An honest review of the state of Clash Royale: make Clash Royale great again [HELP NEEDED] [HIGH EFFORT]

An honest review of the state of Clash Royale ← click/tap

TL;DR

Clash Royale casual player base has been reduced over the last month due to the Clan Wars 2.0.
In this Google Document:
I know that I have written a lot of text (it is taking me +5 hours to write everything), but I beg you to read it, or at least take a look at it.
Also I would really appreciate that you add comments in the Google Document in order to add new ideas, you can also ask me for permissions to edit the Document if you're willing to collaborate.
It would be awesome if you mentioned Drew in the comments section in order to bring these ideas to the Clash Royale team.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH CLASH ROYALE (WHICH NOBODY CARES ABOUT)

(Feel free to skip this part)
I knew about this game because it had become popular among my colleagues at the university in early 2017.
I started playing it without much hope, because I was always a console player and popular mobile games, like Angry Birds or Geometry Dash, bored me after a few hours. But when I played it, I started to like it, and I spent a couple of hours every day on it. I joined my friends' clan, where I knew about 20 people in real life. I kept playing for about 1 hour a day almost every day, but my friends slowly got bored and left the clan and the game.
By 2018, the clan was in the doldrums, our leader had not played for weeks, and we had many inactive members. There were few donations and exchanges. Since I knew him, I talked to him and asked his permission to do a cleanup in the clan, that's when he put me as the leader of the clan and left the game.
After this change, I became motivated and started making changes in the clan. I wrote some rules in a Google Drive document (if you are interested, check it out at tiny.cc/bataclan), started doing cleanups every few weeks, and tried to keep the clan full and with players who contributed to the clan, even though it wasn't mandatory to play Clan Wars 1.0. We became in the Top 100 clans in my region, +14k war trophies, the clan always with 50/50 members, and with about 10-15 members we reached +6k trophies in ladder every season.
One month after the disastrous update of the Clan Wars 2.0, the clan I spent so many hours with is dying at a dizzying rate. Only 36/50 members (and we have a hard time filling it up without lowering the required conditionsjijiji a lot), 2980 war trophies, no player with more than 6k trophies in ladder, and very few members left with whom I started in the clan. I have also played much less this month, normally I finished the Pass Royale in 2 weeks, and this season I have only reached the tier 13.d
I am a casual player, I have played this game more than any other in my life, and I have spent around $200 on the game. I love to play many different archetypes and that's why I've never been bored...
But the Clan Wars 2.0 update has made me feel angry, then sad, frustrated, and right now, disappointed. A mistake can be made by anyone, what bothers me the most is that the designers and developers have decided to bet on this update with everything against it and wait to see if the problems are solved by themselves. And this is not going dto happen.

HOW DID WE GET HERE?

The broad answer is simple: designers and developers did not listen to the player community. They have to try to set aside the balance of costs and benefits, because if dthe player base drops to 0, so does the revenue. As a software developer I understand that it is important to have healthy financial accounts, but never at the cost of losing customers (players in this case).
Breaking down the answer, I want to list some notable problems:

Quality of Life updates:

There are not enough updates. I think it would be healthy for CR if bug fixes and small updates were introduced into the game every 1-2 weeks. The hardest part of accomplishing this would be having ideas on what changes to make, but Clash Royale is fortunate to have such a large community on Reddit. Developers should check the top-rated posts frequently and, instead of thinking, "CAN WE MAKE THESE CHANGES WITHOUT IMPACTING PROFITS?" ask themselves "HOW ARE WE GOING TO MAKE THESE CHANGES WITHOUT IMPACTING PROFITS?"

Benefits strongly linked to the progress of the players:

One of the main problems in Clash Royale is that a casual player like me, who has been playing non-stop for more than 3 years, and who has spent around $200 still cannot be maxed (only 26 cards maxed out of a total of 99+2). This should not be happening this way. Maxed players have a competitive advantage over other players, they can use any deck and take advantage of the strongest cards of the season.
An example of this was when the Clash Royale team decided that 2 tokens were necessary to carry out an exchange, because obviously players were being able to obtain the necessary cards to max out their favorite decks too quickly.
I suggest that the rewards increase so that a player around 6k trophies can max 32 cards a year, and a new player can max 8 cards in the first year. This would be playing all the challenges, participating in war every day, playing ladder trying to beat the maximum of trophies, etc. "Yeah sure, and how do you pay the salaries to the Clash Royale team?". I will answer you in the Solutions and ideas section (hint: Fortnite, Dota 2).

Major updates:

I understand that major updates require a lot of time and effort to execute, therefore I would be happy to receive them approximately every 6 months. The problem that I see with the current system is that the team cannot receive feedback from the players, and I understand that due to marketing issues they always try to keep it secret and create as much hype as possible; but doing so runs the risk of wasting a lot of time and effort on an update that players are going to hate (just like Clan Wars 2.0).

New cards and content:

I think that to spice up the game and make each season unique, it is important to release 1 new card each month. I think it's the best way to keep players active and without getting bored. I'll talk about the content in the Solutions and Ideas section.

Clan Wars 2.0

In this topic I am not going to extend much, since recently many users have analyzed in depth the problems that have arisen with this update, but I will focus on the main issues:

SOLUTIONS AND IDEAS:

If you have read all the way along I thank you for your patience!
I want to clarify that obviously I’m not God and I don’t have all the answers of how to make this game more attractive. I’m not a game designer either, but I think that as a player and software developer I can bring some ideas.

Quality of Life updates ideas

Just a few examples:
CLANS ENHANCEMENTS:
TRADE TOKEN ENHANCEMENTS
CHALLENGES ENHANCEMENTS:
If I’d spent more time thinking I could write down more and more ideas, but you wouldn’t read it, so better if I stop here.

Benefits strongly linked to the progress of the players

How would I solve this issue?

Major update

This could have a few solutions, but I think they aren’t compatible with the marketing of hype:

New cards and content

What do you want me to say? The solution is pretty obvious. Just add new cards, new cosmetics (at least 3-5 unique skins for each card, 3-5 emotes, etc), add new card challenges that can be unlocked when collecting the loyalty points, etc. Clash Royale team, just hire 20 more artists and flood the game with skins, emotes, and stuff.
Also it would be awesome if the shop was improved and all (but the exclusive ones) skins, emotes, tower skins… were always available for gems. Sometimes I feel the impulse of buying an emote (because some player BM me with it and it looked cool), but when I saw it on the shop a few weeks later this impulse was gone and I didn’t spend those 250 gems. This is bad for Clash Royale earnings, and for players (who are disappointed because they can’t fulfill their needs).

