Questions Answers
Have you ever thought about doing it professionally as a tipster? I think that business is a fraud. People lose off of those picks because no real person hits over 60%. At that point, what are your buyers supposed to do?? You continue to sell your picks and they're running out of money.
I don't like the thought of people profiting or losing off of my picks. It adds more pressure on me to make the right picks and I lose my focus. If they tail my plays and I never know, that's ok I guess.
More importantly, I live bet a lot. So it's hard for me to stop what I'm doing just to tell people what all of my plays are. Chances are after I'm done betting live, the line has significantly changed.
A good example of that is when the Cavs were playing the Knicks last week. At some point in the game, the Knicks were up 11 I believe and the ML was Cavs -140. I bet that line so hard it moved to -290.
Is it a betting system per say or a new way of isolating picks? Would you provide some intel on your strategy? I call it a system, but I think you're way of describing it is better. I pretty much look for games where I have no doubt the favorite will win and play a lot of money on it. For example, I played nearly $38,000+ to win like 3 grand on the Patriots beating the Redskins yesterday. Sure, that's a lot to win a little, but I'm winning and that little amount adds up over time. I think that should give you an idea as to how I play.
How old are you? I'm 24, my birthday is on November 21st!
I'm sure this isn't with a local bookie, so Vegas or Online Sportsbook? And if online, any problems cashing out or getting paid or having a huge check cashed at a bank? Online sports book. And I was very skeptical at first, but I haven't had any problems yet. I get paid out every Wednesday and the FedEx package usually comes very quickly. I get like 10-11 money orders and I take them to my bank. After my first deposit, I learned not to deposit more than $5000 into your account at once because it'll be on hold. Whereas if you do $5000 one day and $5000 the next, you can just get them each fully in your account the next day.
Congrats on the run. I am in America. Winnings are taxed, and I'm still having to figure out how much I'll have to pay once I declare my winnings on the year.
I'm guessing you're not in America since you referenced paying taxes in another question, I made a run once doing that with NBA games but not like this and then lost two big ones that wiped out the 2k I had at the time. I still can't believe the Kings lost that game.
Are a majority of your bets money line? Yes. I will occasionally play a spread if I see a good opportunity, but I end up getting screwed (Northwestern +8/+9.5 at Michigan being a good example). Yesterday was the first time I dabbled in it but I was mainly playing for arbitrage/middles. I hit one with Colts/Broncos but lost the other with Cowboys/Eagles. In the latter, I played Cowboys +3 and +6.5 thinking they'd take a lead and the Eagles would be underdogs. I would've played Eagles spread at that point, but the moment never came. I luckily only lost Cowboys +3 and won +6.5.
Word, I sort of did this years ago when the Nationals lost 101 games in a season. Took the money line every game against them and ended up winning like $600 for the season. Only small bets, much smaller than yours. I think I might look into this again. What sites do you use? Have you cashed out? I love that strategy. I look for hot trends and pounce. Like Packers, Patriots, Jake Arrieta, etc. It always helps when you know where to take advantage of plays. I explained this in a comment above. Response to u/jteta12.
I see that this is per team, and not per points...which site does that? cause i follow soccer but not so much nfl... You can get money line bets anywhere. I think in Vegas it is capped out at -1000 ($1000 to win $100). Soccer is a sport I try to stay away from because of the draw option. You'll see one of the first bets I lost heavily on was when Real Madrid played at home against Malaga and got a 0-0 draw (will never forget that game). But you can still pick a side to win in soccer and I know people who are very good at it. The site I use is sportsbetting.ag (under betonline.ag).
What's the worst bad beat you've experienced throughout this run? Michigan State losing to Nebraska was the worst beat by far. Not in terms of amount lost, but just by how badly the ref ruined the game on that last Nebraska touchdown call. The receiver was clearly out of bounds and came back in to catch it. Still don't know how they reviewed and said it was a touchdown.
Luckily I stayed away from that game. I suppose that loss kind of balances out that miraculous W in Ann Arbor three weeks ago though which is always something to keep an eye out for I almost bet Michigan that day. Now THAT was a bad beat.
What are you selling? The dream. for $14.99. and if you act now, i'll throw in the second dream at no extra cost. just pay shipping and handling.
In all honesty, I am finishing up an article about this run and wanted to get some traction for it first. I hope that's ok.
What NFL bet do you feel most confident about this weekend? Saints against the Redskins, Packers against the Lions, Panthers against the Titans, Denver against the Chiefs, Patriots against the Giants, Bengals against the Texans.
If this is real then its fuckin amazing... i lose my cool too often on betting, im -6000 this year :( The key is to be patient. It's really easy to get hasty and want to play all the time. Have to pick your spots. I don't think I learned that lesson until I was past $10k and I still struggle with it.
Could you keep me updated on what you bet on? I get a little lazy about updating my spreadsheet, but I almost always post all of my plays on the sports app Fancred or by texting my friends.
Sounds alright, also I've seen you do a lot of safe bets, do you think that is a viable way to make money even if you have very little to start with? I think it definitely works (as you can tell). I'd say like 8 out of 10 times it's a good strategy, and the other 2 are upsets that shouldn't happen but do because of a lackluster performance by the favorite. (Michigan State vs. Nebraska, LA Kings vs. Columbus Blue Jackets, Roger Federer vs. Albert Ramos-Vinolas, etc.). You cannot predict when those will happen, but you can manage your money so you don't lose as severely when they do.
How do I find you on fancred? Thanks. Search for Shafiq. I have a cred score of 57.
Makes sense, I will give it a try! Please let me know how it goes! i'd love to hear about it.
As a Cornhusker I am more than happy that was an upset! I wouldn't have cared if Nebraska scored a touchdown regularly, but that it happened on a mistake by the ref is what upset me a lot. I wish they could would have called it back. Nebraska could have easily scored the way MSU's defense was playing.
Will do, I will probably bet on football (soccer for you) matches though because that is what I have the most knowledge of. Do you mind sharing some of your knowledge? like what league do you watch the most of, what teams do you think are locks to win most of the time, and who do you think will come out on top?
The thing is that they can't recall a judgment call that should have gotten called on the field, there was another instance in Miami Duke But they could have reviewed whether he was out of bounds. And he definitely was.
So by this standard, If I give you $10,000 you'll make me a millionaire. Haha potentially! though i'm never comfortable dealing with anyone else's money. my friends would be really mad at me if i played $38k on the patriots and the redskins won.
I noticed its alot of money lines. Are you just betting your whole bankroll on the money line to these games? Each loss must be debilitating. I did up until the Real Madrid draw, but I still do it sometimes (see Patriots this weekend). Depends on how I feel. I call those "life savings bets."
Where's the almanac Biff? I was warned that if anyone asked me about it, I'd have to kill them.
How often do you cash out? Is this legal? Once a week. Yes it's legal (from my understanding).
Can I have some? Maybe. Depends on what your favorite song is on Pinkerton.
Falling for You, exclusively for that last guitar solo. Not El Scorcho. Not helping.
Great Scott! Biff is that you? Would you be my girlfriend even if I had a million dollars?
So basically get rich betting big on heavy favorites. cant knock the hustle We're taught not to do it because it doesn't make you money. I basically just proved all of that wrong.
Im on a terrible run. Help a fellow degenerate? Haha follow me on Fancred and you'll see my plays.
I don't believe you :D. Haha let me know what proof you need and I can provide it.
