I am 53 years old, have a combined $210,000 annual income, live on Long Island, NY, and work as a Project Coordinator

First, I'm sorry this is so long. Second - please be nice. We have debt, bad habits, and are Catholic. So if any of those things are going to get you spun up, just skip this one.
Section One: Assets and Debt Use this section to explain your current financial picture at large.
Everything here is joint – “M” and I have been married 22 years and we’ve had “smashed money” that whole time (and really for about a year before that).
Retirement Balance (and how you got there): Approximately $500,000 in a variety of IRAs and current 401(k)s.
Equity if you're a homeowner (and how much you put down and how you accumulated that payment). Bought our house in 2001 for $239,000 with 20% down (some aggressive saving and a gift from each of our parents). We refinanced, took some cash out for some home repairs, and reduced it to a 15-year loan in 2009 – our current equity would be about $195,000, but similar homes in the neighborhood are listed at $475,000-$525,000, so if we ever sell, we’re probably coming out ahead.
Savings account balance: $6,000
Checking account balance: $6,500
Credit card debt (and how you accumulated it): I hope you’re sitting down. Approximately $40,000. Yes, you read that right. How we accumulated it? The house is 90 years old and constantly falling apart, so we’ve had to charge things that needed to be done (some we wanted to have done, but some – like the time our oil burner stopped working in December – were needs). We had two dogs with numerous medical issues – I don’t want to calculate what they cost me, but they each had surgeries that were about $5,000 (each), plus other chronic and acute medical issues. And yes…for a while, we were doing and buying things we probably shouldn’t have (not bad things, just vacations, clothes, and non-essential home improvements) So…when I’m 100 and greeting people at Wal-Mart, I’ll at least have some good memories. That said, I can’t tell you the last time I used credit – if we can’t afford to pay cash, we don’t do it (and I say that fully realizing most people would feel that I shouldn’t do anything).
Student loan debt (for what degree): None – my husband went to the military and then to work after high school and I went back to community college later in life and paid as I went.
Anything else that's applicable to you: If my ex-husband dies before me, I’ll have about $6,000 in a money market that he must have forgotten about. When we divorced, he was supposed to liquidate all those accounts and give me half. He was an accountant and a SOB, so I never knew exactly what we had, but what I got seemed accurate (it paid for furniture, my wedding to M and part of this house, so I was OK with it). Lo and behold, a couple years ago, I found out we still have this money market account in both names. I tried to find him so we could liquidate/split it, but he’s missing. I get the statements here now, and the good part is he’s older than me, so I’m holding out hope he predeceases me and it will be mine.
Section Two: Income
Income Progression: I've been working in my field for a year and a half, my starting salary was $100,000. I did a salary story with the entire progression – long story short, I’ve made more, and I’ve made less, but this is probably about the average of the last five years.
My husband has been at his job for 14 years – he started there making around $75,000 and now makes $110,000. They usually give him a $10,000 bonus at the end of the year, but are always crying poverty if people ask for a raise. Prior to that, he worked for a company that paid very well and he had a 15-minute commute, but he got out one step ahead of their bankruptcy.
Main Job Monthly Take Home:
Me: $5,152
J: $6,230
Side Gig Monthly Take Home:
M is paid $1,300/month by our parish for serving as Youth Minister.
Any Other Monthly Income: $16.00
I get quarterly dividends on stock I was given when I was born (I may not have been born into money, but apparently my grandparents had friends who thought this was a good baby gift). The last few were around $50, so I divided by 3.
Section Three: Expenses
Rent / Mortgage / HOA fees (please specify how you split it if living with a partner): $3,043, which includes the property taxes and homeowner's insurance
Savings contribution: $500/month without fail (my bank transfers $100 if we get over $500 in, so once each paycheck and once when we put the church check in). More if I feel the savings needs a boost.
Debt payments:
Donations: OK – anyone who isn’t screaming because I owe $40K is going to start now.
Electric: $110
Gas (stove/hot water): $50
Oil: $250/month in the winter
Wifi/Cable: $179
Cellphone: $252 for both of us (I get mine expensed except $26 for my phone payment)
Subscriptions:
Car payment / insurance: $295/month for my car (leased). My husband is driving a 10-year old car that is paid off. $128/month for auto insurance
Lawn care: $50/month
Commuting: Now that we’re in COVID times, I’ve been buying a 10-trip off peak railroad ticket every five days for $78.75. Pre-COVID, M and I each bought a monthly ticket for $270, and I took the subway most days for an additional $100/month. I fill up the car about once a month (~$36) and M fills his about every other week (~$70/month)