Clan Wars 2.0

Solutions for the previous issues:

Confessions of a cheater (Not a Q&A - AMA)

To follow the guidelines, I will not be responding to any queries. This is just simply an unorthodox feedback from my perspective. [EU]

Hi,
Call me a loser, piece of shit or anything you want, I don't care, I won't go into depth because why I do it, and I won't continue playing this game so don't worry, but it might not be for the reason you think.I have been actively using ESP/Third party for 3 years on an EOD account, and I have never been questioned, suspended or banned despite having a ludicrous KD/R or survival rate.
As of 02/07/2020 - I can with a hand on my heart say that there is a hacker in near -every- game you are playing right now, or atleast 8/10 of them. I have encountered all sorts, and they are only getting more aggressive. The current state of the hacks, from what I have seen, is that for the most part the public hacks only have functioning variations of ESP/Aimbot/Nobreath/Norecoil and Infinite Stamina. Teleporting loot is something i -rarely- encounter, even on labs, and I haven't seen a single flying person for a quite good few months.
Still, the game is just about worse than ever, and the huge player influx is partially to blame for that, naturally. I would like to state this again, as it should be broadcast as you enter the game, there is a cheater in near every single game you are playing. Even if you aren't killed. I often avoided players and allowed them to finish their raid, and only killed them if they were going for high-tier areas, were being nuisances (sniping, camping, e.g) or actively challenged me, as the obvious cheaters often do, even chasing after you across half the map only to farm your xp.
However, I myself find the game nearly unplayable now even with hacks, as silly as it sounds, due to aimbotters. The aimbot is usually unreliable if your target moves too quick, as it will often shoot slightly behind the thorax/head, especially on distances. The best bet is to fight a hacker is with flashbangs, grenades or to wallbanging them. Doing quick peeks will only get you killed most the time, but if you are compelled, use small gaps and openings to get a shot or two on the target and you will likely survive as the aimbot always aims at the dead center of either body part, not responding well to leans. I am sure other people who use software can confirm this if any doubt. If you were killed while hiding after kiting, camping or whatever it may be, chances are you just got farmed for XP by a wallhacker.
Please stop frequently denying the cheaters, some are very obvious, and some only get obvious once they meet an equally skilled or better opponent. I always test my targets before engaging them, and they often respond with communication through body movement through walls, or try to prefire you. It is near impossible to identify desync/lag with cheaters strafing and using aimbot/norecoil without any context or a full overview of the situation, so the video report format BSG currently is using is -highly- inefficient, and likely has innocent players banned even today.
I can vouch that the RMT countermeasures have greatly punished sellers and cheaters alike. I used to sell roubles to fund my cheats, and now it is incredibly much harder to do so, and have become too tedious of a process to go through with. Well done BSG.
I would consider myself a veteran cheater, a dirty stain on the community, but I am still talking from experience and thousands of hours in the game. I don't advocate the use of cheats, and I would strongly recommend playing without as they will taint the charm of the game, making it bland, boring and a money sink, as you won't be able to quit playing without it. What I wish to gain out of this is more awareness to the issue, I would love to play the game without cheats, but I will not touch the game as of right now, knowing the current situation myself.
I cannot for the sake of my life understand why there isn't a review team monitoring people who get 25-30 kills in 3/5 raids, or match playtime/account date with stats to potentially flag some accounts for review. In the foreseeable future, avoid labs, reserve, customs dorms, woods sawmill, interchange kiba and shoreline apartments if you want clean games. It is hard to identify the hackers, some go for your loot, some go for your XP and kill you regardless, some avoid you and farm high tier then extract. I have met them all.
Edit;
As a final addition; I would like to add on the unhealthy amount of gate-keeping the community has. Sure, we do want new players to join and enjoy the game. You can easily be oblivious to these things happening and have it pass as regular occurrences without suspicion in the first 60 hours or so, but people will catch on, make a post here and posts will be the same endless cycle. I am not fishing for karma, hence using a brand new account.
It is incredibly difficult to identify foul play without third party software, unless you know what you are looking for. While having a 3D representation of every entity in the game, every raid, every day, for such a long time, you can identify these as easy as you can identify colors. I do not possess statistics or footage of this, due to having a low-end system. I can definitely say at least 7-8/10 raids I play, have someone using some variation of illegal third party software.
If BSG introduces some sort of new countermeasures in the near future to combat cheaters as a result of growing attention to the issue, I will present my profile with stats. I am responsible for -thousands- of illegitimate kills. To put it in a better perspective, I can easily get 20-30 kills during a full reserve match, 25*100 raids is 2500 kills. AI included. My all-time total is likely staggeringly higher than that. If I were from a 3rd world country, I could easily live on the profits of selling the roubles alone, while funding my cheats.

We made $2,5M with content marketing

This is a true story!
The backbone of our company success has been Google, and by extension, YouTube. Hear me out. Our website gets around 250,000 organic visits per month. I'm excluding all paid and all social media traffic from that number; those are visits to our website that came from somebody looking for an answer in Google and stumbling upon our content.
Also, our YouTube channel is getting close to 1,500,000 monthly organic views. Since we started these efforts, the traffic driven to our products has generated over $2.5MM in sales! Insane. ‍So the potential when focusing on content marketing is enormous.
We are still a small brand, considering, but we get millions and millions of brand impressions every year, you could say 'for free,' thanks to our presence in Google. But this did not come easy, or cheap. It took us years to develop it.
TLDR --- watch our video

How we improved our SEO ranking

Early Stages
In the early stages of the company, we had a small blog and a basic social media presence. This is back in 2014, so having a Facebook profile still translated into some organic views and some organic traffic. We didn't do content marketing, per se. At least not diligently. We mostly just published simple articles and promoted them on social media, without a lot of money to boost them. At this stage, we didn't have our business model clear, so we were mostly looking for leads and sign-ups. Free beta testers that would give us some data about our product experience.
Scale
This was a question that changed the course of our company. When we joined the 500 Startups accelerator, our point of contact, said,
'We are going to give you $75,000 as part of this program, how will you spend them to SCALE FASTER, and bring users PROFITABLY'?
That question pointed out two critical flaws in the way we were thinking about our business. First, let's understand what 'bring users profitably.' What you pay to bring a user into the platform needs to be less than the revenue you get from that user.
That's like, basic business. The fancy term is unit economics. So at that stage, we were charging $5/mo for our product. Sorry, that's not the case anymore.
If we subscribed to a user and got them to stay for 12 months,, we would charge them up to $60. It turns out it's VERY HARD to get a user into the platform for less than $60. Not to mention that we need to save some money to serve that user- you know, servers, customer support, etc.. So to the second point, 'Scaling Faster.' Up until then, all of our (very few) users had come organically.
We were probably making about $1,000/mo in subscriptions. Most of them came via our social media campaigns, some press articles, and so on, but we weren't doing any ads or campaigns that we could quickly scale. So here was the problem, there was no campaign that we could do that could get us, users, for less than $60. If we spent the $75,000 we had, we'd come out of the experiment with less money, and well, die.

