this class to ME overall. He reminds me the most of Burrow who was the best QB in the draft to me last year. A system QB who's best in a spread like Kyler Murray. He was PFF's best QB in 2018 in college football and he's on his way to being the best QB in 2020 as well. Like Burrow, he's an older QB, in fact, he's the same age(23) as Burrow and I think that gives him a lot of advantage over TL, JF, and TL who are all 20-21 years old. While he is similar to Burrow, he has elite elusiveness and break tackle ability like a running back. His flaws to me is his size, system flexibility, unlike Burrow, I would like him to have more pocket mobility like Wilson to counteract the lack of size, and he could still work to improve his arm talent like we have seen Wilson do when he joined the Seahawks. When I like a guy, I like him and I gave him a 1st round grade last year if he entered so why not again. Others: Brock Purdy, Iowa State, Jamie Newman, Georgia, Sam Ehlinger, Texas, Kyle Trask, Florida, Shane Buechele, SMU. Kellen Mond, TAMU, K.J. Costello, Mississippi State and Tanner Morgan, QB, Minnesota. Purdy has a lot of Baker Mayfield in him including being bad in a muddy pocket. I just don't like him as much as Baker because well, Baker's production was insane. I think Purdy realistically is a 2nd round grade. Newman has shades of Daunte Culpepper with his deep ball and his tremendous playmaking ability. He lacks the ability to just simply move the chains so personnel will be key with him. The talent and playmaking ability is exceptional but does he fit the modern NFL if he doesn't land on one of these big-play teams is the question. He has tremendous value in the 2nd or 3rd round. Trask never started a HS game but that's okay because D'eriq King was their QB. Still, Trask got major SEC D1 offers and King did not. Trask had a good first year with the Gators and showed that he's a NFL level QB. I really feel he's in the mold of Kirk Cousins but with more size to boot which will impress scouts. 2nd or 3rd round grade. Sam Ehlinger, Texas, Shane Buechele, SMU, Kellen Mond, TAMU, K.J. Costello, Mississippi State, and Tanner Morgan are all 4th to 5th rounders to me. Ehlinger's best shades are a better throwing Tebow which I disagree with because Tebow was a much better football player than Sam is and Taysom Hill which I think actually makes some sense. As a backup, I like him overall. Buechele is a tremendous system QB in the mold of Case Keenum. Keenum has had a tremendous career as a 2012 undrafted QB. In today's NFL where they are looking for QB's like Buechele as backups over the game managers. I expect Buechele to be taken in the 5th round as the game is changing for backup QBs. Mond has raw but impactful arm strength, productive, and is an athletic QB who some teams love to bet on as a 1st rounder type. Some will say he's as talented as Jordan Love but I will argue that Love is a far better NFL prospect as he can throw into tight windows and while his decision making needs to improve as well as his mechanics, his arm talent is not off the charts as well. Now, he's a better prospect than someone like Kizer because he is productive, I have a tough time with inconsistent Black QB's almost all either have to produce or they are career backups. They don't get the time that white QB's get. I do think he's a 2nd round talent but I gave him a 5th round grade. Morgan is a damn relic to me. The Matt Hasselbeck QB's are on the way out. Matt Ryan is the last of the Mohicans. My big issue with him for his style of QB, I would prefer he would be 6'4-6-6. Being that he's 6'2, he needs to be a lot more mobile than he is and I do think he has a strong NFL future but he's a backup at best to me. 4th to 5th round grade. Overall, I love this QB class. It's deep, has tremendous top-heavy talent, and is worth talking about. I wasn't hyped at all about last year's class and Kyler Murray is a system QB and thankfully went to the right system. This is a class, you have a chance to hit big with a QB. I think teams should consider a QB this year even if you have one already entrenched.