7:45 am: Up and at ‘em! I get up, get coffee, check emails and social media and start the day.
8:00 am: M leaves the house for a long list of errands, the payment for which will be shown below. I put in a load of laundry and discover…a leak! There is a large pipe between our powder room sink (which I used when I woke up) and the outside world that runs through the basement and is apparently leaking. Yay whee. If you get one thing from this diary, let it be these words of wisdom – don’t buy an old house! No beautiful feature is worth the aggravation! I get the water (I hope it’s water) cleaned up, a load of laundry in, take a shower, do some picking up around the house, get dressed in a Rangers t-shirt and cut off distressed jeans, do my makeup (Olay microsculpting serum and Miracle Blur over the bottom of my face, pink, gray, and violet eyeshadows, a swipe of foundation under my eyes, black eyeliner, black mascara, and dark brown eye pencil. This is standard everyday makeup for me and will be repeated each day. I put volumizing mousse in my hair and blow dry it (also routine).
In the meantime, M gets a haircut ($30 including tip), sets up the video equipment at church, goes to CVS for passport photos that he needs for an application ($18.87), and goes to the religious goods store for a book of the Liturgy of the Hours ($42.31). He is starting formation for the diaconate (the process of becoming a Deacon in the Catholic Church) today, and they said he’ll need that book. He also needs the photos for his application, and he stops at the bank for two money orders – one to send with the background check request and one for his high school transcript ($26). On the way home, he picks up breakfast (brunch?) for us – classic New York BEC, SPK (bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with salt, pepper and ketchup) for him and egg whites, turkey and swiss cheese on a whole wheat wrap for me ($10.78), as well as cigs for him and vape cartridges for me ($36).
The washing machine isn’t causing any additional leakage, so I move the wash to the dryer and start moving the winter clothes from the portable closet in front of the leaking pipe upstairs (they’re not wet, but we’re going to have to move the closet when the plumber comes).
After eating the egg sandwiches, we get changed for deacon class – I look like a good church lady in black slacks, a black and white flowered shirt with a black tank underneath, and black sandals with a chunky 2.5” heel. M goes with the classic golf shirt and dockers. While we’re getting changed, he mentions he needs new underwear, so I whip out the phone and order him some ($18.64).
6:30 pm: Home from deacon class and Mass and the groceries show up! I ordered them yesterday, but I don’t think the charge went through till today, so here goes. Asparagus, broccoli, celery, bananas, cucumber, lime, grape tomatoes, peaches, carrots, potatoes, spinach, lettuce, zucchini, frozen burgers, ground turkey, chicken breasts, whole chicken, fried chicken and a pot pie for J’s lunches, yogurt, sugar free pumpkin spice creamer (YES! I’ve been looking for it for weeks!), milk, heavy cream, OJ, k-cups, frozen green beans, cauliflower rice, stuffing mix, microwave rice, cake mix (the good ones were on sale), chicken broth, potato chips, and trash bags. Spent $154.95 including delivery, saved $14.50 (very low for me), tipped the delivery guy $10.
7:00 pm: After putting away all that food, what do we do? If you guessed order dinner, you’d be right! I don’t cook on Saturday unless we’re having company. We order from a new taco place – three each and “Mexican wings”. The wings were meh, but the tacos ranged from good to outstanding. $53.78 including tip. After dinner, M starts post-production of the Mass video and I do some laundry, watch the NASCAR race and the hockey game, and play games on my iPad. Remember, you’ll be old someday too!
11:00 pm: I go to the basement to pick up laundry and remember I wanted to order a new garden flag (this isn’t as random as it sounds – all my seasonal decorations are stored in the basement). I have had a cart set up for days with two garden flags ($6.99 each) and four magnetic mailbox covers for my parents for Christmas ($11.99 each) – they’ve talked about having a different one for each season, and I saw them when I was looking for a garden flag. Total with tax and free shipping: $61.94. I love Christmas and generally spend way too much on gifts so I’m trying to start shopping before December and at least spread out the pain. We went to a crafts fair a few weeks ago and I picked up a few things and now I’ve got this done – go me!!
12:30 pm: The hockey game is over (2 OT!) and I go to bed. M is napping waiting for his video production to finish.
Daily Total: $463.27
Sunday, September 27
7:00 am: The alarm goes off – ugh. It’s the first day of Religious Ed (virtual, but I have to do a 9:45 zoom with my 4th graders). Coffee, social media, shower, dress, makeup. Put on a black eyelet dress because we’re going back to church today so M can videotape First Communion. Do the usual makeup/hair thing.
10:30 am: My 4th graders are great and we’re ready to roll (M has on a shirt and tie in honor of the First Communion), and we’re off to Mass. Drop off the food I bought for our food pantry last week and help him video. Of course, the kids are adorable!
12:00 noon: We’re starving after church, so we stop at our favorite local pizza place on the way home. Get a variety of slices for $22.62, including a tip (we’re getting it to go, but I’m tipping everywhere, because I know restaurants have been hurt badly by the pandemic. These folks are in NYC and still haven’t opened inside dining.)
1:30 pm: Ate, ran more laundry, changed into the jeans I wore yesterday and a Yankees t-shirt and call the nail place. Of all my expenses, nails are probably the most non-negotiable – I’ve been getting my nails done for 40 years, and when I couldn’t do so during the lockdown, I was miserable. They can take me right away, which makes me happy.
3:00 pm: All 20 nails done – gel on the fingers and a regular pedicure with callus removal ($75 plus $15 tip = $90). I went with an autumn theme and got copper on the fingers and bronze toes – the nail polish looked in the jar like it would match the toes, but it doesn’t. Stop at CVS for eye cream (Olay for tired eyes) and mascara (L’Oreal Voluminous) - $27 with coupons. M asked me to pick up cigs on the way home, so I do, as well as vape cartridges, which I don’t technically need yet, but it will save a trip later in the week ($36).
3:30 pm: While at the nail place, I saw that one of our favorite local restaurants had a fire, which consumed an entire block of restaurants and small businesses. The Chamber of Commerce is doing a GoFundMe, and I donate $25 to the cause - $28.75 including the charge. I also notice that the weekly charge for my church donation went through ($75).
11:30 pm: Took a quick nap (the highlight of my week every week), put some fall decorations out, had our family Zoom call, laundry, got the end of the winter clothes moved upstairs, had dinner (roast chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and roasted asparagus), made an apple crisp (I’m not a huge dessert person but M is and I like making desserts, so it works), watched baseball, football, the NASCAR race, and basketball, and took a quick shower. Bring a Light & Fit Toasted Coconut Vanilla yogurt (the best!) to bed, finish my book (“Next Stop, Chancey”) and find the next in the series on my iPad – I’ve read them all before, but I’m in the mood for something cozy, especially after reading about the Current Occupant’s taxes – ugh!) , and turn off the lights around midnight.
Daily Total: $279.37
Monday, September 28
6:45 am: I work from home M/W/F and so I can sleep in. Relatively speaking, anyway. Get dressed in a sleeveless top and shorts (despite the fall decorations, fall nails, and roast chicken/apple crisp, it feels rather summery out there), do makeup, have some coffee and scroll through emails/socials, move yet another load of laundry (I’m trying to get it all done before the plumber comes), find the number for the plumber and give it to M to call, get the trash out, and boil some eggs for breakfast this week. I’m sitting in front of the computer by 8:15, which is ok (technically, my hours are 8:30-5:30 – it’s usually more like 8:30-6:00, and on WFH days, starting at 7:30 is not unheard of). M drops off the car at the shop – I think I forgot to mention this, but he mentioned yesterday that when he was driving around Saturday, there was a grinding noise when he backed up. More joy to come, I’m sure.
9:45 am: I hear M on the phone with the garage – apparently, they can get a used part and do the job for $450. Not great, but it’s better than it might have been! He works from home basically every day except when he has to see customers, but thankfully we’re separated enough that we can hear each other but it’s not intrusive.
10:30 am: Between cursing at people on the phone, M calls the plumber and I grab some cheese and more coffee! I’d tell you about my job, but honestly, it’s not worth talking about. Basically, I go to meetings, take notes on meetings, and send follow-ups (I do other things, but that’s most of it). When I get off my 11:00 am meeting, I’ll find out when the plumber is coming. You guys are getting a much more exciting week than I expected!
12:30 pm: What a miserable day – it seems like everyone is annoyed! Take a break to eat a slice of leftover pizza and a Diet Coke (M finishes some rotisserie chicken from last week). He says the plumber may come today to look at the situation but can’t do the work till tomorrow.
6:00 pm: Keep my head down and get some work done in the afternoon and knock off for the day. Run downstairs and make dinner – “tacos” with strips of beef grilled with Korean barbecue sauce, shredded cabbage, cheddar cheese, pineapple salsa, cucumber slices, and lime inside warmed tortillas. Delicious, if I say so myself!
7:30 pm: I get on a Zoom faith sharing meeting and M gets on a Zoom religious ed class.
11:59 pm: Contemplated Sunday’s Gospel with my small group, watched Tampa Bay win the Stanley Cup, took a shower and set clothes out for tomorrow, and off to bed. M picked up the car after Religious Ed.
Daily Total: $450.00
Tuesday, September 29
5:45 am: Ugh. Up and out – I’m wearing a green dress with a black jacket and have black slingbacks in my bag. I have to walk 30 short blocks and five long blocks once I get off the train, so I’m traveling light. I used to take the subway to my office, but since COVID, I try to limit that as much as possible.
7:45 am: Off the railroad and walk uptown. I actually don’t mind the walk, because when I WFH, I walk very little – at the beginning of the lockdown, I had a nice walking routine, but lately the work seems to start the minute I wake up, so walking to work takes care of getting in those STEPS! I forgot my boiled eggs and I’m starving, so I end up buying an egg sandwich. $5.43
12:30 pm: Because I only go to the city twice a week and I have to walk uptown with all my work stuff, I don’t bring lunch often (pre-pandemic, I used to bring breakfast and lunch every day, but I also took the subway). Decide to run to Pret and my boss and co-worker both ask me to pick something up. Of course, no one (including me) has anything but a $20, so they both say they’ll get me next time. I get my favorite chicken parm wrap and a Diet Coke. $32
12:45 pm: I look at my personal email and discover that J’s car registration needs to be renewed. Hop on the DMV website and take care of that. $158.50. I also realize I never took out the sausages for tonight’s dinner and call M to ask him to do so. He mentions the plumber has still not shown up.
5:45 pm: Leave a little early to get to the Fed Ex office and make my train home. I’m a little later than I’d like to be and it’s raining, so I get the subway, which is thankfully empty, reasonably clean, and quick. $2.75
7:15 pm: M picks me up at the train station and mentions that he was so busy working that he didn’t take the sausages out. He asks me what I want to eat and we end up at Wendy’s. Cheeseburger, fries, and (surprise, surprise) a Diet Coke. He gets the same thing, but bigger. $19.75
11:30 pm: Avoid the debate by watching the Yankees pound the Indians. Usual routine (plus ironing a shirt for J, because he has to go to a customer tomorrow) and off to sleep. I’m up to Book 3 in the Chancey series, for those keeping score.
Daily Total: $218.43
Wednesday, September 29
5:30 am: Double ugh. Woke up to use the bathroom and couldn’t get back to sleep, so here we are. Get dressed (long-sleeved Yankees t-shirt, straight leg jeans), do the face, have some coffee, and try to avoid the fact that my boss sent me an email at 11:00 pm last night looking for changes to a document, which I said I would do today. Get the trash out, pick up a little around the house, and get to work by 7:00. OH, and despite the lack of plumber and his lack of general motivation, M moved the plastic closet…in front of the washing machine! Glad I bought him underwear, because I won’t be doing laundry any time soon. Now I’m wondering if he looked at the menu (I am an obsessive meal planner and post it on the fridge weekly) and that’s why he didn’t take the sausages out – he’s avoiding zoodles! He can run but he can’t hide – I have zucchini and I’m going to spiralize it sooner or later!
8:00 am: The document my boss needed is out, the agenda for our 9:00 am meeting is done, the morning emails are sorted (for now), and I got a link to our parish survey up on the Facebook page, so I make an egg and cheese on a tortilla and eat at my desk.
12:50 pm: Wednesday is conference call hell – I have recurring calls every Wednesday at 9:00, 10:30, and 11:30, and the added fun today of a 10:00. There’s also a webinar every Wednesday that I try to tune into. Grab some chips and a Diet Coke and go check it out.
2:15 pm: Still no damn plumber, but I’ll let M worry about that when he’s home tomorrow. My garden flags arrived, so that’s good. Hoping to get out and put the pumpkin one out before it gets dark, but the way today is going, that might not actually happen. However, I realize I never put dinner in the crockpot. Luckily, it only takes 3-4 hours on high, so I take care of that. It’s Tuscan Chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and spinach. By 2:30, I’m back at my desk with another Diet Coke and hard at it. Nightmares of rescheduling meetings, missing documents, etc.
6:45 pm: Still at my desk! OK, I took some time to send an email to the parish webmaster about the survey, update this, and read the R29 money diary of the day. But overall, I’ve been working with no apparent end in sight – I could easily be here all night, but I won’t be because (a) I’m falling asleep at my desk and (b) I have a 7:30 Religious Ed teachers meeting. Hopefully I won’t fall asleep during that. Make a list of things for my boss and I to review tomorrow and finish prepping dinner.
7:15 pm: Dinner was delicious – we had the chicken with rice for M and cauliflower rice for me, sautéed broccoli, and a basic salad (bagged spring mix, cherry tomatoes, cucumber). Now off to Zoom!
11:45 pm: The Yankees game is still on, but I’m showered, my clothes are set out for tomorrow, and I’m fading. Turn off the light and hope for a win.
Daily Total: $0.00 (bet you didn’t see that coming!)
Thursday, October 1
5:45 am: You know it…ugh. Get up, coffee, very quick scroll through the Yankees score/e-mail/social media. Get dressed in a black v-neck sweater, black and gray plaid skirt, and black jacket (not the same one I wore the other day). Am grateful the skirt fits – I gained some weight and am trying to resist buying clothes. Make sure I have the right shoes in my bag – I’m wearing high-heeled gray suede Mary Janes today.
8:15 am: At my desk and ready to go – I remembered to bring 2 hard-boiled eggs today, which I eat with coffee while looking through emails.
12:30 pm: Call after call after call, but I have a half-hour to eat. Run to the fancy buffet place that just re-opened for 2 meatballs, brussels sprouts, broccoli, salad, and the inevitable Diet Coke ($15.75). Manage to eat before my 1:00 pm call – go me!
3:30 pm: Leave to go to a job site and pick something up that has to be shipped to Italy. Something that's almost as tall as me, but thankfully not heavy. Taxi down there because I’m in a hurry and I can get reimbursed ($14.04, including tip), expensed.
4:00 pm: I get a cab to the Fed Ex office – thankfully the first one I see is a minivan, so I fit in just fine ($12.74, including tip), expensed.
5:30 pm: Well, that was harder than it needed to be – the Fed Ex office I went to didn’t have a box that would fit the item, so they suggested another Fed Ex office about 6 blocks away, so I had to walk through midtown Manhattan carrying an object almost as tall as me (it's 5' long and I'm 5'3" tall) while dodging oblivious people. Thankfully, the other office had my box, and they were super-sweet and helpful, but it took them forever to get it done. Bought the box and bubble wrap, which will be expensed (I brought the Fed Ex label, but I don’t remember the account number) ($43.54). Get a nice early train home, though!
6:45 pm: Wow, we’re eating when I’m usually getting the train! Cheeseburgers, tots (tater for J, cauliflower for me), green beans, and vinegar coleslaw with the end of the shredded cabbage. Get the kitchen cleaned and the dishwasher run and settle in to watch the Jets – I’m not holding out much hope, but you never know!
11:30 pm: I’ve showered, set out clothes for me and M (he’s seeing customers tomorrow), I prepped for Youth Group, which I’m leading because he’ll be working, and the Jets are winning, so I decide it’s time to sleep. Up to Book 5 of the Chancey series. I find series usually go downhill after about the third or fourth book, but I’m not sure what I feel like reading, so here we are. OH, at some point M must have gone to the convenience store, because there are vape cartridges on the table ($36).
Daily Total: $122.07; $70.32 expensed
Friday, October 02, 2020
6:00 am: Wake up, grab coffee, find out the Jets lost after all, do the morning e-mail/social media scroll. Leaving early to deal with that work errand has left me with a ton of stuff to do, so I get dressed (long-sleeved v-neck gray t-shirt, white tank because the v-neck is halfway to my belly button, dark wash skinny jeans), put out the trash, peel two hard-boiled eggs, and head to my desk.
12:30 pm: As always, call after call after call. Plus a bit of aggravation when my boss asks me at 10:30 for an agenda for the 11:00 call, which I sent him at about 7:30, and which he returns at 10:59 with the formatting looking like nothing on earth. Yay whee! And a project was mentioned that he forgot to tell me I’d do. So in case I thought I’d have nothing to do (that never happens on Fridays), that’s not happening. Anyway, between calls, I run downstairs for the lunch of champions – a Hot Pocket and a Diet Coke. Just that kind of day.
6:15 pm: Realize I have to run Youth Group at 7 and I haven’t even done my haimakeup. Get that done, heat up some frozen cauliflower rice/broccoli/cheese combination and add some leftover chicken. With a green salad on the side, surprisingly yummy.
8:15 pm: I am not a good youth leader…couldn’t get anyone talking about the subject of the day, which I thought would be a good one. I did make them laugh a few times, so that’s something.
M is going to have some expenses because he went to see customers today, but I don’t know what they are and his company will reimburse him, so I’m just leaving them out.
Daily Total: $0.00
This is the Week That Was:
Food + Drink: $326.06
Fun / Entertainment: $108 (if people can put drugs in as entertainment, I’m putting our nicotine in)
Home + Health: $61.94
Clothes + Beauty: $165.64
Transport: $638.03 (some of it will be expensed)
Other: $234.47
Lastly, reflect on your diary! How do you feel about your spending? Was this a normal week for you? Has this inspired you to make changes or has it given you a “wow I’m doing pretty good” confidence boost? Is there anything you’re actively working on? No need to answer any or all these questions but just use this space to write any thoughts you have!
This was a fairly normal week except for the car breaking and needing to be registered – we're saving some now that we WFH more because M will not bring food from home, but I used to bring breakfast and lunch at least four days a week. I know we should make changes, but I also know we don’t want to – honestly, if you looked at the way I lived 15 years ago, I’ve made a lot of changes already. We’re working on the credit cards – I’ve gotten rid of several already (paid off, not just moved balances around) and we don’t use them at all anymore (I can honestly say I don’t remember the last thing I charged). The bad news is that M’s car is on its last legs, and so I see car payments in our future. Hopefully, he’ll get something used – we have my car when we want to look good going somewhere (mine isn’t super-fancy, it just wasn’t hit by a bus and full of stuff for his job).
OH, and the plumber still hasn’t shown up! But that will be for next week’s expenses.