So what did we do?

The Pivot
We did two simultaneous experiments. We increased our pricing- at that point, we set our plans at $120 and $150 per year—no monthly plans. At the same time, we started running ads on Google Search. And this is the key to everything. If you don't know how Google Search works, you pay to appear on top of the Google Search results.
So we started paying clicks from all keywords that related to our business. 'Presentation software.' 'PowerPoint alternatives.' Presentation Design. You name it. We carefully tracked the visitors that came from those keywords to figure out what they did on the platform. It turned out, many of them found the platform exciting and signed up for an account, but very few of them were paying for a plan. But there was one keyword that worked wonders: the keyword 'pitch-deck.' For every $90 we spent on ads, we subscribed one paid customer; and since $120>$90, we would make at least $30 in profit immediately. Remember, we were doing annual plans, so we didn't have to wait for those customers to renew; we were recovering this cash immediately. Amazing.

Nothing good ever lasts

This, of course, didn't last too long. While the keyword 'pitch-deck' was a gold mine, there are only so many searches for this keyword or related words. Soon enough, there was no more money we could pour into this campaign to get us more clicks. We were the first result in ads. We did a little hack, launching a second site we called pitchdeckexamples.com and running ads to that one as well.
They worked great, and the combination of these two websites allowed us to dominate these searches. This grew our company to about $20,000 in monthly subscriptions, and after that, we couldn't pay for more clicks. We had the money because everything that we paid to Google we'd recover right away... but there were no more searches to target. So right there, we realized that our ads had a 5-10% click-through rate. So out of every search on Google, our ads would capture up to 10% of the traffic.
Where did the other 90% go? Well, to Google's organic results. And we were nowhere to be found in those. So we figured we should rank in Google. Now, this is absolutely critical: we only did this AFTER we knew the audience that we were targeting. Content marketing is expensive, very expensive. You get tons of traffic but a small percentage of conversions.. so you don't want to be wasting that effort targeting an audience that doesn't care for your product. This strategy worked because we knew that the audience looking for 'pitch-deck' was made up of startup founders. And so, we started developing content for them.

The content boost

I started writing like crazy. 2 or three articles per week. Pitch Deck teardowns, pitch deck redesigns. Pitch deck templates. We also combined those writing efforts with content boosts. If I just wrote the article and shared it on our tiny social media channels, nobody would read it.
So we decided to spend some ad money to boost them and get more people to read them. We focused on getting readers as cheap as possible but always making sure that the traffic we drove actually read the content. If you just push traffic to a page, and they leave 3 seconds later, the Google algorithm will figure out that your content is terrible. The articles were, of course, optimized for search (that's called Search Engine Optimization). And the combination of the extra (quality) traffic and the sudden burst of content from this page called slidebean.com- started getting our content to the front page. This was an 11-month effort. The longest bet we had made on a single campaign up to that point.
I estimate that we spent around $70,000 ver the course of those 11 months. Everything was done in house, by the way. Our marketing team grew from just me to a group of 4 people throughout that time. One year later, we had articles ranking in first, second, and third place for the keywords that were valuable to us. We even stopped running ads, because the traffic now came 'free.' Slidebean was built on the backbone of this experiment. We grew to over 10,000 customers and over $1MM in annual revenue from people finding us through search.

The platform

We, of course, continued to publish content. Stopped driving paid traffic, and our domain became 'powerful.' The content we post in our blog now ranks rather easily because Google considers our domain a source of valuable content. But then, we reached another ceiling. We were capturing most of the searches related to pitch decks and investor decks, and we were still a small company. Now what.?

YouTube

That's when we looked at YouTube. YouTube is, after all, the second-largest search engine in the world. We began by creating video versions of our blog posts, which failed. If you're curious, you can find some of those older videos by scrolling deep into our video uploads. I don't recommend it. We do have a funny-ish version of this same story, which I shot while I drank one Jagermeister shot per minute. True story.
We also tried interviews and a sitcom, which didn't work either. And a tech/design review series we called The Good the Bad and The Tip, which also didn't work.
Finally, in October 2018, we found our format. This format. Me, reading from a teleprompter in front of a green screen, with some fancy graphics behind me. I'm a digital animator, so I actually did the animation on our first few videos. After we found the right combination, we expanded our team, and now we have three people who work behind the scenes to get two of these videos to you every week.

Now, is this right for your company?

You should NOT do content marketing as your first strategy. As I said, it's expensive, it takes time, and there's a lot of trial and error. These videos are expensive.
Our latest estimate tells us that each of these videos costs well over $1,000 to produce, considering that we don't outsource anything. You have to do content marketing once you figure out that your unit economics work. Once you know what the perfect audience looks like, and the type of content they consume, you can double down. I still believe Google Search ads are a fantastic method to figure out if your unit economics are working. We have another video on Startup Growth, which covers a few other options you can use in the early stages. Other ways we can help- We have some consulting hours available to help companies around this. And there's Slidebean, of course, which you can use for free.
If you have any questions, drop it in the comments.