/CFB Ball We would like to welcome you to the internet's tailgate, /CFB! We are a community of over 900,000 college football fans from all over the globe. There is just something about college football that grabs you and makes you want to scream at a TV, a ref, or - let's be real here - COVID-19 or 2020 in general. Dumpster Fire But even with all the bad in the world, there are countless CFB teams for you to root for - in the US and around the world. We guarantee you've got a college football team nearby. We do our best to cover them all. MontmorencyIPNMonashUFPRKITUppsalaUmojaESME-ESGLagos MarinesCanterbury (NZ)NidarosZlín富山大学 (Toyama)天津大学 (Tianjin)동의대학교 (Eui)Sakarya Once you have found a team to support you should consider picking up a flair to show your fandom and pride. /CFB has over 2,300 unique flairs to choose from. Make sure you choose a flair on a browser and not any reddit apps. /CFB currently has the ability for dual flairs. This allows you to show your fandom for two teams or your team and its conference, or even show your support for the Duke's Mayonnaise Bowl and wear a flair for your favorite bowl game! So, yeah, things are weird this year. We're working with this as best we can. Game Threads Because things are so up in the air, for the moment we're going to have CFB_Referee post all of the game threads and post game threads. If things stabilize, we may revisit that later in the season, but for the moment that will help us ensure that everything stays accurate. Useful Information Here are some links you should visit...
We recommend you take a moment to read the rules and the post rules before posting so you don't violate one by accident. Look for threads already happening on a topic to add your take. Look for weekly threads (see below) to ask questions or share specific ideas. If you're not sure? Send us a modmail to ask! How to View /CFB There are many ways to view Reddit, and the one that we recommend and maintain the most is Old Reddit. If you're viewing from mobile web, Reddit Apps, or New Reddit, you'll still get all of the comments and posts, but it may not be as visually up to date.
Rule Refresher
Here at /CFB we have some pretty simple rules - you can read all of them here. We know we're seeing a lot of new faces around here, so this is especially important right now. For a refresher, here is a TL;DR of some of the important ones to keep in mind. No racism, homophobia, sexism, rape jokes, victim blaming, or other bigotry. Just no. Seriously. Discussing college football should never lead to this. Remember, this is a place to talk about football, that's it. One of the great things about /CFB is that it isn't the ESPN or AL.com comment sections. This also means no jokes about rape AND it means no using rape or rape scandals as flamebait. No unrelated politics and keep related politics civil. Yes, we know this is hard with everything going on right now and how politics are intersecting with college football more and more openly. Still, keep it on topic, related to college football, and keep it civil. No content that seeks to deceive, misinform, or otherwise harm others, or to entertain the notion of such. Please also avoid giving medical advice, even if you're a medical professional in real life. No flair based downvoting. The downvote button does not exist to put down teams you don't like, people you don't like, or opinions you don't like. Instead, use it to get rid of trolls or bad content. Downvoting just because of flair makes Coach Snyder sad. Don't make Coach Snyder sad. No flamebait, personal attacks or harassment. Have a good time on /CFB and be nice. No argument is worth getting into on the internet. We encourage strong debates and good discussion but if it ultimately comes down to "You are wrong, I am right" and name calling you will be banned. Examples, while not comprehensive, include instances like you calling someone an idiot, telling them you hope they die, claim all fans of X team are Y horrible thing... these are just a few examples of Rule 2 violations. Tweets must be made as self-posts. To cut down on Tweet-spam, all direct Twitter links will be removed. No word-for-word pasting of paywall content. We can't allow users to repost content from paid sites. There is a reason the paywall exists and writers deserve the money. Feel free to quickly summarize an article, though, or include a very brief quote. This also includes things like posting screenshots of the content or linking to sites that deliberately redirect around paywalls. No stream links. Reddit as a whole is cracking down on this. Do not link to illegal stream sites or to subreddits aggregating those links. Discussion about options like Hulu Live, You Tube TV, etc. are allowed, but keep in mind that generic requests for cord cutter options may be removed. No which team/fanbase is X threads. Threads designed to put down other teams or fanbases will be removed. We want posts that encourage positive discussion and debate, not collective hate. Example thread titles include "Which fanbase is most delusional?" and "Which team do you irrationally hate?" No Buy, Sell, or Trade Posts/Comments We just have no way to verify that people posting these classifieds aredoing or will do what they claim, so we're going to be removing any such threads. Reporting While this isn't a rule, it does help us make sure the rules get applied consistently. We can't be everywhere, so that means we need you to help out by reporting posts or comments that break the rules. You may have noticed the new options for reporting comments and submissions - hopefully this will make things easier! PLUS if you respond and break the rules yourself, you risk a ban. Just hit report and let us handle it. Tweets DON'T TWEET AT CROOTS.