Boom...and we’re in Week 6 of the college football season (Corona Edition), even the SEC came to play. We will take a look at some of our consensus plays and provide some opinion based insight to put together some ATS winners.
For starters we will look at the Gators/Aggies matchup. The line has fluctuated from 7 to 6.5 and currently at Caesars Palace the spread is Florida Gators -6.5 -115 and Texas A&M +6.5 -105, linemakers are playing with the juice, moving it around a bit and charging to get the dog, they must think they have the number nailed at a touchdown spread and MAC is looking to beat that number!
Florida Gators vs Texas A&M Aggies
The Florida Gators have come out of the gate hot, QB Kyle Trask throwing 10 TD passes through their opening two games of the season. They have busted open the ATS record, going 8-3-1 through their last 12 games a legit 2-0 and ranked No. 4 in the AP poll after Georgia took the lead ahead of them following the Bulldogs win over Auburn.
The Aggies are 1-1 to start the season and they have a weak secondary that should get destroyed by the Gators offense. The MAC tends to stay away from Conference games because odds are usually tight & tough, it can be hard to find a solid pick, but our consensus groups have the Gators as a move and with the spread less than a TD this game has value
Play - Gators -6.5 (+10 Units)
Quick Trends-
  • Over is 4-0 in Gators last 4 games overall.
  • Over is 4-0 in Gators last 4 games as a favorite.
  • Over is 5-0 in Gators last 5 games on grass.
  • Gators are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss.
  • Over is 8-1 in Gators last 9 games as a road favorite
  • Under is 4-0 in Aggies last 4 games following a straight up loss.
  • Over is 4-0 in Aggies last 4 games as a home underdog.
  • Aggies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
  • Aggies are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points.
  • Under is 7-1 in Aggies last 8 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game.
Pittsburgh Panthers vs Boston College Eagles
If you look at the recent trends for the Panthers, you see a team that is just 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games. That being said, the Panthers have been winning their games outright, they are 3-1 in the early going of the season, they just can’t get a cover, it’s pathetic, oddsmakers are cashing in on Pitt.
The Eagles have been great ATS, covering in 8 of their last 10, but as far as this game, our information is telling us to stay away. Boston College defense has nothing to brag about, unable to stop 3rd conversions makes a case for betting the over, the offense can’t run the ball, averaging 2.4 yards a carry, and they are last in the ACC in both of these categories. Jurkovec has thrown 2 picks, one in the end zone and the Heels took it home for a meaningless win, one good thing is they don’t lose fumbles and are +5 in turnover margin. MAC has Panthers to win this one, the line is -6 and has moved back and forth from 6.5 and 6, but most importantly MAC sees action coming in on the total and is moving on the over, opening at 46 and currently set at 44 this should be an easy 55-60 point game. The trends seems to be the under but going against the grain is why The MAC is one of the most recognized sports gamblers in the industry.
MAC’s Final Score Prediction - Pitt 35 - BC 23
Play - Over 44 (+5 Units)
Play - Pitt -6 (+5 Units)
Quick Trends:
  • Eagles are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
  • Under is 4-0 in Eagles last 4 vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Under is 5-0 in Eagles last 5 games as an underdog
Miami Hurricanes vs Clemson Tigers
Given how dominant the Tigers have been in the ACC over the past few years, it is usually a bad idea to bet against them. The odds makers are giving them too much respect, our scouts are saying the line isn’t this high because of public money, it’s an inflated spread and could be a suckers bet. Let’s consider the fact that the Tigers have failed to cover this season and are now on a run of failing to cover in 4 straight games. MAC says play the ML hedge if laying the points, be smart and use bankroll management.
The Hurricanes have not had a lot of joy against Clemson in recent years, but are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 versus conference foes. With 43.3 points scored this season they are ranked #7, this could be another over play, though with the total set at 62, we will have to wait to see some line movement before placing any action on it.MAC has no apprehension when it comes to taking a shot and going against the grain, it’s what makes him a Vegas specialty. Take Miami to cover, take them, take the points, and take it to the bank.
MAC’s Final Score Prediction - Miami 21 - Clemson 35
Play: Miami +15 (+15 Units)
Play: Miami ML +450 (+4 UNITS)
Quick Trends:
  • Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game.
  • Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up win.
  • Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games.
  • Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
  • Hurricanes are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 meetings.

Effective Football Prediction Tips

Want to try betting on football? Or are you already betting but you need some expert advice?
Here are some tips for football prediction:
1. Goal Expectancy
Any betting website will provide you with details about target goals in a match, which is extremely useful in football prediction. You can also access this kind of information on sports websites and discussion groups. Aside from that, it is also possible to look at the previews of the match. In these previews, experienced analysts will include all the relevant details about future outcomes of a football match.
2. Home Ground Advantage
Based on statistics, the home ground advantage helps a team perform better than their opponent. Also, according to a Betting Expert website, a team that plays at home will earn +0.74 goal advantage. The same website displays figures for the last five seasons, where football clubs in the European leagues have a much better home ground results. They’ve had +0.37 opportunities at home goals which are higher than usual.
3. The Goal Differential
It’s common knowledge that the goal differential provides the best possible information about the match. In fact, the goal differential is the most available data in any statistical category. Nevertheless, goals tend to be rather random that’s why football matches often yield unpredictable outcomes.
4. The Football Team
Always keep in mind that the team is as strong as the weakest link. So, before you put your bet, you can check who’s going to play in the match. Also, try to gather as much data about them and determine whether they are playing better than the other team. The best players in the game will definitely give the team a better shot. But don’t overlook the new players in the league because they could even change the outcome of the game.
5. Goal Shots
Statistically, the more a player strives to score a point, the more chances he’ll get to score one. Every shot for a goal is different! Thus, you may need to consider the ball possession details for the team and their number of attempts and goal shots. If you look at the numbers, you will be able to see that teams with a higher share of possession will make better goals. Therefore, these teams will also have accurate data on goals.

Ranking all 32 NFL teams by training camp performance: Ravens, Steelers among the top five

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ranking-all-32-nfl-teams-by-training-camp-performance-ravens-steelers-among-the-top-five/
Any guesses as to which team rounds out the list at No. 32?
By Cody Benjamin
NFL power rankings are one thing. NFL training camp power rankings are another. And we're not talking about a typical pecking order, with the most likely Super Bowl contenders atop the list and every bottom-dweller rounding it out. We're talking about rankings based strictly on how teams are performing in camp -- on the field, off it, and everything in between.
Naturally, this kind of ranking still puts most of the real-life contenders near the top of the list. The Baltimore Ravens, our No. 1 team, for example, are both one of the betting favorites to win it all and clearly one of the best teams of this summer, thanks to solid practices from their starting lineup and a notable move to shake up their locker room.
But not everything is predictable in this special rundown. Some clubs, like the Las Vegas Raiders, are quite a bit higher than you might expect, solely because the talk of the town is, well, things have gone well for them in camp. (Didn't you hear? Derek Carr has finally "taken over the team" entering his seventh year in the league.)
So let's have some fun. Here's a look at how all 32 teams stack up based on what's gone down in camp:

1. Baltimore Ravens

Lamar Jackson only just recently threw his first interception of camp. Marquise Brown bulked up. Team leaders quickly but wisely escorted Earl Thomas -- sluggish on the field, distracting off it -- out of the locker room. This team is locked and loaded.

