Do I have to be in a state where sports betting is legal to collect my online bet or does it only matter where the bet is placed?
I’m going to be going to Maryland next week to visit family. Betting isn’t legal there, but where I’m staying is right on the border of West Virginia and Pennsylvania where it is legal. If I drive over the border and make a bet on like DraftKings or something do I have to be in a state where it’s legal to collect?
ILPT REQUEST: Online sports betting in non legal US state
Recently I’ve really gotten into sports betting, but since I live in Nebraska, a non gambling state, I have to drive to Iowa to make any bets. Not ideal long term. Are there any workarounds to this? Maybe a VPN or something that would allow me to do it online? I’ve heard about offshore sports books that supposedly I could use but don’t understand how they work or what some reputable ones would be. Any advice would be appreciated.
If someone were to win a large amount of money while gambling online in a State that doesn't allow sports betting. Is there a legal way to claim this money and pay taxes on it?

Legal or illegal? Online gambling/sports betting is allowed in some states but pretty much anyone can sign up with a credit card and get an account and start betting online. I wonder if anyone's been arrested for this yet.
[DKNG] Dilution isn't over. Per Barron's, 32 million shares sold on Tuesday. Another 95 million (estimated) could come on Oct 20.
Per Barron's Story Here, another 95 million shares are expected to be sold on Oct 20th (in addition to 32 million shares sold on Tuesday). So you should wait on buying.
As many of you know, Draftkings went public Friday through a reverse merger with DEAC. When announced last November, the deal was valued at $3.3 billion. In order to hold $400 million cash as required by the terms of the deal, DEAC sold stock which was originally priced at $10 per share. The value of those shares rose to ~$17 by market close yesterday driven by people wanting to invest in Draftkings before the deal was finalized. These DEAC shares are being swapped today 1:1 for DKNG shares. Problem is, DEAC's S1/A (describing the deal - link below) filed with the SEC yesterday described a large increase in the supply of shares of stock available following the merger. On the 2nd page DEAC is listed as having 44.7 million shares of stock and 3 million warrants. In the "description of securities" section on page 150 it says the following: After giving effect to the Business Combination, New DraftKings will have approximately 313 million shares of Class A common stock outstanding (assuming no redemptions) and approximately 394 million shares of Class B common stock outstanding (assuming no redemptions). For the original deal valuation of $3.3 billion be true, the share price with a 313 million share supply should be ~$10 per share, which is exactly what DEAC offered to pay for shares that did not wish to be converted to shares of DKNG at the shareholder meeting yesterday. Today, DKNG stock opened at over $20 per share which indicates a deal value of over $6 billion. How is this possible when it seems existing shares are being diluted 6-1? At Charles Schwab (and many other brokerages as well), DKNG shares have not yet been provided to sell. On Friday, the orderbook was incredibly thin, but once new shares hit the market large holders have the liquidity they need to dump at an absurd valuation. Buy all the puts? Someone please tell me why I am wrong? Deal prospectus - SEC filing: https://sec.report/Document/0001104659-20-049986/#b_020
Tomorrow May 1st, 2020 Colorado becomes the 19th state to legalize gambling! I been using bovada these past few years for my bookie but switching to FanDuel. Although, there won’t be much to gamble on I’m excited & is there anything to know when switching to fan duel? For example paying taxes? TIA
DraftKings (DKNG) -- long term hold or meme stock?
Considering buying 100 shares today based on pure speculation. My gut feeling is that sports betting is only starting in America (compare to say its long history in Western Europe). Thoughts? Is this a growth stock after all?