This list is completely based on my personal experience and at times I played average games in a good mood that made them better or great games in a poor mood that made them worse. Also, a lot of these games are 9's or more - games that were below 7's for me I didn't bother to write about and a lot of other ones that would have been bad I just never downloaded to play. I hope this list gives you some inspiration for the next game that might hook you. Chaos Rings III: This is a massive game with a long story and plenty of new powers to unlock. The game is pretty damn expensive $40!!!. It has no in game purchases but the way it is designed would make you think that they were originally intending to have them because there are booster back that can be unlocked. For this reason I actually rooted my phone and installed Game Genie so that I could cheat about 100 of the packs into my save and this was a really fun boost to skip a good chunk of the game's grind. (8.2/10 - fun characters and story, gameplay mechanics could have been deeper) Clash Of Clans: Great OG game, I spent about $20 on getting some unlocks/boosts. Unfortunately that money felt wasted. Games like these where timers (and purchasing time-skips) are part of the gameplay, literally require you to pay to play. Great quality game but this type of revenue model in games is just a pain (would pay $30 outright to skip all timers for 6 months, etc.) I actually don't recommend this game even though it is on the list - this is more of a recommendation not to play. (6.4/10 - waiting to play is horrible). Walking Dead: Road to Survival: Just like Clash Of Clans - I was really into this because of like the Walking Dead series. Unfortunately the timewalls are just horrible. I spent $40 to get booster packs for new characters and didn't get anything worthwhile. Emailed support to ask for a free boost to compensate and they declined. I actually don't recommend this game even though it is on the list - this is more of a recommendation not to play. (6.4/10 - timewall is annoying). The Walking Dead: Season One: Worth $80 if it cost that much. Fantastic story and I still remember it to this day. (9.6/10 - very limited interactivity, but this is a game for its story). The Room: Other peeople will really enjoy this. I didn't like the puzzle game design - I don't generally like these style of games. I get stuck and have to look up the answer on Youtube or just become bored. (8/10 - Other people will like this game but I never spent more than two hours on this). Fallout Shelter: Probably the best free game around. Really fun building and questing mechanic. The pay element is mostly non intrusive. After about 12 hours of playing the game falls off because the timewall starts to come into effect but until then the game is terrific. (8.4/10 - too bad I can't buy the game for $25 to destroy timewalls and play freely). Vainglory: I had a lot of fun with this game. It will be deleted from my phone once Wildrift comes out, but for a MOBA experience on mobile, this is great. (8.5/10 - I did have ping fluctuations from time to time). PPSSPP: This is a PSP emulator that I used to play Persona 3. Worked amazingly on the phone and what a great game. Buy a copy of Persona 3, throw it down the drain and then load the rom onto your phone to stay legal. (10/10 - terrific game and runs like it is native). Pirates Outlaws: I had a lot of fun with this game. It has a really cheap price tag of only $5. I probably put about 15 hours into this game and had a great time. Unfortunately you have to buy the other characters to unlock their mechanics if you want to skip a horendous grind. They were just too expensive so I didn't bother. (8.1/10 - should have bumped the price $10 and unlocked all characters). The Bonfire: Forsaken Land: I played the demo and enjoyed it a lot so paid for the full unlock. The game itself is challenging but very fun. I probably put 10 hours into this game, unfortunately it ends very quickly. I have heard there is a sequel on the way and I would happily buy it to play when it comes out. (8.9/10 unfortunately just a bit too short). Kingdom: New Lands: What Bonfire was based on, Kingdom is a really smart and simple game that has a lot of depth. I put a good 10 - 15 hours into the game, however I never got past the 2nd island. For me it is just too difficult and there should have been option to make aspects easiemore relaxed. (8.2/10 - never finished it because it was too hard). Rebuild 3: Gangs of Deadsville: I had a lot of fun with the story and played it for a good 10 hours. Unfortunately I forgot about it halfway through the campaign and never picked it up again. It lacked some magic to really make it an impossible to put down experience. Combining all the