2. New Orleans Saints

So much for Drew Brees' offseason controversy derailing their unity. The offensive firepower has stayed healthy, the retooled defense has been energetic, and there's not enough talk about how well stocked they are for a title run.
Looking for some late-round picks that could win your fantasy league? Establish The Run's Evan Silva joins Will Brinson on the Pick Six Podcast to break down that and more fantasy tips; listen below and be sure to subscribe for daily NFL goodness.

3. Seattle Seahawks

Russell Wilson is feeling good. Pete Carroll is throwing shade. Jamal Adams is now part of their defense. Chris Carson is ready to go. Poke fun at their old-school game plans, but few teams are as confident as this one right now -- and can back it up.

4. Dallas Cowboys

No news is good news for America's Team, and outside of maybe Gerald McCoy's unfortunate injury, the 'Boys have stayed out of the headlines, with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and a loaded offense ready to explode come September. (Cue the Earl Thomas drama!)

5. Pittsburgh Steelers

It all comes down to this: Ben Roethlisberger is healthy. As a bonus, so is James Conner. The Steelers already own one of the NFL's top defenses, so if Big Ben's camp condition is any indication of what's to come, Terrible Towels will soon be waving across America.

6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

What more must we say other than Tom Brady is here? Bruce Arians' plan to recreate a makeshift 2014 Pro Bowl roster has its flaws, but still, it's hard to watch No. 12 throwing to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Rob Gronkowski and O.J. Howard and come away unexcited.

7. Kansas City Chiefs

Make no mistake: They're still No. 1 or 2 in actual power rankings. But losing Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and Damien Williams weren't necessarily small changes. By Week 1, Patrick Mahomes and Co. will prove that camp headlines don't mean anything.

8. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers has been saying all the right things since Jordan Love's surprise arrival, and now it's incredibly clear, in practice, why Rodgers is still the guy. Does anyone understand how fired up this guy is going to be to prove he's still MVP material?

9. Indianapolis Colts

Philip Rivers is having fun again. Jonathan Taylor is a beast. And while Parris Campbell suffered an injury scare, everything else seems to be clicking as expected. We just might be underrating Frank Reich's squad here.

10. Los Angeles Chargers

Tyrod Taylor certainly didn't seem that exciting entering camp, but he's lit up his supporting cast with the deep ball as of late. Austin Ekeler is his typically shifty self. And the defense has a swagger to match the talent. An underrated contender?

11. Arizona Cardinals

At this point, the Cards hype might be a tad overblown. But then players started raving about how Kliff Kingsbury is running the offense at a "crazy fast" pace. The Kenyan Drake walking boot is a little concerning, but this is still an electric bunch.

12. Las Vegas Raiders

Somehow, some way, Derek Carr is out to prove the haters wrong again. But this time he's actually got a supporting cast. Tyrell Williams' injury isn't minor, but the way they filled out the RB and WR groups has already paid dividends on the practice field.

13. New England Patriots

You might think the Jarrett Stidham injury would send them falling down the rankings, but we all knew Cam Newton was winning this job anyway. The defense, meanwhile, is dominating practice, which should be music to their ears considering their 2020 approach.

14. Houston Texans

Don't look now, but a healthy David Johnson and Brandin Cooks actually make the Texans offense kind of spicy.

15. San Francisco 49ers

There's no denying their firepower, but these WR injuries are starting to hurt. Presently, these are the only fully healthy wideouts on the roster: Kendrick Bourne, Trent Taylor, Dante Pettis, Tavon Austin, J.J. Nelson, Kevin White. It's like a cast of forgotten faces!

16. Los Angeles Rams

You've got to hand it to him: Sean McVay makes one heck of a Jon Gruden on "Hard Knocks." Oh yeah, and Aaron Donald is still freakishly good. Having a healthy WR corps, including Cooper Kupp, has rendered them still relevant in the West.

17. Denver Broncos

The Drew Lock hype has been just loud enough. Considering how much change Denver is working with on the coaching staff, it's safe to say John Elway's squad is moving in the right direction. The K.J. Hamler hamstring injury hampers them a bit, though.

18. Tennessee Titans

Until they make the right move and cover up the Vic Beasley move by adding Jadeveon Clowney, they don't deserve anything higher.

19. Detroit Lions

D'Andre Swift's leg injury is something to monitor, and Matt Patricia does not deserve the benefit of the doubt, but he scored some serious locker-room brownie points by helping the Lions take the first big stand, at least in the NFL, after the Jacob Blake shooting.

20. Philadelphia Eagles

Newcomers like Jalen Reagor have, by all accounts, blended well with Carson Wentz and a redesigned offense. Miles Sanders has been sidelined for a while with a "precautionary" designation, though, and losing left tackle Andre Dillard was obviously notable.

21. Minnesota Vikings

They finally, officially lost Everson Griffen, who doesn't get enough credit for what he did opposite Danielle Hunter. And now, suddenly, there's talk of first-round WR Justin Jefferson taking a slow path to No. 2 WR duties. Call it a so-so stretch in the Midwest.

22. Carolina Panthers

Matt Rhule has this group clicking behind the scenes. Don't you dare count them out for a run at .500!

23. Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa is on their practice field, folks. That is enough to be juiced up about this franchise. But everything else seems to be moving at a slower pace, from the rehabbing WRs to the transitioning CBs -- like big-money Byron Jones, who's catching up on "D."

24. Atlanta Falcons

It feels like half the talk coming out of Falcons camp has centered on new tight end Hayden Hurst. It's hard to tell whether that's a good thing or a bad thing.

25. Cleveland Browns

It wasn't just an injury bug that infested Cleveland. It was the whole hive. Nick Chubb is apparently fine after a concussion scare, and the offense is still due for a rebound, but it's hard to ignore big losses like Grant Delpit and Greedy Williams on the other side.

26. Buffalo Bills

It's fun seeing Josh Allen throw passes to Stefon Diggs, but lots to be concerned about here: Josh Norman's already buckling as a starting CB experiment, Devin Singletary's got a fumbling problem and ... the team's website writer possibly went rogue?

27. Chicago Bears

This might be resolved come Week 1, but why in the world has their QB competition been so quiet? For Pete's sake, if Mitchell Trubisky won't step up now, when will he? Meanwhile, Matt Nagy is basically begging for more kicker drama to unfold.

28. New York Giants

Not going to lie: Joe Judge taping tennis balls to defensive backs' hands was pretty clever. But if he keeps up the tough-guy stuff, this team's going to literally be running through brick walls by September. They can't afford that after so many injuries and opt-outs.

29. Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow is soaking up the praise, which is great, but can we go one week without another A.J. Green injury? Couple that with arrests and/or physical ailments for big additions Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander, and the arrow is pointing down.

30. Jacksonville Jaguars

Maybe Gardner Minshew won some more fans by ... joking that he's invincible in the face of a global pandemic? But this team is largely uninspiring, starting with the fact one of their best players, Yannick Ngakoue, still refuses to play for them.

31. New York Jets

Good on Joe Douglas getting a bunch of nice draft picks for Jamal Adams, but what else garners applause here? Sam Darnold joking about staying out of bars? Adam Gase putting himself on a track to start a 54-year-old Frank Gore over Le'Veon Bell? Yikes.

32. Washington Football Team

Alex Smith making a miraculous comeback is a great story, but holy smokes, talk about an apocalyptic summer. From bombshell harassment allegations to high-profile cuts to internal strife to a literal team re-branding, these guys are like walking TMZ headlines.

How to make bets on sportsbook?

Sports betting has been around for ages, literally. Hundreds of years ago, people bet on the outcome of sporting events in the same way as they do today. Since then a lot has changed, but the concept of sports betting hasn’t – you choose an outcome and you bet money on it. If you guess correctly, you win! Sports betting is popular because of this reason – it’s easy and straightforward. However, there is a more complex side to it (and the more expert players will know a thing or two about this). You can start off as a sports gambler with just the basics, but to get the best out of sportsbook there can be a lot to learn. Learning about sports betting, even if you bet for fun, would be a good idea and there are plenty of online articles that can guide you through the sportsbook. Can you read the odds of a game, and can you understand why they change and what causes them to go up or down? The key to being a successful sports gamer also lies in knowing how to read the numbers.

Why is sportsbook so popular?

Sportsbook is all about predictions of sporting events – can you predict the winner, the correct score, or the best players or scorers? Who will win the championship? Every prediction comes with an odd assigned to it. Sportsbook is easy and simple to learn. In most cases, you’re betting on the outcome of a sporting event on an online betting site. All you need to learn is how to place your bet and some basic mechanics eg cashing out. There’s no doubt that sports betting has a certain element of fun to it – hence why we call ourselves Funbet. Are you wiser than the bookmakers? Events on the pitch or in the arena may go your way, and until it does, it’s all part of the excitement. This also means that a sports gambler may know what he’s doing and therefore is not relying purely on luck. Statisticians, mathematicians, keen observers: these three make good sports gamblers as they have an edge. Get started at Funbet: login, make a deposit, and choose your favourite sport and then your favourite league and the game or games you wish to bet on. Are you late for the start of the game? You can still bet in play while you’re following the live-action, with bets that may include the next scorer, score at the interval, disciplinary sanctions and many others – all updated as the action unfolds. From time to time we’ll be uploading more information articles focusing on betting tips from a wide range of sports including football, tennis and rugby – these will help you realise what bets you should place, and top tips on what to bet.