Make Money on the Internet Using Affiliate Marketing

For many website owners who do not have a product or service of their own to sell, it can be hard to make money online. Sure, you could sell advertising space, but unless you attract a large amount of traffic to your site, nobody will pay you a pretty penny to have you advertise their site. So, you dont have any product or service to sell and advertising wont bring in an income worth celebrating over. What do you do now? The solution is simple: Affiliate Marketing.
Affiliate marketing is a simple concept and millions of websites rely on affiliate marketing to bring in the bulk of their sales. Basically, you try and sell other people’s products for a commission. Commission can be anywhere from 5 to 75 percent of the price of the product. Generally speaking, your software, information products, and services provide the highest rate of commission. It’s easy finding products in those categories that provide 50 to 75 percent commission!
The most effective way to convert your traffic to sales is to make sure that the products and services you are advertising on your website target your visitors. If your site deals with automobiles, trying to market someone else’s cook book will fail and if I could take a bet, generate zero income.
Another helpful tip is to make sure your advertisement doesn’t look like an advertisement. People do not visit your site to pay any attention to the banner ads placed everywhere. They visit your site for information on what you provide. If your site deals with online dating, write several reviews on different online dating services out there on the Internet with links to the services.
So exactly how does this work? How do these people know that you are the one responsible for the sales lead and not somebody else? When you sign up as an affiliate for different products and services, you are given a special link to place on your website. When one of your visitors clicks your link, the website you are refering visitors to knows that the visitor came from your site. Then, if the visitor purchases that website’s product or service, you are credited for the sale and earn the commission.
When looking for a product to market as an affiliate, visit some websites selling products or services that relate to your website’s information. Many of these sites will have affiliate programs and have a link placed on their site with information on how you can sign up to be an affiliate with them.
Affiliate marketing along with selling advertising on your website (check out Google Adsense) is an amazing and very profitable way of generating income for your site. It cost nothing and there is no inventory to keep. It’s all pure profit. What could be better?

ZCode System Reddit - Review and Discount

ZCode System Reddit - Review and Discount
Why am I writing this? Well, when I stumbled throughout Zcode System for the first time, there weren’t many real reviews around so I thought I’d write one quickly to assist any of you who are in the same position I was.
But be warned, I’ll be going into each the good and the bad points, so if that’s something you might not desire to hear, then you may as well go away now.
I like to update this post each and every so often to go into any cool updates that Zcode has had over the years and, oh boy, brace yourselves, have there been some updates.
Anyway, let’s get on with the ZCode System Reddit review.
Product type: Sports Gambling Investment
Website: zcodesystem.com

https://preview.redd.it/xpedjund5jp51.jpg?width=617&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e66981a7cd799948b596edbc4b37b4e1d58d5368
“Zcode System” is a comprehensive sports investing program that is designed to provide you advice on what sports occasions to bet on and which ones to avoid. It does this by examining a massive database comprised of 13 years’ well worth of sports data and spits out its prediction based totally on this evidence.
Zcode gives predictions on all major U.S. sports activities including the NBA, MLB, NHL, and (starting in a couple of weeks) NFL.
For example, today (March 4nd, 2020 when this is being written) the Houston Rockets are enjoying the New York Knicks. Zcode gave the Rockets a 97% chance of winning the game, however this is only a 3 half star bet in accordance to Zcode. Not the worst, but definitely some thing you’ll want to think twice about. Zcode is all about the VALUE of a bet, now not just purely the odds.
It did, however, provide the Under 230.5 points bet a 63% of hitting. Now this guess is a 5-STAR RATING! This is the highest rating that Zcode offers and means that there is immense cost in this bet.
Analysis like this is given on every game.
Click here for the Official Zcode System Website.
I’ve tried pretty a few “sports investing systems” over the last year or so and don’t get me wrong, I’ve observed some winners and some stinkers. Zcode is the first system I’ve seen that now not only gives you the picks, however also tells you WHY it’s giving you these picks the use of straight-up statistics, not “gut feelings”.

Stop gambling: Zcode system scores predictor

The Zcode system is the contrary of luck and chance. This system is a making a bet robot. The system operates by the usage of math, taking in statistics, and analyzing them to identify patterns.
When putting a bet with your gut, your instinct is usually to place a bet the use of the previous ten head-to-head results.
Using your instinct to wager you just, hope, pray and enjoy the tension. However, this system modifications all of this as it is fully based on the analysis. Because it takes in all of the overall performance history of the teams or components playing. With that, it develops a data-based report that shows a pattern, its repetitions, and the effects based on that analysis.

ZCode System Reddit - Who should use the Zcode system?

In a nutshell, if you are addicted to the thrill and exhilaration of betting, this may not be for you. Now, for these of us who like to bet to make money, regardless of the excitement, this system comes to maximize profit.
So, if you do no longer care much for sports however are a fan of money, look no further than this system. I mean, I don’t desire to discourage those who love the thrill of betting, but this can absolutely reduce that a lot. You do not have to watch heaps of hours of sports or even a single hour to make a winning bet.
Why need to you use the system?
The Zcode system analyzes and summarizes thousands of games.
The product takes into account greater than 80 parameters. This ensures that everything in a single recreation is deeply analyzed.
The team, the game’s location, and even the player are all part of the statistics. All of these years of gathering games’ facts have lead to the discovery of patterns of outcomes. The off-day might come, where a specific team manages to turn its success around, but that rarely happens.
The device helps you make money not via merely giving the losing or triumphing side, but they also will assist you with scores. This is a method that rarely fails, as my cash can attest. The system also gives a rating of one to five stars making it simpler to determine which bet to place.
In this system, income are guaranteed.