maps into one large map would have rewarded the aspect of building up a town. (7.8/10 - graphics are a little bit average and it missed something to hook me for 30+ hours). Teamfight Tactics: I got to gold rank and played a good 20-30 hours. I am also a big fan of League but unfortunately I just don't enjoy autochess games. Quality is top shelf however and the price model is extremely non-aggressive. (9.3/10). Stardew Valley: Great game. Put 30+ hours into this. Costs $14 on the appstore but probably worth $35. (9.5/10 - unfortunately the pixel graphics are just a bit ugly in my opinion). Meteorfall: Journeys: Really enjoyable game with no invasive transactions. Not expensive at all and a great game to play travelling. (9/10). Legends of Runeterra: Again, I am a big league fan so got this to play straight away. Spent a lot of time on this. Really well polished if you want to play a card game or like League lore. (9.7/10). Don't Starve: Pocket Edition: This and Crashlands (which isn't on this list but I have briefly played) are both great fun and at a $7 price tag a no-brainer for a good game at a cheap price. Pick up and play if you haven't before. (9.5/10). Battle Chasers: Nightwar: This is what android gaming should be. A full game available for a fair price that you can sink into for 20-30 hours. Great graphics and gameplay. Very polished overall. If you like turn-based combat then give it a try. (8.7/10) Among Us: Literally only took two games to have me laughing in tears. Very fun multiplayer game and I bet it would be a great game with friends. Literally free to download so why wouldn't you? (8.9/10 - lacks a bit of polish). Redcon: I had fun for awhile until I read that you can't replay old missions to get more money/bases for the next chapter level you are at. I understand if you make wrong purchase decisions you can become hardstuck at certain levels because you can't upgrade any more without beating the level but can't beat the level because you can't upgrade any more. (7.7/10 - the game is a fun FTL style game but unfortunately I lost interest once I realised you couldn't go back and replay previous levels). Ticket To Earth: I was initially put off by the screenshots but playing the game I quickly got hooked. The tile mechanic is very intelligent and fun. On top of this is a great RPG system and a good story. Definitely worth the $7.50 pricetag. (9/10) Crying Suns: I Loooved this game and put 30+ hours into it. I would give it a 10 except that I am not a big fan of pixel graphics style and each chapter you lose all progress on your ship which is a bit annoying. (9.2/10). Portal Knights: I really recommend this if you like Minecraft style games at all. Fun building, a good story driven RPG and very polished/looks great. (9.4/10). Grimvalor: A fun, heavy style side scroller game. Very polished and easy to get into. I haven't finished this but will definitely come back to it from time to time. (7.8/10 - more depth to the RPG would have been appreciated). Deadcells: Probably the best Android game you can buy. Ported extremely well and the game itself is all about learning and getting better with each attempt. (9.8/10 - unfortunately I am not a big fan of pixel art so that throws me slightly). Limbo: Probably the second best Android game you can buy. Easy to learn controls keeps you going through a game that is all about the immersing world. After I finished this I went away and read all about the story and what it meant. (9.5/10 - a bit short to be perfect). Sheltered: This game is everything I want: a Fallout Shelter style game with no timers, just buy in full and get the game. Unfortunately it only takes 20 hours to become safe to a point that the challenge is gone. Also the graphics are not my preferred style. (8.7/10 - a paintjob and more challenge in the endgame would make this my number one game). Lara Croft GO: People sleep on this game but it is actually a really fun puzzle game that I fully completed and went back to again. Would definitely recommend anyone to give it a try (and also the Hitman GO game too). (9.2/10). Game Dev Tycoon: A game that I put a lot of hours into (40+). Really enjoyable progression game where you create your own stories. Unfortunately the game type combinations are a bit predictable, so that you only need to create a survival game with zombies or an adventure game with RPG to have a perfect game. However everything else about the game is great and I enjoyed the whole thing. (9.6/10). This War Of Mine: I loved everything about this game. I just wish it had an endless mode and that it had an option to make it a bit easier. (9.6/10). If I had to recommend three games to go download now and play, they would be Game Dev Tycoon, Crying Suns and Legends of Runterra.