Online Casino & Promotions

Don’t forget to pop over to Funbet’s casino and also have a look at the various promotions that are available from time to time on the promo page. There’s always something extra in the promotions page for you! For example, you can always avail yourself of the Cash Out feature if you think something’s about to change in a game. The key defender gets sent off and your team’s winning by a single goal? Get partial cash out on your bet instead of losing it if the opponents score – this allows you to minimise the risk without chasing your losses!
And, just like any great casino, Funbet’s got a Live Casino section well worth visiting!

How to start betting in a cricket match

How to start betting in a cricket match
Cricket is one of the most lovable games in the world. Every year ICC holds hundreds of matches between these countries in different formats such as ODI, Test, and T20’s. It becomes a matter of pride for all the cricketing countries to perform their best and win. But the truth is that it’s not just the players who are playing the match and want to win, but there are several other thousands of people playing off the field, and that is called betting.
You are betting with the help of online cricket predictions and tips from the tipsters or the gurus of cricket generated by analyzing several factors, records, data, history, conditions, pitch, and other variables. To start betting, you need to have enough knowledge of the game’s previous records, stats, and playing condition, etc. otherwise, you may lose the bet.
But, you have shortcuts now, there are many cricket betting prediction websites available over the internet for a new person to start their betting journeys such as predict88.com, playclues.com, and many more. With these websites, it becomes easy for them to bet over a cricket match using their tips and predictions published over the site.

Cricket Betting Tips
Steps to start betting in a cricket match
● Look for the best cricket prediction website over the internet.
● Follow the website and its updates.
● Look for the match to bet on.
● Check the prediction and tips published by the website.
● Create your strategy for a match using online cricket betting tips.
● Follow today’s match prediction.
● Start betting using their tips.
How to trust over a website and their tips
It is notably correct that there are several websites available over the internet, but how to select the best one and trust your money on them is a big question for a new person. You can judge a cricket match prediction site by checking the transparency of their offer and fair predictions, what factors are they considering to predict relating to toss results, players, batting order, match fields, and weather. How many years of experience they have and what expert thinking they used to break down game data into easy-to-understand match predictions and tips. A cricket prediction expert is highly experienced in analyzing statistics about games, players, and tournaments to give fair match predictions and tips. They offer the best cricket match predictions by taking an unbiased approach that puts aside human emotion and feelings in favor of the raw data.
Is it risky to bet using online cricket prediction
Almost every bettor in the world is now using a prediction website to ensure his winning in a match. Whether it is football, basketball or cricket, or any other popular game, people bet using a prediction site. And it is not at all risky since the chances of winning have risen from 50-50 opportunities to 90-10 % winning chances, and that is more than enough to build confidence that there are only 10 % chances that it will backfire; otherwise, it's a win-win situation all along.

My personal system for easily creating fun, original essay topics. Introducing: "Half-Ideas"

In my experience, the majority of problems students run into with their application essays are based upon picking a bad topic. By "bad" I generally mean the topic falls into two categories:
1) Done to death
2) Too weird for its own good
The first one I can easily provide samples for: probably my most common one is running track. A lot of students run track and want to write about their experiences. That's great except that a lot of other students also run track and have similar things to say. There are only so many ways to write about track - see if you recognize any of these classics:
- I joined track and was bad at it, but then I tried harder and now I'm good
- I'm really good at track and here is a list of my accomplishments you already saw on my EC that prove how good I am
- I'm just ok at track, but through the team, I have gained other skills like leadership that are important to me
- I loved running track until something made it so I couldn’t anymore. But then I got better and now I can again
- I loved running track until something made it so I couldn’t anymore. And I still can’t. But it’s ok I figured it out
- I don't actually like track, but in being forced to do it, I learned some valuable lessons
- Here is a live recap of me running the anchor on the 400 relay, with every student I pass symbolizing an obstacle I have conquered in life to get where I am
That last one is a bit of a joke. But it's indicative of the problem that I think drives elite students to get so...creative in the framing devices on their essays. You students know track isn't that special, but it is something important to you, and you want to talk about it. The end result is...well…
https://www.reddit.com/ApplyingToCollege/comments/fy37s9/i_think_modern_elite_essays_are_terrible_and/
And then the other problem is with "le quirky teen" essays. These never seem to work out as well as anyone wants. That penguin collection may be as important to you as you write about, but without anything more substantial to link those interests to, the essay falls apart.
So, what do we do about all this? How do we manage to write about what matters to us, but in a way that's still fun and original?
The answer is half-ideas.
"I like track because it taught me responsibility" is a half idea. So is "I have trouble sleeping when I'm nervous. So is "I collect stuffed penguins." So is "I like making people laugh and try to lighten the mood when things are hard." A half idea is anything about you or your world that you think colleges should know about. What makes half-ideas different from normal ideas is that we want to come up with these ideas with the full intention of combing those ideas together to create an original topic.
Some people stumble upon combining half ideas by accident. I did! I wrote an essay ten years ago that perfectly encapsulated how easy and powerful combing two ideas can be. My two half ideas for the topic were:
  1. I have ADHD
  2. I like to run
Either of these topics could be converted into a competent, if unexciting, essay on their own. I guarantee AOs will read hundreds of similar essays this year. But luck would have it, I combined those two half ideas into a full idea that worked a lot better. All I had to do was look at those two topics and try to find a connection between them. I've found that the best connections will pop out to you. Mine did:
How running helps me deal with my ADHD by giving me a way to quiet my mind and think clearly
The hardest part of my ADHD is getting my brain to stop moving so fast. As quickly as I start to think about something important, that thought gets batted away by garbage. I like running because I find when I get tired enough, my brain will quiet down, and I can think about things that are important or bothering me. I get most of my best thinking done six miles into a run. That's my essay.
I guarantee there aren't many students writing that essay. By combing two ideas into a single one, I make the topic much more personal and unique. I also build myself a natural narrative structure by both presenting a challenge and a way I conquer that challenge. "How X helps me with Y" is a great way to frame an essay Cool, right!
So let's get practical. The first step is to build as many half-ideas as possible. Just start posting as many ideas as you can. Don't worry about how you'll match them or if they're even worth matching. You've likely heard similar "just write; it doesn't matter what!" advice before, but I think that advice kind of sucks because it DOES matter what you write. With half-ideas, you should feel more comfortable posting weird factoids about yourself because you'll no longer have to worry about turning those ideas in a full essay. Just write them. Here are some sample list groups you can start with, along with as many personal half ideas I can think of for each.
Cool stuff you've done that would make a traditional essay
4 years Cross Country
3 Years Track
2 Years School Newspaper
4 years Parli Debate
Hosted a school zombie tag game
Active non-fiction writer
Started my own College Consulting business and made a sweet website, nbd (CollegeWithMattie.com)
Obstacles you've overcome
ADHD
I suffered through chronic illness in my 20s
Colorblind
Weird "quirky" facts about you
I love cats and have one named Penny
I love football and refuse to work on Sunday
I taught myself piano using a video game
Positive Personality Traits
My mom says I'm funny
I'm easy to talk to and once won a bet by speaking about my cat and college admissions for 3 hours straight
I think differently and often come up with solutions for problems no one else has (like this one!)
I see patterns well and am always looking for a more efficient way to do things
Goals/Passions/Proof of those passions
Want to be a private college admissions consultant
Finishing UC Berkeley certification on topic
Worked past three years as a counselor with company
10 years of writing experience
That's just a short selection. Locate any "idea suggestion" posts and you will find more topics to think about.
Now that I have my list, it's time for me to look for connections between the two. Often the best value for this method comes when one of the half ideas is from the "challenges/hardships" section. This is especially true for URM or any other student with a background hook. You want to present that background but do it in a way that's more tasteful than "I grew up X, and here's why it was hard." Combine that half idea with another interest of yours, so the topic becomes "How Y helped me overcome my Childhood as X". Yay half ideas!
When looking at my list, two ideas that come to mind are my history of illness + that I taught myself piano. I decided to teach myself piano two years ago as a way of signifying that my life was going to be different now that I was better. It turned out that way, and now I celebrate my piano playing as a symbol of the fact that life doesn't take things from me anymore; I gain from it.
Pretty good topic, ya? Seeing these topics all out in front of me made it easy to compare them to one another and see what kind of connections I could identify.
Here are some bonus tips as you develop your half-idea stable:
Your ideas don't have to share 50/50 content.
Sometimes one topic is just more interesting than the other. Don't be afraid for a single idea to encompass 80%+ of an essay, with another idea coming in as support. Maybe you write about charity work and realize that every time you read to a kid in the hospital you leave him with one of your stuffed penguins. That's exactly why you want to introduce those penguins earlier so you can add it to your experience.
You can even have third ideas. Whatever
Going back to my illness/piano essay, I'd probably also want to add my wish to be a counselor in near the end. Just as I gained piano in my life, I also want to obtain success in counseling. Seeeee? It's so fun and eaaaaaasy!
Focus on the interaction between the ideas as much as or more than the ideas themselves
Somewhere out there is another essay involving both a love of swimming and a keen interest in robotics. Simply having two half-ideas existing in an essay is not necessarily going to make it work. Instead, I find it’s the way those ideas intertwine -the connection itself- that is most interesting. I think it’s because that connection entirely relies on you and how you view the world. That’s where the magic happens.
Keep every half-idea about you
This goes into advice for another blog post, but keep the focus of your essays on you. Your friends, family, famous people, politicians, and everyone else can cameo in your story, but the vast majority of content needs to be about you. The easiest way to ensure this is to keep all half-ideas that way from the start.
You can think of half-ideas retroactively
Write something and just feel like it's missing something? Think hard about other aspects of your life that may fit into the essay you've already written. Maybe you wrote about a big camping trip. You can bring up the fact that you're always the one who tries to keep the group calm, so when things were rough, you took it upon yourself to provide moral support. The goal is writing an essay that showcases what happens when different aspects of your life come together.
Try to form your full topics in the form of a narrative
Utilizing "how" is a great way to do this. How my love for paper airplanes made me a better engineer. How my daily NYT crossword puzzle influences my taste in authors. Get both topics in there and try to present one as having a causal effect on the other.
Don't go insane
You may have a topic or two that are awesome and don't need tinking with. Don't! This may be advice for essays 2-27 you'll be writing. Keep the list of half-ideas handy and constantly be adding to it. You never know when you'll be inspired by it.