The Biggest Self-Driving Truck Startup Stumbles in Hitting High Goals

TuSimple has fallen short of expectations, hampered by the same technological challenges that have afflicted other developers of self-driving vehicles. It had predicted several hundred million dollars of revenue by this year, but instead acknowledges revenue is minimal, according to the company’s financial projections reviewed by The Information. And it has fallen short of its timeline for removing human backup drivers, repeatedly pushing that goal into the future.
THE TAKEAWAY• Best-funded developer of self-driving trucks has missed revenue goals• It has repeatedly missed its timelines for removing backup drivers• Defense Department asked Treasury for security review
TuSimple’s situation illustrates the obstacles lying in wait for even the best-funded autonomous vehicle startups. Companies including Embark, Ike, Plus.ai and Kodiak Robotics have poured money into outfitting semitrailer trucks with sensors and software that aim to remove a huge expense—the drivers—from the $700 billion-plus revenue U.S. trucking industry. Most of the other startups, unlike TuSimple, didn’t set public timelines for achieving driverless trucks.
Started in Beijing and San Diego in 2015 by California Institute of Technology computer scientist Xiaodi Hou and Mo Chen, now its CEO, TuSimple has barreled past its competitors in terms of size. TuSimple has the biggest headcount of any self-driving–truck startup with 600 employees, including 350 engineers. It has raised $300 million, at a pre-money valuation of about $1 billion, from investors including Sina, known for its stake in Weibo, China’s version of Twitter; Beijing-based CDH Investments; and microchip maker Nvidia. TuSimple says it’s in the process of trying to raise more.
More than a dozen times per day, TuSimple says, some of its 40 trucks guided by its self-driving software travel across fixed routes in the Southwest, including a 130-mile stretch of interstate highway between Tucson, Ariz., and Phoenix, accompanied by two human operators. In China, it operates 20 prototype trucks, which it tested at a port area near Shanghai.
Revenue Shortfall
While it generated early buzz based on videos of its retrofitted big rigs and gained clients like McLane, a food distributor owned by Berkshire Hathaway, TuSimple’s business has remained small because its software hasn’t advanced enough to allow it to remove human backup drivers from the vehicles. This has resulted in far lower revenue than it told prospective investors to expect.
In 2016, the company had a lofty business forecast: It anticipated generating $284 million in revenue from U.S. operations in 2020 and nearly $1 billion in revenue in 2021, according to a fundraising-related document viewed by The Information. From its self-driving trucks in China, it forecast $171 million in revenue this year and $776 million next year.
Instead, its current revenue is minimal, according to a different document related to a recent fundraising effort. The document didn’t specify the amount. TuSimple President Cheng Lu said in an interview that TuSimple has “very limited revenue for the size of the company,” which is one of the reasons it applied for and received a Paycheck Protection Program loan of between $2 million and $5 million from the U.S. Small Business Administration to avoid layoffs.
That shortfall has not prevented TuSimple from continuing to tell prospective investors profits are coming. The company projects that in 2026 it will generate more than $4 billion a year in profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization from more than $12 billion in revenue by operating a commercial freight network of more than 30,000 driverless trucks, according to the recent fundraising document.
“We set very aggressive goals for ourselves and try to keep them as much as we can,” Lu said. “The difference now versus five years ago is, from our perspective, we have clearly defined the [technical] problem.…We understand the complexity of the trucking problem and have driven hundreds of thousands of miles to understand the edge cases and how to solve it. And we do have to execute it.” (Edge cases are rare occurrences that can trip up an automated driving system.)
The allure of autonomous trucks is twofold: They would follow fixed highway routes, which represent an easier technical problem to solve compared to transporting human passengers within cities. They would also cut labor costs while solving a chronic industrywide driver shortfall for some types of freight routes—a shortfall that persists even amid the Covid-19 economic downturn. The opportunity has also attracted new, well-funded competitors, such as Alphabet’s Waymo and Aurora Innovation, which originally focused on automating passenger cars.
Despite the surge in investments, the trucking startups have run into some of the same challenges as self-driving car pioneers. One such issue is developing a system that can reliably react to unfamiliar occurrences, from recognizing potential dangers far ahead of the vehicle to encountering mattresses or bricks on the road after they fall off other trucks.
Missed Milestones
TuSimple is no exception. Like its rivals, TuSimple hasn’t disclosed data about how well its automated driving software performs, but it has discussed changes to its technical strategy. After initially heralding a system focused on cameras and computer-vision software, it now incorporates lidar laser sensors, a device most self-driving–vehicle systems use to detect objects.
“We set very aggressive goals for ourselves and try to keep them as much as we can”
It has also had to push out timelines for proving the capabilities of its technology.
In an interview in mid-2018, TuSimple’s head of public affairs, Robert Brown, told The Information that the company planned to remove the human backup driver from behind the wheel of its prototypes as soon as 2019. It has yet to do so.
Last year, co-founder Hou told Forbes that TuSimple wanted to reach that same milestone in 2020. President Lu now says the company plans to run prototypes without a backup driver by 2021.
TuSimple may have good reason to delay removing backup drivers.
On the morning of Sept. 26, one of TuSimple’s retrofitted 18-wheelers was involved in a freeway collision on Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix that resulted in an injury. A speeding vehicle hit the back of a van in front of the TuSimple truck, and then spun around and came to a stop, according to a video recorded by TuSimple and viewed by The Information. The software system was tracking the car and was prepared to brake, said TuSimple Chief Product Officer Chuck Price, but the backup driver slammed on the brakes first, which he says may have saved the car driver’s life. The truck then hit the stopped car at a relatively low speed. TuSimple voluntarily suspended prototype road testing for two days.
Red Flags From Defense Department, High Costs
Meanwhile, U.S. security concerns over TuSimple’s Chinese ties loom. The company says roughly 40% of its employees are located in mainland China, and major investors such as Sina and CDH are based there as well.
That drew the interest of an agency within the U.S. Defense Department. That agency asked the U.S. Treasury Department to review Series D funding received by TuSimple, which the company said totaled $215 million, according to a person with knowledge of the matter who requested anonymity. However, the Treasury’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., which investigates foreign investments in U.S.-based companies and can block them if they pose national security concerns, did not choose to review TuSimple’s funding.
As TuSimple avoids such detours and seeks to perfect its technology, it is also facing a rising wall of costs.
Its deal last week with truck manufacturer Navistar to develop by 2024 production-grade vehicles with TuSimple’s self-driving software came at a steep price tag, according to two people who spoke to Navistar. TuSimple, which also gave Navistar an equity stake in the company, is expected to pay Navistar tens of millions of dollars per year for at least several years to develop and gain access to Navistar trucks. TuSimple’s software would then more easily be able to control the trucks’ steering, brakes and throttle.
It’s a contrast to the self-driving car world, where manufacturers including Hyundai, Magna International and Volkswagen essentially paid the developers of automated driving software they worked with. A Navistar spokesman did not comment.
TuSimple’s Lu said, “Both sides are committing resources and capital over the next four or five years” to develop and test dozens of trucks in the field. “We’re happy to fund it,” he said, adding, “As a tech company we have access to capital.”

How can I earn $100 per day from a blog?

If you’re starting from scratch with no traffic or influential friends, it’s easy to wonder…
Is it reasonable for you to believe you can make money blogging?
For that matter, how do blogs even make money? Ads? Or something else?
Well, let’s take a look at exactly how I did it at Smart Blogger. Here’s my complete step-by-step process for how to make money blogging:

1. Choose a Profitable Blogging Niche

Let’s start with a little brutal truth, shall we?
Passion does not equal profit.
Neither does expertise.
Hard work doesn’t guarantee anything either.
For example:
You can be the world’s foremost expert on square-shaped tomatoes, wake up every morning with a burning passion to educate the public on their vast superiority to normal-shaped tomatoes, and work until your fingers bleed and your eyes fall out of your head, following all the right tactics for growing a popular blog, and…
You’ll never have a chance in hell at making any money.
Here’s why:
Nobody but you gives a damn about square tomatoes
Even if they did care, they wouldn’t spend any money
In other words, you need a large audience who buys things. Without that, nothing else matters. It’s a prerequisite for everything else.
In the case of Smart Blogger, I noticed early on that bloggers buy lots of different things:

In fact, there are companies with $10 million+ per year of revenue in most of those categories. It’s also a growing space with millions of people:

The only pVery to to Sherryroblem?
Loads of competition. Whether it be my previous employers Brian Clark or Neil Patel, my good friends over at Problogger, or the gazillion other “blogging about blogging” peeps infesting the social media space, everyone was intent on snagging a piece of the pie. They also had a several year head start on me.
So, how did I compete? The honest answer:

2. Level up Your Content Skills

Embed This Infographic On Your Site
You’ve probably heard that “Content is king,” and it’s true… to an extent. A more accurate statement would be…
The Best Content Is King
If that’s hard to understand, think about it this way:
Lots of bloggers sit down and think, “What will I write today?” They jot down some thoughts, doing their best to be helpful, original, and entertaining. If they’re disciplined, they might even stick with it for a few months.
But it almost never works. Here are a few reasons why:
What you want to say isn’t what other people want to read
You weren’t using a proven content framework
It’s not the best post ever published on the topic
Granted, it’s not your fault. Until today, chances are no one ever told you about any of those requirements. You thought you just had to write interesting stuff and publish it.
No, grasshopper. No.
The truth is, having good ideas and powerful words isn’t enough. you have to create the best content ever published on topics lots of people are interested in learning more about. And that brings us to the three levels of content creation:
You know what content is popular in your niche, and you write exclusively about those topics
You’ve mastered frameworks proven to make your content more popular (list post, how to post, etc.)
Your content delivers more value to the reader than any other post published on that topic
You’re probably thinking, “Geez. That sounds hard.” And you’re right, it is.
I personally spent about three years honing my skills by writing for other sites before I started my own blog. It doesn’t have to take that long — I’m just a perfectionist, so I wanted to learn from the best people in my space.

It worked, though. Nowadays, my posts get millions and millions of visitors, not because I know some special “secret,” but because I’m really good at what I do. In fact, I’ll go ahead and say it…
Blogging is really no different than anything else. The more of a bad ass you are, the easier it is for you to make money.
So you want to know how to make some money blogging?
Become a badass writer.
Then the next step is to…

3. Figure out Which Traffic Sport to Play

When you’re a beginner, getting traffic is confusing.
Should you focus on optimizing your keywords? Growing your Facebook page? Leaving comments on blogs? Answering questions on Quora? Creating videos for YouTube?
And so on.
There are a gazillion traffic tactics out there. Everybody says theirs is the best.
But here’s the data:

Source: Facebook and Google dominate web traffic, but not the same kind
Pretty much all the traffic for written content comes from either Google or Facebook. The rest of traffic sources combined don’t even come close to competing with those two Goliaths.
So, how do you get them to send you a bunch of traffic?
One option is you can pay for it. They like that.
But chances are, you’re reading about how to make money blogging because you don’t want to pay for traffic. You want it for free, right?
Well, imagine this:
There’s an arena where all the bloggers in your space go to compete for traffic. The number of other challengers you defeat determines the amount of traffic you receive.
In other words, getting traffic is a sport.
There are winners, and there are losers
To be good, you have to train
You need to study your opponents
There are actually two sports, and I’d bet you’ve heard of both of them: search engine optimization (SEO) and going viral on Facebook. Both take years (yes, I said years) of study to master, but you can start getting pretty decent traffic after just a few months of study and practice.
Which one should you focus on?
Well, here are two questions to guide you:
Is your topic something your friends and family regularly talk about on Facebook? Examples: pets, parenting, self-improvement, and health. If so, focus on playing the viral traffic sport.
Is your topic something people actively search for information about on Google? Examples: product reviews, specific questions they would ask an expert, how-to information. If so, focus on SEO.
For most topics, you can do both, but one or the other will be dominant. In that case, focus on whichever one is dominant.
In the blogging space, for example, stuff about writing and grammar occasionally goes viral on Facebook, because we love criticizing our relatives about their terrible English. On the other hand, you rarely talk with your family about blogging platforms, WordPress plugins, affiliate marketing, or any other blogging topics.
You will, however, search for them on Google. Just as you would guess then, the blogging niche is heavily dominated by search. Here’s a breakdown of Smart Blogger’s traffic by source:

The truth is, we pretty much ignore Facebook. The volume of traffic available there comes nowhere close to the volume of traffic available from Google. So, we focus on Google.
I also spend WAY more time keeping up to date on SEO stuff than I do on social stuff. I’m a geek about it. Throw me in a room full of Google engineers, and I’d probably know more than half of them.
Not to imply I’m the best, though. I’m also competing against people like Darren Rowse, Amy Lynn Andrews, and Neil Patel. They’re pretty freaking good too.
In time, I think I can be better, but who knows? That’s why sports are fun. You never know who is going to win.
If you’re good though, you’ll always be in the “playoffs,” for your space, and you’ll get lots of traffic. Maybe not the most, but still plenty.
And then you can focus on how to…

4. Grow Your Email List with Pop Ups

Chances are, you see pop ups as an annoyance.
They get in the way when you’re trying to read. They ask you to hand over sensitive information like your name, email address, and phone number. Sometimes you have to deal with multiple pop ups on the same site, and it makes you feel hassled and uncared for.
And all that sucks. In my opinion, you have every right to be annoyed.
But here’s the thing…
That’s where the money comes from. The best predictor of the revenue for a blog is the size of their email list. Here’s a breakdown of our revenue at Smart Blogger comparing revenue device from email to other sources.
The rule of thumb is you can expect to make $1 per subscriber per month. So, if you have 10,000 email subscribers, you should be able to make about $10,000 per month.
So obviously, growing your email list is a top priority. You might, however, feel conflicted about using pop ups. What are you supposed to do?
Here’s a different way of looking at it:
If a visitor comes to your site and doesn’t give you their email address, the chances of them returning are nearly zero. You’ll never have another opportunity to help them.
If you believe your content is the best, and you believe you can help them over time, I believe you owe it to them to be as pushy as possible about staying in contact. In other words, not using a pop up is unethical. A little annoyance is a small price to pay for change.
And remember, that doesn’t mean you have to be extremely pushy or spammy. You can absolutely use pop ups in authentic ways.
But you absolutely must use them. Assuming you want to make money, anyway.