[Bloomberg] Day Traders Will Have Fun Until They Get Wiped Out
https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-06-23/robinhood-traders-will-have-fun-until-they-get-wiped-out One time when I was sitting in my college dormitory, I heard a whoop of joy from down the hall. My dormmate announced that he had just made $500,000 trading in the stock market, after having invested only a few thousand dollars. When I asked him how he did it, he grinned and simply said: “Call options.” I spent the rest of the day reading about how this marvelous financial instrument could be used to make a fortune in a day with just a small initial stake. Of course, my lucky dormmate doubled down on his investment and ended up losing most of his money when the dot-com bubble burst a couple of months later. This saga illustrates the danger of day trading, especially with leveraged instruments such as options. After the 2000 tech bust, day trading declined, but the coronavirus pandemic seems to be driving something of a renaissance. Goldman Sachs Investment Research reports that the percent of trading volume in the stock and option markets from small trades has increased a lot since January, while discount brokerage TD Ameritrade reports that visits to its website teaching people how to trade stocks have nearly quadrupled. Robinhood, a trading app that offers zero-commission trades and a simple, video-game-style interface, had 3 million new accounts opened in the first quarter. Half of its new customers are first-time investors. Many online communities are filled with the standard elements of day-trader culture -- stories of fabulous fortunes gained, hot tips, trading systems and theories and so on. Coronavirus probably isn’t the only reason for the boom in day trading. Brokers realized that they could offer zero-commission trades and make up for it with interest earned by lending out their cash balances. Mobile apps made trading easier and more fun than ever, and allowed new traders to start off with small amounts of cash. A new generation of speculators has no painful memory of the dot-com bust. But whatever the reasons, the new day trading mania is not likely to result in a happier outcome than the last one. There are many theoretical reasons and a wealth of empirical evidence to suggest that most day traders are wasting their money. One of the most important concepts in finance -- and yet seemingly one of the hardest to understand -- is that there are two sides to every trade. For a day trader to make money, someone else has to lose money. In the most optimistic case, the loser could be a normal person who needs to put money in or take money out of their retirement account, and who therefore doesn’t worry much about the price at which they buy or sell. But most trades are not this. Instead, day traders are usually buying and selling either from each other, or from algorithms programmed by skilled, experienced financial professionals. If it’s the former, their trading is a zero-sum game. If it’s the latter, human day traders are very likely to lose because the people who program trading algorithms are typically very smart, and their computers can spot market-moving developments faster than people can. This is why professional human traders have been increasingly driven out of the market. A related problem is the idea of slippage. Day traders might think that because they’re paying zero commission, their trades are free. But when a day trader places an order, a trading algorithm somewhere quickly figures out that they want to buy or sell, and raises or lowers the price accordingly, so that the day trader gets a less favorable price. Another reason day trading is a bad idea is that people often fail to understand when they’re winning and losing. If the market as a whole goes up (as it has recently), many stocks will be winners. That can make a day trader feel like they won, even if they would have made as much or more money if they had simply bought an index fund and held onto it. This is especially true right now, when correlations between stocks are very high -- in this case, meaning many stocks are rising or falling together. Finally, day traders often don’t understand the amount of risk they’re taking. Call options of the type my college dormmate bought, for example, are a form of leverage -- you might make fabulous riches, but you’re very likely to lose your money. One young novice investor tragically committed suicide after seeing his account generate large losses; though he probably misread the account statement, this incident drives home the point that investors may not be prepared for how much money they can lose with the trades they’re making. A large amount of empirical evidence confirms that most day traders lose money. A very large 2004 study of Taiwanese day traders, for example, found that more than 80% lost money. A tiny number -- about 0.03% -- earned consistently large profits, but the odds of possessing this kind of skill are slim. Most studies of day traders in the U.S. and Finland yield similar results -- a few traders are consistently good, but most lose out. Day trading might therefore be a fun way of gambling for those who are locked inside waiting out the pandemic. But if regular Americans start betting large amounts of their money on individual stocks and options, they’re courting financial ruin. If you want to day trade, the best thing to do is to bet only a small percent of your money to learn whether you’re one of the few who has the skill to beat the market. Day trading should be treated like an expensive video game, not like a way of getting rich quick.