DHGATE BEGINNERS GUIDE AND FAQ, READ BEFORE YOU POST

A LIST WITH THE BEST DHGATE SELLERS CAN BE FOUND HERE
As you all might have noticed, we’re trying to increase mod activity to make this subreddit a more structured, enjoyable place. This process will take up some time so please bear with us while we sort things out. In the meantime, let us know if you have any tips/suggestions to improve this subreddit.
Join the DHgate discord through this link: https://discord.gg/QGduYZD

Important information

This subreddit is NOT an official DHgate platform. The mods and users in this sub can NOT help you with resolving disputes, faster shipping, etc. There is a DHgate representative that is sometimes active on this subreddit but they are not always online and can usually only provide general information. If you are facing trouble or are worried about your order, contact DHgate customer service, not this subreddit.
This subreddit is meant for people who want to show products they ordered from DHgate, find products they are looking for, and share their experiences. Hateful speech, personal insults and derailing will not be permitted. Let’s keep this community positive.
This subreddit is not intended to serve as a platform to buy/sell products that were purchased from DHgate. People reselling replicas as retail items will also NOT be permitted, if you suspect a user is employing the subreddit for those purposes, please report the user and contact one of the mods.
When posting on this subreddit, please use one of the flairs under your post. This makes it easier for other users to find what they are looking for and engage with previous posts.

Ordering from DHgate for the first time

Your first order from DHgate might cause some nerves as Chinese retail sites are not always known for their reliability. It is thus important to take a certain degree of risk in account anytime you order. However, this risk can be minimized by making sure the product you are buying meets these criteria: - The seller has more than 500 (preferably more than 1000) transactions. - The overall positive feedback for the seller is no lower than 90% (preferably 95%). - The product you want to order has multiple positive reviews (preferably with photos). - The seller is responsive to messages. - The product you want to order does not have a lot of fake reviews. Reviews are usually fake if many of them are written on or around the same date, usually by users from the same country, sometimes by the same user multiple times. They are also usually written in broken English. - A list of good and trusted sellers can be found here.

How to get help from DHgate

If you find yourself facing an issue with DHgate, whether it is inadequate assistance with a dispute, worries about a scam, or something entirely different, your best bet is live chat. To be able to use live chat, you must open the DHgate website on a laptop or computer, log into your account, open the live chat assistance window, and click the button to request to chat to a human. The live chat agents are usually helpful and forthcoming.

Searching for products on DHgate and this subreddit

Searching for products can be hard, but this sub is not google. Please take these steps before turning to this sub for help. - Image search on DHgate: when on DHgate, there is a small camera icon next to the searchbar, click this icon and submit a picture of the product you are looking for. Try to find a product with good reviews. - Search with codewords: for example, when looking for a Kenzo sweatshirt, try searching for “tiger sweater” and sort by best-selling. - Check out the product lists on this subreddit: when sorting this sub by top-rated posts of all time, you will find loads of useful lists with good products and sellers, use them. - Asking this subreddit for help should be a last resort but remain rational, products that dropped a day ago will not have been reproduced immediately.

Posting reviews

People posting reviews on this subreddit are highly appreciated and very important to this sub. However, to keep this sub organized, we ask you to format your reviews like this:
W2C:
Price:

Overall rating:
When you’re just posting a picture of a product you recently received, please include at least a W2C, price, and short evaluation.

What to avoid on DHgate

DHgate is a great resource for rep clothing and shoes, but there are also some dodgier things that are sold on the website. If you are looking for electronics, say airpods, we advise you to have a look over on /RepTronics as it is not DHgate’s strongest point.
We also highly discourage the purchase and use of any products that could pose a risk to your health. These are products like vaping devices, makeup, and weapons. DHgate products are all produced in unregulated Chinese factories and knockoff vaping devices and makeup have been proven to contain illegally high doses of toxic materials.
Purchasing weapons from DHgate is also a bad idea as this is something that customs workers are trained to detect. Even if your product does get through, there is a much higher chance of it being defective, which could cause you to hurt yourself or someone else.

FAQ

Where can I get the best Yeezys?
From now on, this question will no longer be tolerated on this sub. Search the word “yeezy” on this sub and tons of helpful posts and reviews will come up. The three most famous sellers for yeezys on DHgate are sportfansworld, evayeezy and topsportsmarket.
The product I want to order doesn’t have the logo on the seller’s pictures, will it have the logo in real life?
Yes. Sellers often edit logos out to avoid getting copyright strikes. Look at the reviews or ask the seller for pictures to see what the real product would look like.
Where can I get the best football/soccebaseball jersey?
Simply search for the town name of your preferred club on DHgate, sort by average customer reviews, and find a listing that has good reviews. DHgate is full of amazing jersey sellers and there is not one seller that’s significantly better than others. You could also always search this sub for other peoples’ experiences.
Why would I use DHgate and not a site like taobao?
DHgate is mainly good for casual shoppers. If you want to order just one shirt or pair of shoes, it is much easier, quicker, and often cheaper to do so through DHgate. However, if you’re looking to buy many things at once, it is certainly worth your time to check out subs like /FashionReps and /DesignerReps to familiarize yourself with the process of using Chinese stores and agents.
My shipping/processing is slow, what do I do?
Wait. DHgate is not known for its speed and it is not uncommon for packages to take more than a month to deliver. We strongly advise you to forget about your order for a few weeks after purchasing. If you still have not received it after a month, contact your seller to see if they can help you out.
Will my package be seized at customs?
Probably not, customs workers focus 95% of their time looking for drugs and weapons, they are not going to open every package that has just one pair of shoes as it would just take up far too much time. However, if you order a lot of product from one seller at once and it is all shipped together, there is a higher chance of it getting seized.
The tracking code my seller gave me shows that my package was delivered to a completely wrong address, what do I do?
This is a common scam, immediately contact both your seller and DHgate customer support and file a dispute if possible. It might take some time and effort but you will probably get your money back. This problem can be avoided by only purchasing from trusted sellers.
I have a problem with my payment, what do I do?
Contact your bank and tell them that the purchase you made from a Chinese website was in fact you. If this does not work, contact DHgate customer support.
How do I accurately track my package in English?
Use a tracking app or website. We recommend 17track, Parcels, or track24. All of these have translation options.
Will the coronavirus cause delays in shipping?
Probably, yes.

Any post asking a question that is answered by the beginners guide and FAQ will be removed.

Getting Andrew Yang to the White House Part 5: The Yang Gang’s Last Stand

I’ve been seeing a lot of negativity around here recently, and rightfully so. We lost Iowa. I know that’s not an easy fact to take in given the amount of time and effort put into the state from the campaign, staff, and volunteers, but we have to face the truth. We got out-organized.
So what do we do about it?
I’m the author of these previous 4 posts if you have the time to read them. If not, its ok. This post is very much a standalone post. And probably my most important post thus far:
Part 1: https://www.reddit.com/YangForPresidentHQ/comments/b17slb/ive_worked_on_multiple_campaigns_and_managed_a/
Part 2: https://www.reddit.com/YangForPresidentHQ/comments/b9yyyh/getting_andrew_yang_to_the_white_house_step_2/
Part 3: https://www.reddit.com/YangForPresidentHQ/comments/c1h0lj/getting_andrew_yang_to_the_white_house_part_3_at/
Part 4: https://www.reddit.com/YangForPresidentHQ/comments/ds6rh0/getting_andrew_to_the_white_house_part_4/
In this post, I will detail our best path forward. Our best path to shock the political world and get the American people and the media to take us seriously. And it’s not what you think. Andrew has been campaigning tirelessly in IA and NH, but his best chances are not there. Our entire campaign, our entire country’s future rests on us winning Nevada. There is no other state more prime for our message and our vision than Nevada.
I’ve been canvassing in Nevada since November of 2019. I have knocked on hundreds of doors and spoken to hundreds, maybe thousands of Nevadans. We have a chance to take top 3 in Nevada. When textbankers told me to go to IA, I chose to travel to Nevada. And I’m glad I did. The political environment and campaign infrastructure are much better in Nevada. Nevada (and more specifically one city in NV) is a state full of Yang Gang, they just don’t know it yet. Nevada has early voting which has already begun, but their caucus is on Feb 22nd. Nevada is our last stand. And I will detail in this post exactly why we can and should win Nevada. If we don’t, that could very well be the end of this campaign. So buckle up, this is important.
Nevada is the third state to vote. In addition, like Iowa they are also a caucus state. No one was expecting us to win Iowa. Heck, it’s probably a good thing we didn’t win Iowa. With the debacle going on there, our win would have been overshadowed by the IA Democratic Party screwup anyways. That being said, no one is expecting us to win NH either. (If you want to go to NH, please still go. But from this time of posting, we have 5 days to convince NH, we have two weeks to convince NV – do the math). If we lose Nevada however, that is three in a row. More than enough reason for the media to write us off for the rest of the primary cycle. We need to prove them all wrong. We SHALL NOT let the Bernie Bros pass!
We can do this because Nevada has favorable Demographics, the Issues/Politics resonate with its voters, and the Nevada Staff/Campaign are the best I’ve seen.

