How to retrieve both Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash from old Multibit Classic wallet?
I still have funds in my Multibit Classic wallet, which does not use a seed phrase. Can someone give me a step by step guide on how to get my BTC in a newer wallet such as Electrum, while also retrieving the Bitcoin Cash? I searched everywhere for answers, and I found the following:
Export Multibit Classic private keys.
Import them into a new Electrum wallet. Or should I send the Bitcoins to a new (Electrum) wallet? Such that I don't have 2 interfaces for 1 account or something?
From the new wallet, send all the BTC funds to yet another new wallet.
Enter seed or password or something from old wallet into Electon Cash.
I have some Bitcoin in an old Multibit Classic wallet that I want to transfer to Electrum. Will I get access to the Bitcoin Cash associated with the old wallet? Are there other forks that I lose?

''' Hi, I've found it very hard to find the exact process to deal with doing the above. I've not found a clear answer in the posts on here either, unfortunately. Is anyone able to describe what is required to do this? My preference is towards using the Electrum desktop wallet as that's what I've started using. Most articles around getting BCH and BCG assume your BTC was already in Electrum though. I've read there's "Electron Cash" app for the BCH aspect, and there are risks of exposing your BTC (by way of the private key) to any BCH wallet used. I would expect the process would be something like: 1) Export private key from Multibit Classic Wallet. 2) Import private key to Electrum wallet (essentially migrating from Multibit Classic to Electrum and having instant access to BTC funds). ... then it gets confusing. I'm not really sure I want to let Electron Cash have access to the same private key that holds all the BTC. So, should I then send the BTC onwards to another address and wallet hosted on another computer, before installing Electon Cash to 'get' to the BCH? And then if I want to get the BTC back into Electrum running on the same computer, create a new wallet and address and transfer it back? Thank you for any help. My father is divorcing after 47 years and he's quite worried about money, so I wish to help him get access to as much as possible, to send to exchanges and sell if needed. Transaction failed with Multibit Classic and my bitcoin is gone
I had a bitcoin sitting in my multibit wallet and I tried sending it to poloniex. I didn't realize my client was outdated before I sent it. The transaction never got fully verified, but the funds never showed back up in this wallet. I tried resetting the block chain and transactions on my client multiple times like some people on the forums suggested but they never showed back up. https://blockchain.info/address/18tAb3QFFBFxjRt8t29RcnJ1W23XiXFvuu It shows that my btc is still there but I have no idea how to get to it. Can I open the wallet with another client?
Hello all, I'm having something of an issue, which certainly stems from my poor understanding of bitcoins, but here goes: I bought some coins a few years ago, put them in a classic multibit wallet (0.5.15), and didn't do anything with them. Now I'd like to sell some, but I can't - any transfers don't work, they go to 1 peer and do not propagate. The reason for this, I am pretty sure, is that transaction fees are higher than they were in 2013, and my client is using the old standard fees. In this version of MultiBit, there is no way to change the transaction charge. What can I do to move my coins to a platform that will use proper transaction fees? Thank you!

not sure if this is the right place to post this, but back in 2013, i mined a little bit of bitcoin and haven't touched my wallet since. i went back and located the multibit.wallet file and tried to open it. after everything loads it shows my balance as 0 and it is showing a different adress than the one it shows on my account from slush's pool. Am i trying to recover this wrong? Is there a different way to do this?