27th September – Lady Vago’s Malediction by A.K.M. Beach
In the blackened heart of a cursed forest, a banshee haunts her crumbling castle with lethal screams. Lady Vago is trapped in this place. She cannot fulfill her purpose as a banshee: to warn her loved ones of their deaths and watch over them while they pass. To solve the mystery of her imprisonment, she must sift through the rubble and ruin that surrounds her. By communing with old paintings, broken furniture, and even the stones themselves, she rediscovers who she was in life. Before she was Lady Vago, she was Rovena Stoddard, a sharp-witted horse merchant’s daughter that caught the eye of a charming baron. Lord Kalsten Vago’s life as a wandering knight was over, but it inspired visions of a better life for his most vulnerable subjects. Rovena was far less afraid of bold change than his staunch and loyal steward, who saw her presence as a threat to Lord Kalsten’s success. Love and shared dreams alone wouldn’t overcome the controversy of the couple’s hasty and unequal union, as well as the trials of governing a fledgling barony—Rovena knew that. What she failed to recognize was the deeper darkness taking root in Vago lands and hearts… Every memory of what Rovena loved is a reminder of what she lost, but she cannot let grief halt her search. Devoted spectres of ash are begging their lady for an end to their torment, and she will not let their agony–or her own–go unanswered anymore. Check it out on Goodreads. --

1st October - Arcanist (Spellmonger #12) by Terry Mancour
A Belligerent Spring Being the most powerful wizard in the world can be a challenge. After defending his fledgling realm against the undead lord Gaja Katar all winter long, Count Minalan of the Magelaw faces a new threat in the spring: the Nemovort Shakathet, favored of Korbal, leading the mighty hordes out of the Penumbra. This time Minalan faces a real strategist, who drives his armies with purpose and efficiency. This time, the road to war leads through Megelin Castle and the vulnerable lands to the south of Vanador. This time, old enemies become allies, and old friends become valuable assets. Just another month in the life of the Spellmonger. War, however, is not what is preoccupying Minalan; the knowledge of the end of the world is. As he broods on existential issues and debates with various goddesses and Alka Alon about Calidore’s fate, he must overcome his own fears and anxieties and impose order on the situation before everything goes into the chamberpot. The solution? Hire an Arcanist, a specialist in the obscure and trivial, to organize and investigate the many matters Minalan has to manage and bring them to order. A busy wizard needs good organization to get it all done, after all, so Minalan hires Heeth the Butler to dive into the details while he prepares to fight the darkness. That buys the Spellmonger time to hunt down spies, taunt the Count of Nion into invading the Magelaw, lend aid to the sister realm of the Wilderlaw, who face their own war against the darkness, indulge his wife’s desire for cheesemaking, make staffing decisions, ferret out a plot to betray him by one of his vassals, and occasionally lead a special forces squadron of high-powered warmagi into battle, which is convenient. He also gets help from a wisecracking bard with a talent for espionage, an ancient intelligence who is suddenly mobile, and an insistent cow goddess, but each new ally is fraught with problems of their own. An obsessive know-it-all with a rare talent for obscure trivia is the right man in the right job. Who knew that the Spellmonger just needed an . . . ARCANIST! Check it out on Goodreads. --

The mission turns out to be as bizarre as it is lucrative: Jaaros Oonai, the country’s merchant king, knows a secret that could stop a catastrophe, but he has fallen into an inexplicable coma. Together with an ex-priestess and a psychic, Jespar must enter Oonai’s dreams and find this secret. What should have been a fresh start quickly turns into a nightmare, as Jespar slides into a spiral of disturbing dreams, political intrigue, and clashing ideals, where not only the fate of Kilay but his own sanity are at stake. It’s not long before he learns that sometimes only a spider’s thread divides the sleeping and the awoken. And that there’s no greater enemy than one’s own mind. Check it out on Goodreads. --