Demographics:
To win Nevada, we only need to focus on one location. Unlike Iowa and New Hampshire where the population is spread out (there are 99 counties throughout the state of IA), Nevada only has 16 counties and most of them are very sparsely populated. The most important county is Clark County, and the most important city in that county is…..you guessed it, LAS VEGAS. The Las Vegas metropolitan area includes Boulder City, Enterprise, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, Winchester, Paradise…etc. The Las Vegas Metro area has 2.2 Million people living in it. The entire state of Nevada has a population of ~ 3 Million people. The Las Vegas metro area comprises of more than 70% of the entire population of Nevada. If we win Las Vegas, we win Nevada. Its that simple.
In addition, you know what Las Vegas has that IA and NH did not? A group of people whom tend to like Yang automatically: MINORITIES!! Las Vegas has a huge Chinatown and we have a Yang office there! Las Vegas had a Chinese New Year’s parade two weeks ago! Did NH or IA have a Luna New Year Parade? FUCK NO! Yang Gang was there and walked in it! We got cheers from the audience! Yang Gang has ran ads in Chinese media for Yang. There are at least several precincts that are majority Asian people! That better be automatic delegate pickups for us. We just need to turn them out!
Las Vegas, unlike Iowa or NH, is very compact. You can finish canvassing 50 doors easily because the houses are close to each other. If you’re really hitting it, you can easily do 100 doors a day. You dont need to hit a few, then drive several blocks. You can simply drive to a neighborhood and bang out door to door very efficiently. Also, unlike IA and NH, it’s a sunny/cool 60-70 degrees in Las Vegas. So people are actually out doing stuff.

The Issues/Politics:
There is no other city where the narrative and issues Andrew Yang champions appear more salient than in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is at the center of the automation revolution, and you can look no further than the famous Las Vegas strip. If you have the money (seriously, it can get pricey) stay on the strip and talk to every bartender, waitress, blackjack dealer, housekeeper, bellman, etc you can. In Las Vegas, the service employees win the elections.
This New York Times article details it very well. (If you cant read it due to paywall, don’t worry, I’ll explain) (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/12/us/politics/nevada-caucus-2020-culinary-union.html)
The most important special interest groups in Las Vegas are the culinary workers union, Local 226, and the bartenders union, Local 165. These unions see automation in front of them every day. MGM recently automated most of their backhouse bartenders. Servers now pick up drinks from a robot and deliver them to customers. I spoke with a bar manager in the Bellagio and he said that in their contracts, there are clauses that dictate they can be automated away by a machine anytime. And they have to be ok with that. So Andrew Yang's message of the Freedom Dividend resonates. In addition, there is one issue the unions care about more than anything else and that is Healthcare. However, this is the best part: they HATE Medicare for All. Not one union worker I spoke with wanted Medicare for All. Why? Because their unions have negotiated for them stellar healthcare for years and years. They love their healthcare. And they don’t want the government coming in and taking away all the hard work their union has done for them. If you bring up Yang to your housekeeper, your waiter, your bartender, I guarantee you their first question to you will be: “What will happen to my healthcare?”. And unlike Bernie, we can say “You can keep it”. (Note: Biden also said that when he visited the unions). If Andrew Yang can win the endorsements of the Local 226 and Local 165, we win Las Vegas/NV. It was these unions whom delivered Hillary Clinton her victory in 2016. Now Andrew has not met with the unions and their leaders yet, and I hope that the campaign is reaching out to them. But until that happens, it us up to US to talk to as many union members as possible.
(Note also: Nevadans have a bad taste in their mouth for Bernie, especially after how the Bernie people acted in the NV State convention in 2016. Maybe using death threats was not the best look for the Bernie campaign. Just sayin: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/17/us/politics/bernie-sanders-supporters-nevada.html)
If you stay on the strip, talk to every employee you can. You can change minds. I Yanged an entire bar by myself when I spoke with the Bar Manager about the Freedom Dividend, automation, and that Yang wont take away his Healthcare. He then bought me a free drink, gave me his card, and committed to taking all his employees to the caucus. Imagine if the Yang Gang descended onto Vegas and did this at every restaurant, every bar, every hotel, and every venue. We would win Las Vegas, and get free shots too.
After speaking to many Las Vegas voters, I’ve come to believe that they don’t like politicians. There’s a reason why Tom Steyer has blanketed the state with his ads. Because Nevadans don’t trust politicians. Thus, Yang is a natural alternative to the rest of the field. Steyer may have some traction, but almost everyone I spoke with didn’t like the fact that Steyer was trying to buy the election. Everyone from Uber drivers to strippers (seriously) found Steyer annoying.
Something unique to Vegas that you don’t see anywhere else is the way wealth inequality unravels itself. Las Vegas is the place where the rich and famous come to party and blow their money away. Yet the residents here don’t scorn or hate them. Bernie and Warren’s rhetoric of the “greed and the corruption” fall on deaf ears here because in Las Vegas, the rich treat service employees well. Talk to any bartendeserver long enough and they’ll tell you about that one time when Rihanna came in and left a $10K tip on her tab. The rich come here to live out their vices, yet they are gracious and generous to the people who serve them. You can spend upwards of $5000 at a nightclub and $20 for a drink on the strip, but once you leave the strip prices drop by at least 75%. So residents don’t feel the price inflation. Don’t want to spend money? Party in downtown Vegas, where a drink is only $3- $4. The residents of Las Vegas don’t hate the rich, and they don’t want a “revolution”. They just want to make enough money so that sometimes they can sit down and enjoy a football game with the high rollers. The Freedom Dividend is the ticket to that life.
The Staff
Last, but not least, is the staff. Speaking from meeting as many of them as I have, the Las Vegas campaign staff are absolutely phenomenal. Mark Peckham, the NV state director did a great job picking his team and it shows. Reading through the threads I see talk about the Iowa staff being unprofessional and not ready for the caucus. I see talk about IA not training their precinct captains correctly, and offices hiring people with no experience. I can tell you, that is certainly NOT the case in Las Vegas. Almost every staff member I spoke with was professional and experienced. I consider myself pretty experienced in politics. There was not one staff member I met who didn’t know their shit. Precinct captain training? The NV staff has been doing that on a WEEKLY basis since November! Sign up for canvassing and are late 30 mins, you bet your ass a staffer will call you up and find out where you are. I remembered when I was considering going to IA and I wanted to know if the IA campaign needed a data analytics guy (my specialty). I asked several staff and never got an answer back. I asked the same question to Las Vegas staff and I got an answer back in seconds. The Las Vegas staff know their shit and they’re here to win. Even their volunteer coordinators are dedicated and knowledgeable. They have daily tables at UNLV, and weekly well attended Yang Hangs. Their offices are clean and open on time. Yang Gangs have houses you can stay in free of charge, and volunteers happily drive you around in a Tesla to get you to your canvassing locations. They’re that fucking good. Convinced yet? Here are the contacts you should add/follow on facebook:
Eileen Patterson, Las Vegas Volunteer Director
Gavin Williams, Field Organizer
Alex Pitarro, Field Organizer
Alyssa Monet Manson, Yang Gang House Leader
Nick Joke (not his real name, but his name on facebook), Volunteer organizer
(these are not all the staff, just the ones I can remember off the top of my head. There are several others, almost all are sharp).
Join the Vegas Yang Gang Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/vegasyanggang/
The Las Vegas Yang Gang has a website: https://vegasyanggang.com/
The following are their active offices and hours:
Addresses:
Chinatown Office
4276 Spring Mountain Rd Suite 203 Las Vegas, NV 89102
Henderson Office
580 E. Windmill Lane Suite 130 Las Vegas, NV 89123
North Las Vegas Office
2815 W Lake Mead Blvd Las Vegas, NV 89106
Hours
Monday—Saturday: 10:00AM–8:00PM
Sunday: 12:00PM–8:00PM
(Note: I emphasize Vegas because it is the population center of Nevada. However, if you would like to help win other parts of Nevada, Reno is worthy of helping too. I’ve met several Reno organizers and they are all very capable people.)
Lastly, Las Vegas is truly an amazing city. Nothing beats canvassing 50 doors a day and then settling down to a workout, a spa, and a buffet. Want to Yang marijuana aficionados because Yang has the best drug policy? Great, its legal to buy weed in NV. Go to one of the hundreds of dispensaries in Vegas. Want to Yang sex workers and strippers because Yang wants to decriminalize sex work? Great, Vegas has the best strip clubs in the world. Want to party hard and work hard? Great, Vegas has the best nightclubs and bars you could ever dream of. Want to Yang sports gamblers because Yang wants to legalize online gambling, you can do that too!
So lets leave all our chips on the table Yang Gang. There is no other city more prepared to be won than Las Vegas. Lets lay it all out on the floor and say we did our best. Make Las Vegas our Last Stand. And if we win, if we do, that will be more than enough momentum to carry us to victory on Super Tuesday. Nevada/Las Vegas is better representative of America than any other state/city so far, and America will recognize that. If we win Vegas, we carry enough momentum to finish well in Super Tuesday, guaranteeing our bargaining power in a brokered convention in July.
I hope this is not the last time I write these posts. And I hope you all can join me. What are you waiting for? Buy your ticket. We’re going to Vegas baby.
thank u, next.
Note: last but not least, if you can donate, please donate to the Ken Jeong fundraiser this coming 2/13, will help us hit NV campaigning strong!:
https://secure.actblue.com/donate/ay-events-lv-1215
Edit: Thank you so much for everyone giving me awards! I just want Yang to win and I firmly believe this is our last stand. We’re in the Endgame now....

Cricket prediction strategy

If you have never bet on cricket, but you are quite experienced bettor on football, then betting on the runs could easily be your initiation market. It’s a lot like the oveunder markets and the safest way on how to win on cricket betting. All you need to do is have access to stats in order to be sure that the offered lines have some value. So after you’ve done your homework you’ll be ready to claim your chances in this fascinating sport. But you have to remember that the best opportunities for profit will come In-Play. So make sure that you understand more than the basics about cricket and adopt a reliable cricket live betting strategy.
Today I have seen a website in google search when i was searching for cricket betting tips. I was shocked that they provide many secure predictions.
I have also checked their last predictions, they are just amazing. I have never seen that in any website providing such correct prediction like them.