5. Begin Monetizing with Affiliate Offers

So, you’re operating in a profitable niche, and you have traffic and an email list. What next?
Lots of bloggers jump into creating a course or book or community of some sort, but that’s a mistake, in my opinion. Before you start selling things, you need concrete evidence those things are what people want to buy. Otherwise, you’re risking wasting months or even years of your life trying to push a product no one wants.
The simplest way to obtain that evidence:
Affiliate offers.
By seeing what your audience buys from other people, you can get a much better sense of what they might want to buy from you. If you promote a product and it converts well, you should think about creating a similar product. If it doesn’t convert well, you should probably move on.
In other words, affiliate offers are a form of market research. As a bonus, you just so happen to get paid commissions on the products your customers buy in the process. So not only are you learning what your audience wants to buy, but you’re making money from your blog at the same time. Pretty sweet deal.
At Smart Blogger, I’ve tried lots of different offers. WordPress hosting, landing page tools, email marketing software, WordPress themes, and half a dozen different types of courses. Since we sell courses, I pay the most attention to the results from those programs, and here are a couple of lessons:
End to end solutions sell best. Courses promising to take someone from knowing nothing to making money far outperformed the others. For instance, here’s a screenshot showing us as the #1 affiliate for Danny Iny’s Course Builder’s Laboratory:
Tools with a clear connection to making money also sell better than the others. For instance, landing page builders. As proof, here’s a screenshot of our earnings from promoting LeadPages:
By themselves, neither of those promotions really moved the needle on our revenue, but they did teach us useful lessons that went into creating Freedom Machine, which brings us to…

6. Develop a Unique Mechanism

Before you think about launching your own products or services, there’s one essential point about human nature you need to understand:
Whenever anyone purchases anything, they expect to transition from where they are now (Point A) to where they want to be (Point B). For example…
When you buy pizza, you want to transition from being hungry and craving pizza (Point A) to tasting delicious pizza and feeling full (Point B).
When you hire a plumber, you want to transition from having a clogged, overflowing toilet (Point A) to having a normally functioning toilet (Point B).
When you buy a course on SEO, you want to transition from feeling bewildered and getting ignored by Google (Point A) to ranking for competitive terms and getting traffic.
The success of a product ultimately depends on helping customers make those transitions. If the customer doesn’t get to Point B, they typically view the experience as a failure.
So, here’s the magic question:
What makes you better equipped to deliver that transition than your competitors?
The answer to that question is what marketing expert Todd Brown calls your “unique mechanism.” It’s a little different from a “unique selling proposition,” because it’s not just something about you that’s different. It’s something about you or your method that makes you better able to help customers than anyone else.
For Freedom Machine, we have multiple unique mechanisms:
Get published on Medium — a platform with more than 60 million active readers looking for content
You don’t have to struggle with setting up your blog. We do it for you.
A research concierge who will do your research for you instead of having to pay for expensive tools
Content frameworks developed behind the scenes at Smart Blogger to produce popular content
A monetization methodology proven by our success with Smart Blogger
Advice on how to automate everything, so you eventually get more freedom
Weekly calls with me where I will help you set up your Freedom Machine
Combined, those unique mechanisms are EXTREMELY convincing at setting us up as the superior solution. Therefore, the product sells like hot cakes.
To be clear… it’s not necessary to have 7 different unique mechanisms. Sometimes just one is all you need (i.e. fresh, hot pizza in 30 minutes or less). The core idea though is to make sure you are obviously far more capable than your competitors at delivering results.
Then all you have to do is…

7. Launch the Minimum Viable Funnel

Look around at successful entrepreneurs of any type, and you’ll find a surprising trend:
They tend to sell their products before the product is created.
To most people, this sounds like insanity at best or a disturbing lack of ethics at worst. How could you possibly ask people to buy something that doesn’t exist?
The answer:
It’s the same principle as Kickstarter.

You create a fancy minimal sales funnel of some sort (in this case, just a simple sales page), tell people the product is coming soon, and then wait to see if enough people sign up to justify making the product. If they don’t, you refund everyone’s money and start over.
In other words, it’s the final step in validating you have a viable product. The steps go like this:
Identify demand by promoting affiliate products
Find a unique mechanism that makes you clearly superior
Test the demand for that unique mechanism with a quick and dirty launch before you create the product
In my case, the minimum viable funnel was a 90 minute webinar. The first time I did it, there was no product, no follow-up sequence, nothing. It was just a bare-bones test.
And it resulted in $126,000 in sales live on the webinar.
Seeing that $30,000 sales was my minimum for success, we went ahead and created the first version of the product live with students. About a year later, it’s now approaching $1 million in sales.
That’s also just one product. We have others, and we have still more in the research pipeline.
And guess what I would do if I had to start over again?
The exact same thing. It’s not easy, it’s not fast, it’s not even that sexy, but it works.

7 Ways to Make Money Blogging (with Examples!)
Now that you have a general framework to use, let’s jump into the specifics of how to make money blogging, including real-world examples you can study and learn from.
Here are the top 7 ways to make money blogging:

1. Online Courses and Workshops

Here at Smart Blogger, we make most of our income from online courses and workshops — over $1 million per year — but we are far from the only ones. Most of the people making serious money from their blogs are doing it through courses
Ramit Sethi reportedly crossed $10 million dollars in annual revenue with his suite of premium courses:

And it’s not only business or wealth focused topics that are doing well. You can find blogs on just about any topic monetizing with online courses. For instance, the popular interior designer Maria Killam has quite a few courses and workshops in her catalog:

2. Books and Ebooks

Quite a few writers have parlayed their blogging success into a major publishing deal. Mark Manson, for instance, published a post called The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck in 2015. Millions of readers later, he got a book deal with Harper Collins and went on to sell over 3,000,000 copies in the US alone.

Self-published books have also been successful. The most notable success story among bloggers is probably James Altucher’s Choose Yourself, which is now sold over 500,000 copies:

3. Affiliate Marketing

If you’d like to earn some passive income from your blog, one of the best choices is affiliate marketing — recommending the products and services of other companies in exchange for a commission.
Here at Smart Blogger, we make more than $100,000 per year promoting affiliate products, most of that coming from casually recommending products we love like Siteground (affiliate link) and Ahrefs (affiliate link).
But there are lots of other examples too. For instance, Digital Photography School has reportedly made over $500,000 in Amazon commissions from promoting photography equipment:

4. Advertising

Normally, we’re not big fans of selling ads on your site. You need roughly a million visitors per year for the large advertising networks to take you seriously, and affiliate marketing is almost always more profitable and just as passive.
That being said, some niches like recipes, fashion, and news are hard to monetize through many of the other methods mentioned here, and they get LOTS of traffic. In that case, putting a few ads on your site can make sense as a supplementary income source.
For example, here’s a screenshot of a 2016 income report from Share the Yummy:

Normally, you make money by joining a network. Nearly anyone can join Google AdSense, for example, and you can later grow into more selective networks like Mediavine and AdThrive.