[Game Preview] Week 7 - Philadelphia Eagles(3-3) at Dallas Cowboys (3-3)

Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) at Dallas (3-3)
The Eagles continue their three game road trip after being shellacked by the Vikings last week in Minneapolis. The Eagles head next down to Dallas to take on the division rival Cowboys, who are reeling from a loss of their own at the hands of the New York Jets.. After coming out of the gate red hot, Dallas has lost three in a row to the Saints, Packers and Jets and the Eagles will look to make it four for their rival. The Eagles have had their own struggles though as the secondary has been getting torched week in and week out with little adjustments from Schwartz, who refuses to give his beleaguered corners more safety help over the top. On the other side of the ball, it is much of the same from last season where the Eagles are suffering from slow starts and failing to put up points in the first quarter. It won’t get easier for them this week. The Dallas defense is stout giving only 331.8 yards per game which is good for 9th in the league while holding opponents to 19.0 points per game (8th in the league). On the other side, the Cowboys may get a boost with both their tackles returning to practice Thursday albeit as limited participants, it is a good sign for the Cowboys who badly missed them last week versus the Jets, however Cooper and Cobb both remained sidelined Thursday. Their participation Friday will be something to watch for to give a better idea for their status on Sunday. The Eagles are dealing with injuries of their own as Desean Jackson, Jason Peters, Darren Sproles and Nigel Bradham are all likely to miss the game this week. Injuries aside, this is a huge game with first place in the NFC East on the line for the two 3-3 squads. Look for the Eagles to try to establish the run early and utilize the screen game against the fast attacking Cowboy defense to get them on their heels. On the other side of the ball, the secondary may get some help this week with the return of Jalen Mills, but the secondary will need some help from their play caller. If the Eagles hope to hold Dak in check, Schwartz will needs to stop focusing on the run and be willing to give his corners help over the top, despite such a strong running threat from Elliott. If the Eagles can limit the big plays and force the Cowboys to grind it out, it will go a long way in winning this football game. It is Prime Time NFCE Sunday Night Football, so let's get ready for a slugfest this weekend. Go Birds!

Eagles 23 - Cowboys 29
The Cowboys dominated almost from the start, but let the Eagles stay close to set up a wild fourth quarter as they outgained the Eagles 576-256 on the day, but the Eagles hung around to set up an exciting 4th quarter that saw 3 TDs on the final 3 series. After Dallas took a 7 point lead on a 75 yard TD pass from Prescott to Cooper, the Eagles responded with a TD of their own. After a bad call nullified a Dallas Goedert TD, the Eagles marched down the field and scored a game tying TD with 1:39 to go in the game. After the Cowboys failed to score on the next possession the game went to overtime where the Cowboys got the ball to start. The Cowboys quickly marched down the field and scored the game winning TD. Rasul Douglas jump the slant route and tipped the ball, but it ended up in the waiting arms of Amari Cooper who took it in for the score to give the Cowboys the 29-23 win.

Recap from Last Week’s Games.
Eagles
Video The Eagles saw a familiar nemesis in Kirk Cousins who scorched them in the past and this weekend gave them flashbacks. Cousins has been criticized this season for not living up to his contract, but he lived up to it Sunday throwing for 333 yards and 3 TDs against the bewildered Eagles secondary. The Vikings got it started early and with a Theilen TD on the opening drive. Despite all signs pointing to the Vikings being aggressive and exploiting the poor pass defense, Jim Schwartz stubbornly continued to keep 8 men in the box most of the day and left his corners on islands to cover the speedy Diggs and All-Pro Theilen on their own with no help over the top. While the defense was torched the Eagles offense had their own struggles as they once again failed to score in the first quarter and struggled to find rhythm throughout the day as they fell to the Vikings 38-20.
Cowboys
Video The Cowboys entered the game reeling from a home loss to the Green Bay Packers while the Jets looked to get a boost from QB Sam Darnold who returned to action for the first time since week 1 as he recovered from mono. A boost is exactly what Darnold gave the Jets as he threw for 2 TDs in the second quarter and was 23-32 for 338 yards on the day. The Cowboys were without their top 2 receiving targets in Randall Cobb who missed than game and Cooper who left the game with a quad injury after the first drive. The Dallas WRs struggled to get open and the high powered Dallas offense sputtered. Dallas did make a push in the 4th quarter, but the Jets were able to hold them off for their first win of the season under Adam Gase.24-22.

Stats to Know
Dak Prescott’s Time to Throw
In the first 3 weeks of the 2019 regular season, Dak was dropping an astounding 147.2 passer rating on dropbacks 2.5 seconds or less and 98.9 on those over. He averaged 2.67 seconds (8th-longest of QBs with a noteworthy number of dropbacks) in Time to Throw over that period, with 45.5% of his dropbacks coming in under 2.5 seconds. In Weeks 4-6 (3 Cowboys losses), Dak was averaging the 9th-longest average Time to Throw at an almost identical clip of 2.66 seconds. However, his passer rating in attempts coming under 2.5 seconds plummeted to 81.2, where his passer rating in attempts over 2.5 seconds also dropped from 98.9 to 85.3. Potentially missing key contributors, we shall see how these figures fare in Week 7 against an under-performing Eagles secondary--an understatement I fully acknowledge.
Matchups to Watch
Cowboys Passing Attack vs Eagles Pass Defense
There is no point in praising the Eagles limiting Dalvin Cook to under 3 YPC when they got absolutely torched through the air yet again. Few people love stopping the run as much as Schwartz despite the fact that having a worse pass defense doesn’t really help your odds of winning. Dallas enters this contest with their own injuries since Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb may not play. Cobb is a notable loss but missing Cooper would be a big help to a wildly poor Eagles pass defense considering what he is able to do. I’m not sure when to rank Cooper among the NFLs wide receivers, but he is a very good route runner that is capable of making himself an easy target for Dak Prescott. Second year pro Michael Gallup had a nice start to the season prior to missing time with his own injury and is a great compliment to the other two starting receivers on the roster. The Eagles enter with a poor cornerback room fresh off the roasting by Kirk Cousins and the great Vikings receivers. Rasul Douglas has been solid on the young season prior to last week. He’s not likely a long term starter at the position but he’s giving you good value for the resources used to get him. Sidney Jones may start opposite him if Ronald Darby can’t go or if Jalen Mills isn’t activated off PUP this week. That’s a problem area. Jones looks washed and lacks any sort of confidence needed to play outside. The players that may return will help the Eagles but they have missed significant time so expectations should be low in the short term. Moreover, the coaching staff has continuously failed to ensure the DBs are executing their responsibilities consistently and failing to develop them in meaningful ways to help out the team. Dallas has an opportunity to get right against this group as do the Eagles themselves given the Cowboys injury struggles. If the Eagles pass defense can just be solid – and not a liability – it’ll go a long way in ensuring success on Sunday.
Cowboys Offensive Line vs Eagles Pass Rush
The Eagles pass rush has not been bad so far this season… it just hasn’t been great. This is a defensive scheme that is predicated on a dominant front 4; we’ve seen what that can mean for the Eagles when they are playing at an elite level. Injury, recovery, natural regression, and the slow growth of younger players on the line have been contributing factors to Eagles lack of pass rush as compared to the previous two years. This is a big setback for the organization since the success of the scheme is predicated on this unit. Like the Jets game two weeks ago, this contest provides the Eagles with a chance to get right against a struggling and banged up offensive line with Tyron Smith and La’el Collins unlikely to go. Tyron Smith has returned to form as a top tier left tackle but has missed the last couple of weeks due to a high ankle sprain. As we saw in 2017, Smith’s absence has massive ramifications for the Cowboys offensive performance. La’el Collins had a good start to the season prior to suffering his own injury. Dak takes more hits and sacks without Smith in the game and that problem is amplified with Collins out as well. Brandon Graham has been playing well so far this season and the Eagles will need that to continue Sunday. Derek Barnett and the other EDGE rushers need to step up opposite him by taking advantage of backup Cameron Flemming. Travis Frederick has returned to the starting lineup this year after missing 2018. While he isn’t at the All Pro level we’ve become accustomed to, he’s still a solid center that is slowly returning to form. The Eagles need Fletcher Cox and whoever else will play on the inside to take advantage of the favorable matchups presented to them by a lesser Frederick and Connor Williams. It’s important to limit Zeke but it is also important to pressure Dak into making bad decisions and getting sacks. It’s not reasonable for anyone to expect a strong performance by the Eagles secondary but the defensive line can absolutely have an impact in this one. They will need to in order to win on Sunday.
Cowboys Secondary vs Eagles Passing Attack
The Eagles passing offense has been extremely underwhelming in the absence of Desean Jackson as they have no big play element at Wide Receiver with his injury. Alshon Jeffery has seemingly worked his way back from an early season calf injury and is a big, usually reliable target for Carson Wentz. Other than Alshon, none of the Eagles WRs are giving the offense anything of value without Jackson out there. Mr. Try Hard himself, Nelson Agholor, has been nothing but a waste of cap room given his production. If the pass isn’t absolutely perfect, he isn’t catching it. And he may not catch it even if it is. Mack Hollins? Who? JJAW is where? There were high expectations for this receiving group entering the season and they would be met if Desean was on the field. Unfortunately, this is a group that absolutely cannot make a moderately difficult play to bail out their QB. At some point this has to change for the Eagles to succeed this season. Zach Ertz has been getting a lot of extra attention from opposing defense since he is the best receiving option on the field for Philly right now and even he has cost the team recently. Dallas enters the game with a banged up secondary as Xavier Woods is out, Byron Jones may be out, and Anthony Brown may be out as well. This secondary gave the Eagles some issues last year and is hurting right now. Can the Eagles receivers make a play for their QB? Wentz is doing everything he can to put the team in positon to win each week this season: the rest of the offense has repeatedly let him down. The stakes are high in this game and the team needs this group to step up for the first time in a long time.
Eagles vs Slow Starts
The Eagles cannot start fast; the alarming trend from 2018 hasn’t gone away so far in 2019. I’d wager that Eagles fans can turn off the game for the first quarter and expect the team to trail by 10 early without scoring any first quarter points. This is a trend that cannot continue anymore. Coaches and players need to come together to figure out what they are doing wrong and stop doing that thing. It’s infuriating to watch and not conducive to success for this team to be in a position where they are constantly chasing teams. Statistics show that teams that start fast and score early are more likely to have success than not. Why the Eagles cannot get this fixed is beyond me but they have no choice but in doing so. They play themselves out of games with the slow starts. Failing to get going as they have been can cost them in the long run later in this season. Everyone who follows this teams knows this is a troubling trend that seems to not have an end in sight. We also know that if they can get going, they can have success. Will they? I am not sure.