5. Speaking Gigs

If your blog takes off, and you start being recognized as an authority in your space, you might be surprised by how many invitations you get to speak at conferences. And it’s amazingly profitable. I typically make a minimum of $10,000 per speech and it can go as high as $100,000 when you count product sales resulting from the speech.
Not bad for a 60-90 minute talk.

6. Consulting/Coaching

While this certainly isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, doing a bit of coaching or consulting over the phone can earn you a surprisingly nice living, even when your audience is small. I don’t do consulting anymore, but the last time I did, I charged $1,000 an hour with a six-month waiting list.
But I’m not the only one. Going back to Maria, again, she’s been quite innovative coming up with ways to do design consultations by photo and email, currently charging $1,275 per room:

You can make this work in almost any space. You just need to know what you’re doing and be confident in the value you are providing to clients.

7. Selling Freelance Services

The next step up from consulting is to actually do it for them.
Typically, you’ll make more money with this than anything else, but it’s also the most draining and time intensive. That being said, I’ve seen bloggers make six-figure incomes with no more than a few thousand readers on their blog, essentially using their blog as a lead mechanism to get clients.
It’s so profitable, even if successful bloggers continue to do it. For example, Elna Cain continues to sell her freelance writing services:

If you’re a writer, designer, photographer, programmer, or other service provider where your skills can be sold digitally instead of you having to be there in person, you might want to consider it from day one. All you really need to get started is a contact form for clients to reach out to you.
Let’s close with some questions and answers, shall we?

FAQ about How to Make Money Blogging
So, we’ve covered the basic process. Now let’s step back for a moment and answer some of the questions I hear the most often:
Do bloggers make money?
I certainly do, but I don’t think that’s what you’re asking. I think you’re asking…
“Is it reasonable for me to learn how to make money blogging?”
The no BS answer:
It depends on how patient and persistent you are.
Starting a blog from scratch is just as difficult as starting any business. For example, it requires the same time and effort as starting your own restaurant, software company, or accounting service. Yes, those businesses are wildly different, but the first few years are usually the same story: low income, lots of stress, big learning curve.
If you want a more concrete answer than that, we’ve found it takes even our smartest, most dedicated students 3-6 years to make enough money from blogging to quit their jobs. And that sounds like a long time, but so what? 3-6 years to be able to work from anywhere in the world, take a vacation whenever you want, and probably have passive income until the day you die?
Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
How much money can you make from blogging?
The fact is, most bloggers make as much money as any other type of entrepreneur:
Nothing.
And it’s not because there’s no money in it. This blog makes more than $1 million per year, for God sakes, and it’s nowhere close to the most profitable blog out there. Blogs like The Penny Hoarder, Moz, and Lifehacker power businesses worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

So why aren’t more bloggers rich?
The truth is, most people quit. They start a blog, realize it’s hard work, and walk away.
But if you’re patient and persistent?
You can make millions. I have. So have lots of other smart, dedicated entrepreneurs.
You just have to do the work. Consistently. For years.
Can you do that?
Then yeah, I think you can make six figures at least. Maybe more.
How do you make money blogging? (Or, How do bloggers make money?)
As I mentioned earlier, there 7 popular ways to make money blogging:
Offering online course and workshops
Writing books and eBooks
Affiliate marketing (recommending products and services in exchange for a commission)
Blog ads
Speaking at conferences
Offering your expertise as a consultant or coach
Selling freelance services such as writing, designing, and programming
Which is best for you will depend your blog, your expertise, and your situation.
How do you start your own blog for free?
Lots of people say you can’t. They tell you to buy a domain name and a hosting account and a premium WordPress theme.
But I think that’s nonsense.
You can get started for free within five minutes on Medium. They also have over 60 million monthly readers, so you can get a lot of exposure there if you get featured.

This article walks you through that strategy, step-by-step.
Alternatively, you can write on WordPress.com, Linkedin, or any of the other platforms out there. It doesn’t really matter. The point is, start writing and learning as soon as possible.
Once people start sharing your articles, and you begin to understand how everything works, then you can go through the trouble of setting up your own site, installing WordPress, and all that jazz. Until then though, it’s just a headache you don’t need.
What are the most popular blogging platforms?
WordPress is by far the most popular. No one else is even close.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the best for everyone. There are several — and most of them are free.
As I mentioned earlier, I think Medium is a good place to start. You can also create your own blog with tools like Blogger, Squarespace, Wix, Joomla, and countless others.
What are the top blogs about how to make money blogging?
I’d like to think Smart Blogger is the best (and most comprehensive) site on the topic, but it’s by no means the only one. Not all of these talk about how to make money blogging, but together, they give you a solid foundation:— Brian Dean doesn’t talk much about how to make money blogging, but he’s one of the top experts and educators in the world on SEO. What I love about his content is how easy to understand it is, despite covering some incredibly complex topics. If you’re a beginner, prepare for a treat.
— In my opinion, my friends over at Digital Marketer are the best in the world at monetizing traffic. If you’d like to learn about marketing, list building, customer research, automation, or funnels, there’s no better source. If you’re interested in using your blog to build passive income, Pat Flynn is a master at showing you how to build a tiny little business that can support you and the lifestyle you want. Both his blog and podcast are excellent.
Want me to walk you through all of the steps?

Here's a free workshop where I'll walk you through the steps, so you can understand EXACTLY what you have to do to be successful.
The Bottom Line about How to Make Money Blogging
Is it possible?
Absolutely, but only if you treat it as a business.
Yes, you can start your blog as a side project. Yes, you can slowly grow it in the background. Yes, you can turn your blog into a source of passive income that eventually lets you quit your job, travel, spend more time with your family, whatever you want to do.
But like anything worthwhile, it’s hard work getting there.
You have to study. Practice. Master your craft.
If you love writing, I can’t imagine a better business, though. Not only is blogging a great way to get your writing noticed, but it’s a great way to connect with people around the world who need you, teach them what you know, and get paid pretty damn well in exchange.
There’s never a day I regret dedicating myself to blogging. Never.
It’s not just because of the money, either. It’s because I also get to do what I love and help people at the same time.
What could be better than that?
